Leak Sensors - A (Suggested) Complete Program Package
Frank, As far as I am aware the brackets are not required for this program to operate. On the right hand side is the option to add the brackets I believe. I am not in front if the Amin console so my memory may be wrong. Teken . . . Encrypted By: Phoenix Security Solutions

Energy Usage?
Hello Joe, Absolutely, since day one! There have been tremendous improvements in terms of stability and features since I deployed my GEM system more than a year ago. 1. Plan your install to ensure proper routing of CT's (Current Transformers) with in your service panel is appropriate. If you need to lengthen the CT cables you can use CAT5e Ethernet cable to do so. 2. Label every CT coming out of the service panel with what ever naming convention you believe makes sense. This will save you lots of time down the road and helps trouble shoot a circuit months down the line. 3. CT Orientation: Make sure all of the CT's are facing the right direction per the manual. The worst case you simply reverse the wires in the GEM to accomplish this task. Its better to have it done right the first go round then to see your readings showing (-) negatives which will drive you bonkers! 4. Update the COM and Engine firmware to the latest before you do anything. Doing so will ensure previous bugs are resolved and you enjoy all of the new features the new releases bring. 5. GEM Internal Setup Page: Before you do anything to the GEM take the time to screen capture all of the pages as you saw in my install thread. This will help you trouble shoot and revert back to what ever prior changes as memory is short 4-5 months later! This is one of the main drivers of why I published my install thread in the forums. To help me and those that follow see the incremental changes and their effects on the system etc. 6. Main Voltage: The GEM can be adjusted internally to compensate for the line voltage coming into your home from the POCO. Please ensure you use a quality DMM with True RMS to measure the line voltage. The purpose of fine tuning the PT settings is to have the most accuracy which is the ultimate goal! If your true line voltage is 125 VAC, but the GEM shows 119 VAC. Your readings will be inaccurate thus negating your ability to measure and capture vampire draws etc. 7. FAQ: I started a small initial FAQ to address the install and configuration of the GEM to ISY. It is on page 5 and provides all the relevant things to do to accomplish the set up. 8. Create an account in the Brultech forum so you can ask questions and also down load all the software and manuals. Both companies are small and each of them have that small town feel. Meaning, they are eager to help and willing to listen to their customers. I have been working with Ben / Paul for more than a year in the direct development of the GEM and Dash Box. Very much like Michel of UDI they have been responsive to bugs, improvements, and expanding the capability of their product(s). Everyone, moving forward will reap an entire year of my personal pain! Being on the bleeding edge comes with a cost and that is enduring bugs, waiting, and testing. At the end of the day it has evolved the product to be best in class and others pail in comparisons. At this point in time both UDI and Brultech are working on incorporating temperature, pulse, and current / amps into the ISY-994iZ. I would appreciate it very much if you make your presence known in the Brultech sub forum in this site. As with anything priorities are ranked in terms of how many people want this feature vs ROI to the vendor(s). Its safe to say I have spear headed the development of both products and brought both companies new paying customers, all based on the Install thread detailing my Energy Management journey. Both UDI and Brultech have been a pleasure to deal with and their endless development has been the difference of making my dreams a reality, from a pipe dream. There are many other products that appear on the surface to do the same HA / Energy Monitoring. But after ten years of reviewing some of them its like comparing a Chevette to Corvette! Both product offerings are Corvette class and others are simply running to catch up. Your direct feed back and support in the Brultech GEM to UDI will help me and those that follow in the continued development of this product. Please do let me know if you need any help or insight and its safe to say UDI and Brultech will be there too! Teken . . .

Leak Sensors - A (Suggested) Complete Program Package
Mike, Good to know! Yes, after I installed another set of AP's I was able to capture the other Leak Sensors heart beat signature. With out the aid of the OP's program there was no long term method to confirm the sensors health or state. I really hope the heart beat node will become a basic feature in all wireless devices they produce moving forward. I have submitted this requirement in the product request thread in the SH forum. How to disable KeypadLinc LEDs from ISY?
Michel, In case no one said Thank You. I, and the rest of the ISY community would like to extend our gratitude and sincere thanks for the endless hard work and development of the ISY. More than three years ago I coined the phrase that the ISY was an investment. That statement was true then, and is very much so now. Teken . . .

