Echo Announcements - Anyone Else Having Problem?
Teken replied to jgcharlotte's topic in Amazon Echo
I know this is an easier way to integrate voice announcements with less investment in time. But, this is a perfect example of why Local First vs Cloud First is key. Requires no reliance on the Internet or a third party vendor making changes or interrupting service. -
It has been awhile my friend so if you have some time and a little budget. You may consider going this route as it will allow you to use any sound file your heart desires: Again, much thanks to my dear friend @Thanatar who made a pipe dream come into reality! I've been rocking this local first voice / sound system for several years.

Hope your package is safe and sound as mine was held at CBSA for a couple of days prior to being released. It must be random search month as no less than seven of my packages were held at CBSA for more inspection / review. The controller was opened, swabbed, and X-Ray'd . . . I should have kept the box with the customs security tape for nostalgia!

I thought this was pretty interesting and funny at the same time. My brand new system has been up and running for more than 2 years, 7 months, 3 weeks, 1 day, 38 minutes, and 8 seconds! Must be that clean brisk Canadian air we have up here that makes things go faster . . . ?

I just received my unit too and also found something was rattling around when it was taken out of the secure mailbox. ☹️ On a related note did everyone receive two antennas?!? As I have only one on hand and there are two ports left / right. Im going to let the box thaw out for a couple hours because it’s -29’C here! ?

You may try using the heart beat as the trigger to update the HDS device. This can be found in the program tab using write updates. You have a 70-30% chance in this working. [emoji53] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My primary focus for the whole voice control system has been to allow those with limited mobility / complete disability. Voice control has re-open the door to those who have been impacted by health issues: Stroke, Old Age. Many friends and family who came back from the war and lost limbs have benefited from voice control. Other technical uses is having the ability to query Alexa to tell me real time stats, conditions, and environmentals: Power / Energy, Force Protection, Resource Uses / Status, etc. All of the above requires the person to inquire / ask Alexa and thus this is a proactive approach. What Bumbershoot has offered is a close gap in reactive response for the system. My hopes are in time Amazon will finalize the ability where Alexa can offer both reactive and proactive response. In the interim I have enjoyed a fantastic reactive voice announcement which I call Julie U.S. This system offers literally 90% of what I want, need, and must have in terms of insight and global awareness. Many people think the *Asking* part is the most important aspect but for me having used both for years now. In my world being told something that is happening is more insightful, powerful, and meaningful.

Donnie, You're almost there so hang in just a little bit longer!

You need only purchase the Network Module (IF) you intend to use that modules features. Mobilinc offers a smart application which has nothing to do with the Network Module. There is also the Mobilinc Service which provides some extra features. Then, there is the Mobilinc Portal which mimics what UDI has offered in the ISY Portal. Bottom line is if you wish to interact, connect, to cloud hosted services and network devices the *Network Module* is required on the ISY Series Controller.

In case you need the Insteon documentation here they are: http://cache.insteon.com/pdf/dev-INSTEON_Command_Tables_20070925a.pdf http://cache.insteon.com/pdf/dev-INSTEON_Developers_Guide_20090218.pdf

I'll add given the choice that you invest a little more for the stand alone Network Module. As this ensures if you ever decide to leave the ISY Portal you can still have the Network Module in stand alone mode. Having said this, UDI has made ignoring / subscribing to the ISY Portal very hard to resist. I am truly not a fan of subscription services so that speaks volumes as the value I see in UDI's implementation of said portal! [emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

How To Guide: Getting Alexa to provide verbal responses
Teken replied to blueman2's topic in Amazon Echo
Do I need to change anything else anywhere besides what's in this image capture? I tried ask Julie X but it doesn't work. I also tried Julie Status and that also didn't work is there a lead time for the change to take affect? -

