Release 2.8.1 Beta is now available
All went will. No problems. I tried to relink the EZIO4O v.ff but the i2 did not work. Was hoping to get to the internal timers. v.ff doesn't seam right but there were no version labels on the unit. Thanks Gary

Enphase Microinverters
Mark Thanks for the info. I did send an email to Enphase but have not received a reply to date. I did however find on a forum through an Internet search someone saying they had extensive X-10 installed and there was no problem. Still working at 99%. They also said that the Enphase uses 140 kHz for their power line communication. I have not found any other reference to that frequency. Thanks Gary

Enphase Microinverters
Hi all I am considering using the Enphase Microinverter for solar power production. It uses power line communications to their Envoy Communications Gateway and was wondering if anyone has had experience with these units as to weather they may or may not interfere with Insteon or X-10 communications. Thanks for any information. Gary

Can't access admin after renaming device.
Hi Michel No green 0101 icons. But I did do an install on that device and that is why I was renaming it, but I think the install had completed as I was watching the event viewer and the system busy bar had ended. Thanks for you help and if it shows up again I will try to have a bit more useful details. Thanks Gary

Can't access admin after renaming device.
Hi Rand Except I was unable to access the device at all after it was not named. The ISY over and over clocked (busy sign) at each log on attempt until I clicked on the configuration tab which stopped the clocking. I still could not access the Main tab with the devices or the program summery or the program details tabs. They remained blank. I had rebooted the PC and power reset the ISY a few times and still could not get past the clocking on the main tab. On the browser access page the device name was blank and could not be accessed. It did show the temp and set point. This had started with Rename all associated devices choice on the pop-up window. I must have done something odd during the rename process. Gary

Can't access admin after renaming device.
Hi Rand What appeared to me as being locked out was I guess the ISY busy trying to deal with an unnamed device. I was only able to access the configuration tab that changed the ISY from system busy status. Then I could get to the pull down menus for restoring. Thanks Gary

Can't access admin after renaming device.
Hi Was renaming the thermostat devices heat, cool, fan, main. Missed renaming main and it went to null after which I am unable to access the device for renaming and now that I had exited admin I am unable to log back into the admin console. Can telnet and access via browser but no way there to restore from backup? So it appears that if a device doesn't have a name you get lock out. Ver. 2.7.14 ISY-99 Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Gary Update: While admin was timing out on the Main tab after I logged in I was able to click on the Configuration tab and continue from there. That allowed me to restore the ISY back to a previous configuration.

Complex A/C control?
mitch I think it could be done with 4 cheap heat/cool mechanical thermostats connected to 4 Insteon I/O Lincs to get the temp set points from each bedroom. Then an I/O Linc to turn on the AC or program set point changes in the Venstar and finally more Insteon relay modules to open close dampers. Just my thoughts on how it could be possiable. Gary

Complex A/C control?
Hi Michel I suspect that the remotes will never be accessible via the insteon module on the Venstar.. I am surprised however that SH has not yet come up with Insteon wireless temperature modules that could be used indoors, outdoors and for monitoring water temperatures. Seams like many users have looked for such capabilities. Anyway its on my wish list. btw I am at 2.7.14 with no problems. Gary

Complex A/C control?
mitch236 I had bought the remote indoor and outdoor temp sensors for the Venstar, but unfortunately the ISY (Insteon) can't see them at least for now. I have been patiently waiting just to be able to read the outside temp into the Insteon network, but there just doesn't seam to be any way to do that. Indoors I have just added another Venstar thermostat with the Insteon adapter but it won't read below 32 degrees for outdoor use. I would think being able to easily read temperatures (indoor, outdoor, water, etc.) would be the basics for automation. Maybe soon. I would be glad to hear if there is a way. Gary

Insteon Thermostats Decision
Hi My first thermostat was the 2491T7 and never used the programming feature in the thermostat as it seamed like an involved clumsy process to deal with. Instead I have found it very easy to create and change programs in the ISY to control the thermostat. So my second thermostat was the 2491T1. Gary

Text Messaging
Hi Was just wondering if soon there will be the capability to associate text messages with recipients on the Email list. Was thinking of a message from a list of messages that can be tagged onto one or more receipients based on program conditions. Thanks Gary

Anyway to get an email if my IP Address changes
Hi AnthemAVM I too had used free DynDNS until I was blocked for excessive updates. I was trouble shooting my network and apparently sent to many updates to their DNS server. I think you are allowed only a few per 30 day period. My router must have sent an update on each power reset. I tried to find out what was considered excessive updates but could not get a number. I could have had it unblocked with a phone call but just seemed to be an added hassle. Subsequently I have switched to TZO instead. It does cost about $24 a year but the advantage is that you never have to worry about getting blocked and it to is supported in most routers. It can also run inside your network if so desired on a PC or internal router as it sends an update every 10 minutes instead of needing to detect an IP address change. Just though I would pass along my experience with DynDNS Gary