I also received one like this. Received three with an address beginning with 25 and this one has an address beginning with 21 so maybe it is from an older run. ~Mike Mike, Doesn't it appear its stained? I too received units starting with 25 but didn't pay too much attention to that part. The bent yellow antenna is what got me a little Teken . . .

Is there a way to use an UPS with a PLM?
I have an ISY 994i/ir Pro set up to send me a text if a leak is detected. I plan on having my router and ISY on an UPS (along with a computer and PoE port for my cameras), so sending the message shouldn't be a problem as long as the internet is up. I just need to find a way to get the signal from the leak sensors. I have read a small number of users have placed the PLM on the end of a FilterLinc. While the other end is attached to the UPS. This causes the PLM to send and receive via RF only. This may allow you to accomplish having the PLM backed up and powered. My personal experience is that the PLM's RF strength varies a great deal. I personally would not have my system configured this way because there is just too much risk. The whole Insteon dual band technology is still work in progress in my mind. If you're interested in another method to monitor your sump pump via Wi-fi outside of the Insteon environment I can provide you another option. Teken . . .

Leak Sensors - A (Suggested) Complete Program Package
Belias, I too would like to extend my thanks for such a well crafted program! I just completed all the variable programming and so far all appears to work just fine. Some observations about this new sensor which many have noted before. - I have no clue how anyone could use this sensor with out the aid of the ISY. During testing of the first 4 leak sensors, showed the change of state (wet/dry) to be instantaneous via the ISY UI? - Others have indicated that they see their leak sensors when placed in water starts to flash the green LED? Mine simply flickers once when its placed in water and nothing else happens. - If there wasn't a method to *monitor* the wet, dry, heart beat via e-mail / sms. I have no clue how anyone would start to trouble shoot these devices. - Not all of the sensors are created equal. If I didn't have AP's in key locations the signal would never travel and be received by the Insteon network. So, make sure you have AP's in the areas, floors, zones you plan on using these devices. Otherwise you will not receive an alert from these devices. - I also received a unit that has a yellow stained antenna? Has anyone seen such a thing? All the others are white but this one unit looks like a busted *** banana. Once again the ISY has proven its power, flexibility, and community support in another Insteon product that could have went down the toilet! I am not sure how many people have wasted their time trying to trouble shoot this silly device. But, its safe to say I would have thrown these things straight into the garbage with out the support of all of you! Thank You Teken . . .

Insteon Energy Display - ISY support?
Hello Greg, I do use them for local monitoring of specific loads around the home. For monitoring all 32 channels from the GEM the best solution is to purchase one of many cheap Andriod style tablets. They go for $89.00 each these days all over the net. Would allow you to view all your channels in One decent sized screen also. The Energy Monitor was a great idea from Insteon but requires more development to get it further along. Teken . . . Encrypted By: Phoenix Security Solutions

Insteon Energy Display - ISY support?
Michel, That is most excellent to hear and know! I do realize there are countless people with 9999999999 requests for your support in so many areas. So, prioritizing them with an eye toward ROI is challenging to say the least for UDI. If you could please ask Ben for the temp / pulse packet format that would be most excellent. As long as this is on the radar and going to be implemented. This would add even more value to the ISY / GEM for both companies. It would also allow others to have a simple path to capture energy, temperature, and pulse data. This has been a very long road for both companies, and the on going development has been staggering. But its safe to say everyone will reap the rewards once its done. As always I thank you for your continued support, insight, and vision. Teken . . .

