A touch of the keypad button seems to work properly. It is when, by accident, the touch is too long so the keypad acts as a brighten or dim button. I can see on the admin console that the keypad button is at lets say 20% but the outlet has not turned on. I agree it is probably an Insteon issue but you guys seem more helpful and around more often.

I built a scene where I want a button on an eight button keybadlinc to control an outlet linc. The outletlinc only has on off. The keybadlinc can do dim on off brighten. I thought with this combination the keypadlinc would always send on off to properly control the outletlinc, or the outletlinc would respond to any brightness level other than zero as an on command. It does not seem to work this way. Is my assumption wrong?

I did a factory restore on each device and that cleared up the problem. I did not first remove them from the ISY. I Just installed them a few days ago and never set them into any scenes. All seems to be working nicely now. I amjust waiting for the remainder of my X10 replacement devices to arrive and the I wiil be all ISY-Insteon for all my lighting and secific appliances like water circulator, Shop vac, etc. I will then do the scene and program thing replacing what I had in Homeseer. Thanks for the help

the link tables for each of the switches show no entries. What is the best way to reset the devices? Manually as if the insteon were not there or automatically through ISY and if the latter How. Is restore device same as Factory reset?

That did it. Thanks for the speedy reply. On a slightly different topic, I have set the LED brightness on the keypad to 1 as I it appears that 0 seems to mean full on. IIRC the range is 0-15. 1 is still kind of bright. Is there any way to turn the LEDs off completely?? That would be a nice feature, but I guess that is an Insteon issue and not a Universal Devices issue.

I have a 6 gang box with five switchlinc dimmers and one 8 button keypadLinc8 I built a scene where the main button of the keypadLinc8 controls the 5 dimmers. The scene is set with a ramp rate of 8.5 seconds as are each of the dimmers in the scene and also in the folder which is the room (folder name= room name) They are in.. From admin I can use On and Off to fade in and fade out the lights just as I expected by turning the scene on and off. However when I am at the button at the wall plate on and off of the main button does a faston and fastoff of all the lights. I want it to do a regular on and off so the lights will fade from the button also. The main button of the keypadlinc 8 controls no load. Please advise. TIA, Barry

Changed my iPad code to properly handle subscriptions using SOAP and all seems to be working well now. My only question is: If I want to stop subscriptions, what is the SOAP sequence I need to use. Not an issue right now since I never stop them but perhaps someday. I probably should stop them if the app is being terminated to make sure the ISY994i releases the Communications slot, although I assume it will do that if there is rejection of a message due to connection broken or it receives a session closed message

Yes I figured that out and did successfully revert back to 3.3.10 and all is once again working as it should. I still have the issue with 4.0.2 and would like to keep current with the ISY firmware updates.

I thought I would try and revert back to 3.3.10. When I try and do manual upgrade as I usually did it tells me: Upgrade Failed: Invalid or incompatible upgrade file I believe the last time I ran 3.3.10 was with my ISY99i. I thought 3.3.10 was for both the ISY99i and the ISY994i. Once again I am confused. This has been a confusing day!! Help greatly appreciated since nothing in my home is working properly now.

The problem seems to be that it wants me to revalidate. I assume this means I need to send authorization again? The message I sent was to start subscription and what I got back was that I must revalidate. The message to start subscription did contain the proper authorization so I am quire confused. Could you point me somewhere where this is clarified and/or tell me what I need to send?

Thanks for the replies. Yes I do have the X10 module installed. I did find the relevant information. The answer as I understand it is that a scene, an Insteon nuance, will not control an X10 module, but an ISY program will control X10 module(s) and Insteon module(s). I am pretty sure that the places where I will have X10 modules after I am finished converting my lighting to Insteon will only have X10 modules. E.g. All my outdoor lighting is controlled by X10 Relay modules (not switches, just receivers) along with some special indoor fixtures like picture lighting. I currently use X10 "multibutton transmitters" to control them. so I guess I will be able to use Insteon Keypads to do the same thing but using an ISY program as the Intermediary or a Homeseer program script as I do have the ISY plugin for homeseer also working Thanks again for the replies.

Can I create scenes that consist of a mixture of X10 and Insteon responders? Of X10 responders Only? Come to think of it I am not sure how I build a scene. Could you point me to the correct How-to? Thanks

what is the voltage required to externally power the ISY99i. How critical is the voltage (externally Regulated or does the ISY handle regulation) How much power (amperage for external PSU?) No where can I find that info. It should be on the documentation where it mentions external power or stamped on the case. Thanks
