    scene question

I just checked each device and the working LampLinc in the scene is listed as a B2457D2 LampLinc BiPhy v.3B and the non working LampLinc is listed as a 2457D2X LampLinc 2-Pin Dimmer v.41. Could that be my problem? I do have another LampLinc Like the one that turns on and off with the scene that I could put on the other lamp if that would help. I'll change the scene to make this other lamp come on and see if that works.

Not successful, which is no surprise. What should I do next?

    scene question

I have 2 LampLincs in my master bedroom and have a program to turn them both on. I read where doing it as a scene would be better so I created a scene with both of them as a responder and used that line in my program. Now only 1 of the lamps comes on although my ISY says they are both on. What did I do wrong? Should they both be controllers instead of responders or is something else causing it? Thanks
  4. When I got DSL at my lake house I had to have them change the DSL modem to bridge mode so my wireless router could do the work. Then I could set up a host name at dyndns.org and port forward to my ISY. Doing all of that was pretty painless. I doubt they would have given me access to the modem. That is probably your best bet too.
  5. Can't you send a message to your pager using email? I looked on the USA Mobility website and it appears you can. http://www.usamobility.com/customer_support/message_help/sending_a_message.asp

    ROuters

I'm using these at my house http://www.amazon.com/ZyXEL-Internet-Security-Firewall-Ethernet/dp/B000HPWZH4/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1346346921&sr=1-1&keywords=zyxel+zywall+2+plus http://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Wireless-Router-Gigabit-WNDR4500/dp/B005KG44V0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1346346757&sr=8-1&keywords=wndr4500 and this at my lake house http://www.amazon.com/Netgear-WNDR3400-N600-Wireless-Router/dp/B0041LYY6K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1346346461&sr=8-1&keywords=wndr3400. Went with the firewall at my regular house so I could put the WNDR4500 in bridge mode and move it upstairs for better reception. If I had 2 CAT5 jacks where I wanted to put the router I wouldn't have had to do it.
  7. I looked at my air handler in the basement and 2 wires come to the terminal strip. One would be from the thermostat and the other appears to go to the outside unit. So I just need to pull off the wire that goes to W2 that comes from the thermostat and put the IOLinc in between, right? BTW, I did buy some thermostat wire. I didn't think they sold it in 25' coil so when I saw it that way I got it.
  8. Yes you can I do it all the time. Under email/notifications and then the customizations tab, create different names like Sun Room Motion Lights On" and customized content with a subject and body. Then in your program change your line to say: Send Notification to ‘JimCellphone’ content "Sun Room Motion Lights On" Hope that helps.
  9. Connected to the switch should work fine. I have my DSL modem in the basement, then a line running to a wireless router upstairs, then another line running back downstairs to a switch. Off the switch a line runs up the my ISY in the master bedroom under the dresser.

    Attic Ventilation

I paid extra when I built my house too so I could have Icynene insulation sprayed everywhere. Love it. Kind of strange that the attic is sealed. I should have checked it out this summer when it was really hot out but didn't. What are you guys using to remotely monitor temperatures?
  11. What would the program look like to check teh outside temp and activate the IOLink? Got my IOLin today but won't be back to the lake house for a while to set everything up.
  12. Good idea on mounting it at the top of the door. My brother in law has one for his lake house and wanted my help. I was going to drill into the concrete but I like this idea better. Can you take a picture showing how you did it?
  13. Just hated to buy cable to do it. Should be a short run but I have some 18 AWG hookup wire that I will use.
  14. I've got some CAT5 wire that is 24 AWG so could use 2 wires of that for each way. So did you use the common and normally closed terminals on the IOLinc to break the aux heat wire? Care to post your preheat program?
  15. Can you run it for 42071? Thanks
  16. I never checked out weatherbug before but have heard people talk about it. So it's a module for the ISY that gets it's data from other sources so the ISY will know weather conditions. Pretty neat. And like you said, I could use that as my temp which should be close enough and then I only need the IOLinc. Illusion, is that how you did it with weatherbug?
  17. I love this idea. So what else do I need besides an IOLinc if I want to get the temp from outside? I guess I would do this at the main unit in my basement.

    firewall problem

You should be able to use the MAC address of the ISY to tell your DHCP to always give it the same IP address. Really, if you leave your ISY on, once it gets an IP address it shouldn't change since it would just renew it. Although if your router looses power then it could get a different address.
  19. That's what I figured. Too bad though. It would make my life easier if it was.
  20. Thanks Lee. One more question. Is there a way to change the deadband from stage 1 to 2 and the minutes between stage 1 and 2 from a program? I think that would be very useful for me.
  21. hmmm Guess I can't test the temp in the "Then" section? I was thinking if I could check the temp and then add 2 degrees to it and run the heat for 10 minutes. Then check it again and see what the temp is and either raise the temp or make the system rest for 5 minutes to make sure the aux heat doesn't come on from it running for a while.
  22. Thanks. Brainstorming here. Any way for the program to see what the temp is in the house and change the setpoint accordingly? Drive time is about 3.5 hours so I have quite a bit of time if I start it when I leave home.
  23. Hey all, I have a lake house that has an insteon thermostat. I'd like to have a program that I can run manually by using my phone and MobiLinc to slowly raise the temperature in the winter. I set it back when we are gone and I will have internet access this winter so I thought it would be nice to let the temp come up while driving down. I want to do it slowly because it is a heat pump and if I just raise the temp to what I want, the electric backup could come on to get it there quicker. Unless the temp outside is pretty cold, I would rather just the heat pump do the work. Can anybody help me come up with a program? I really have no idea where to start on this one. Thanks

    OutletLinc help

I went ahead and deleted it and added it back in by using the Start Linking. Last night it didn't work when I tries it that way. This time it worked and I can turn it on and off with MobileLinc so I am good to go. Not sure what you mean about the noise makers / suckers. Can you explain so I know for next time?

    OutletLinc help

Hey all, I just got an OutletLinc 2473S to use in a protected outside wall outlet to control my landscape lights. How do I add it to my ISY99i? I tried doing it (and searching) but I can't turn it on using the admin console so I must have done something wrong. It does come on if I press the button on the outlet. So I want to delete it and install it again. I don't plan on a switch controlling it, just the ISY. Thanks Greg