This was on my list as to what the heck is going on now. Now I know and will implement the new work around ~ Thanks Blueman! -
I agree with lilyoy1 about using the ILL if only from the view point of independent use and fail over. There are some technical consideration you may want to review before moving forward. None of them are real deal breakers or show stoppers but they are worthy of taking pause and thinking it over. The dual outlet is one of the latest Insteon hardware and the engineers put in some extra features not seen in many products. They are in no specific order of importance and relevance such as: 250 feet RF range, 0~90% RH, 0.4 watts consumption, 1000 volts surge, 15 amp load, tamper shutters, Optional RF vs Power line On/Off, Smart Hops, etc. If you intend to use a plug insure the plug is thick and robust because if you use something like what you see in X-MAS lights. You will not be able to insert the two prongs into the tamper proof shutter with out losing your mind and breaking off the one or both pins! No need to ask how I know this . . . ILL: 150 feet RF range, 85% RH, <1.00 watts consumption, no surge rating, 20 amps / 1800 watts, rated for Inductive loads (Good for Motors), etc. The ILL has not seen any firmware updates like the dual outlet linc nor as far as I know any hardware changes. Both products in my mind are solid so long as you scope them for the proper use case. Things that I weigh out is energy consumption, inductive loads, surge protection, ampacity to ensure there is a buffer when there are quick / short burst of inrush current, RF range. Given the device will be on the powerline this may not be very important but that extra 100 RF range might make the difference in a noise maker / signal sucker environment. Both devices have *Last Known State* which is perfect but the Dual Outlet has a delayed start up upon power loss / restore. This can cause the system to appear to be erratic when its not only because there is a short boot up vs the ILL comes up much quicker.

Appreciate the quick feedback! ?

As always, I thank you Sir!

Has anyone seen their Motion Sensor II actually push the temperature to the AC with out pressing the set button?? Also, when the sensor is plugged in via USB does anyone see real time updates??
-
Can you offer some insight as to which log was bigger and by how much (MB). I was told my log for just two days was 6 MB don't know if that is big, small, average?? But, Michel called out that for two days that isn't the expected norm. I can't say either way as I don't have a reference to what the controller does or if, when, what, where.
-
Not happy this is happening to you but am glad its not isolated to me alone. Since migrating to 5.X.X the controller has *Self Rebooted* no less than four times on its own. Two times while I was literally in the AC doing some work. At least the system had the respect to pop up a message indicating this process was underway! Michel is already tracking this and hope root cause can be identified and solved. One thing different in my case is there was no logs affirming this event happen so I'm not sure how this is going to help me if this persists. Meaning no logs to prove it happen and relay to UDI.

Good to know others are seeing the TOS appear. What is causing this to happen and how do we resolve this issue?? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

OK, so your latest KPL Relay when you press any button the bottom clear set button doesn't show any color whether its red / green? If that is the case SH will need to change the Advert and update the 2014 full users manual. Lastly, does your KPL Relay beep when you press any of the buttons?!?! By default its off and the manual indicates to press and hold together B & C buttons. Doing so has no impact in enabling the beep feature. I need it to be turned on for a person with vision impairment and thus isn't a nice to have but a ~ must have!

Paul, Are you talking about LED TX? Just to be clear you have a fairly new KPL Relay and not KPL Dimmer you're speaking of? [emoji848] I don't see the option to enable / disable anything under 5.X.X Can you provide a screen shot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Purchased two Keypad Linc Relay's as part of the dimmer package during the 25% discount sale for a large project. As seen below in the link and image capture it indicates the KPL Relay offers dual colored red and green status LED's embedded under the clear set button. This is present in the various KPL Dimmers for sure as I have many of them in place. I've been told that the KPL Relay does NOT have the dual colored red and green LED under the set button?!?! Can anyone who has a recent KPL Relay chime in to confirm it either lights up or doesn't for me. https://www.smarthome.com/keypadlinc-insteon-2487s-6-button-scene-control-keypad-with-on-off-switch-dual-band-white-alt.html

PLM forgetting all links \ ISY Restore PLM fixes \ bad PLM ??
Teken replied to junkycosmos's topic in ISY994
I have purposely waited for the 2K link table 2413S PLM to arrive. Thank God, I didn't push the button during the 25% discount sale! I'm going to wait another six months to be doubly sure all the old stock is gone . . .