Insteon Energy Display - ISY support?
I have but given the fact I am already using the Zigbee dongle in the ISY-994. Z-Wave is not an option for me in my system. The Zigbee dongle allows me to take energy information from my GEM and use the Insteon network to control various loads. The GEM has 4 pulse channels, and 8 temperature channels also available. If both of these data streams could be obtained from the ISY-994 iZ Pro. This whole Energy Monitor support issue would be a moot point for me. I am not sure where the barrier lies with obtaining these streams of data. But, I was assured that purchasing the ISY-994 iZ Pro was the path for support in all of this. Currently, there is / was a low request rate for such features from the masses. Even though *so called countless people* chirped up and said they would be one of the first to purchase the iZ models. Its safe to say much of them were full of hot air because the Brultech forum has been stagnant in the UDI forum. Based on a few threads in this forum some Energy features are still being worked on so I have hope. Teken . . .

Using an Insteon DIN On/Off Realay with a GFCI Breaker
Ed, Newer style of GFCI's are less prone to this issue. If the GFCI's in your home are still the same one's more than likely you will see the same problem. Upgrade one to Leviton and you should be in good shape. I have several Insteon devices on a GFCI and nothing has ever tripped. Teken . . .

Insteon's future?
Speaking for my self only I believe Insteon will continue to grow and be adopted by many home enthusiasts. More than five years ago you could not have paid me to purchase one single item from SH / Insteon. Everyone knows the whole story about why so I won't even explain it. I literally sat on the fence waiting to see, read, and hear from other users about how the product developed. As time went on many of the problems were resolved and many more new products brought to market. In the time I have owned Insteon and have dealt with SH it has been a positive experience. Anyone who has ever taken a moment to read my writing in this forum and others know I am quick to judge, but quicker to acknowledge resolution and success. If someone asked me today about *If I should purchase Insteon for my home* it would be a resounding yes! They have continued to release more products and items than any other maker. All the while increasing their market share around the globe. My only jab at them is that at some point in time the price point on key items needs to come down. Who ever is responsible for the pricing and marketing of the product needs to be fired. They have no clue about strategic pricing and how to gain market share. One only needs to look at the last four items just released from them. This is just one perfect example of out pricing yourself from the market and to the customer: http://www.smarthome.com/2335-226/INSTE ... ack/p.aspx Now to be fair someone in Management must be watching a little bit. As they have left a few items on perpetual sale which seems to be a good balance of value and profit for both parties such as these: http://www.smarthome.com/2475F/FanLinc- ... and/p.aspx http://www.smarthome.com/2472DWH/Outlet ... ite/p.aspx This is one of my all time favorites $49.99 WTF?? http://www.smarthome.com/2401C8/Custom- ... bpage=prod Clearly at the more sane price of $19.99 not only did they move more but it made sense! At the end of the day the product is great. I expect to see more items and features being provided as the years go bye. The only problem I see is that if SH ever goes broke or decides to leave the HA industry the Insteon adopter will be screwed! I have purchased many spare units for that just in case scenario. As I have way too much money, time, and effort for it to go poof! Teken . . .

Garage Door Kit and KPL
On the Liftmaster 3800 Jack Shaft GDO's. All I did was wire in the I/O Linc in parallel to the opener itself. I set the I/O Linc to 0.5 seconds via the ISY and all has worked for more than three years. The Liftmaster 3800 uses the code hoping technology to randomly generate the next code. It is not in its purest form considered encrypted as it does not send out a hash key etc. Teken . . .

Garage Door Kit and KPL
It does seem as though garage doors are one of the common themes. In my mind, the "ideal" setup is in the wiki, but I agree with LeeG that personal preferences and setup can vary quite a bit. Given that a measurable number appear not to read the wiki, dedicated forums, or even the user manual, I hold little hope that a sticky topic will fare much better. We are men! We don't need no stinkin manual! I agree, sometimes if people took 5 minutes to read some of the forum threads the insight they seek would be found. How ever, there are times when the search comes up with 9999999999 results and that can be quite a bit of material to ingest. Teken . . .