Flood/water sensor
Hi NJ_Mark I am in Clinton county near central part of the state. I opted to us my Flood Stop as a whole house flood protector and possibly using additional wired sensors to other areas. As my washer is on the floor directly above my pressure tank and Flood Stop location. I plan on having the capability for the ISY to be able to turn off the water as well. Looks like I can just solder a pair of wires across the close button and attach them to the I/OLinc's relay set for momentary action. Gary

Flood/water sensor
Hi NJ_Mark I just finished installing my Flood Stop along with cleaning up a piping maze created by the installation of a water softener. It seams to work quite well although I had to order the controller to valve extension cable as it was only 3 ft. long. I will be using an IOlinc's sensor to alert the ISY but I also thought that I could use the I/OLinc's relay output along with a resistor so that the ISY could in effect shut off the water by simulating a wet sensor. Another method would be to parallel the off button on the controller with wiring directly connected to the I/OLinc's relay. I will need to check on the feasibility of doing that but I think it would be a more reliable way of shutting off the water by the ISY. Though I would pass along my experience with the Flood Stop. Flood/water sensor
Steve I just ordered the Flood Stop (7115H2) from SH in hopes of preventing such disasters. It is self contained with a motorized shutoff ball valve. If water is detected it will close the valve and send out and audible alarm. Also it has a relay output that can be used to alert the ISY via I/O Linc where further actions could be taken with programs. Sells for $103.99 There is also a model for the washer and for an ice maker. Gary

Interesting Noise problem
Hi Jason I might suggest using an appliance module on the filter fan instead of a lamplinc. That may cause some problems. Gary

GC-100
Hi all I have been researching the Global Cache devices as a good solid reliable means of sending and receiving ON/OFF from low voltage devices. Having the network module I was able to import a relay zip file found here and saw how it functions within the ISY. I do have a question on the input sensors however. It says that an input port can be set for auto notify and will send a notification message on state change. My question is, will the ISY receive that change. I was unable to find out exactly what the GC will send. Is it to a specific IP address, that of the ISY or in the form of a broadcast or multicast. Any thoughts about making this and other type network devices more of a plug n play selection. Thanks in advance for any enlightenment. Gary

Wake on Lan Question
Brad Thanks so much for you help. I applied the autologin using the XP method and everything works great. The isy can now send a WOL packet and the PC boots up fully and remote desktop also works using the required password. Gary

Wake on Lan Question
Hi all I have the wake on LAN working, but I use a password to log on to Windows user 'Admin'. The password is required if using remote access. I was wondering if it was possible or not to boot up the PC from wake on LAN even though a password is required? I tried adding the password in the isy's wol configuration, but I think that is for something different. Thanks in advance. Gary

Status "I am home"???
Hi I have also been looking for a way to detect the prescience or not of automobiles and other things. I have found this long range reader that works with a variety of id tags. The range can be up to 600'. http://www.iautomate.com/r500ha.html Also I think this would be needed for lan access to the reader/s. http://www.iautomate.com/miracle_5104.html I do believe with this controller it could be possible for developers of the ISY to access it for statuses. Just future thinking on my part. Gary

Web Page Design
Hi all I have the network module and would like to know if there is web page design software available that would allow me to design a web page and copy it into the ISY99. I guess it would also need to create the Java scripts. Any recommendation would be appreciated. Thanks Gary

Weather Bug home station
Hi Michel I have the Davis weather system connected to the net. Besides uploading currant conditions to the WeatherLink servers every 5 minutes it only allows one additional connection at a time. Usually the WeatherLink software. I had found this information for programmers on the Davisnet site. http://www.davisnet.com/support/weather ... antagecomm I will email you my DNS and port number. I checked the port using http://www.canyouseeme.org/ and it appears to be open. Hope this is all useful. Thanks Gary

Weather Bug home station
Hi Michel That site is a little weird to say the least. Brings up more questions than answers. Emailing Davis directly I got this info. http://www.davisnet.com/support/weather ... dllsdk.asp Don't know if it will be useful or not, but I guess this all they have. I ordered the IP version of WeatherLink and will set up an open port to connect with it. If anything at the above site is useful you could connect to my unit for any testing. Thanks Gary

Weather Bug home station
Hi Michel Latest update on the ethernet interface. "In order for you to publish to WeatherBug, you will need the USB WeatherLink package. Even when the new network device comes out, you'll will connect the USB cable to the device, sign the device on your network, and use a web app to configure the streaming to WeatherBug. So I'd definitely grab the USB package. Anyway you go you're going to need it. My company, Mallard, will be producing the device itself. The technology is called WeatherStream and will be integrated into our new Wi-Net device. Wi-Net will also double as a router and save on your Internet bill, so it's going to be a great deal. You can visit wi-net.mallardcomputer.com to learn more. We're still in the marketing phase, but as soon as we gve a physical device to test I'll test it at my next keynote presentation, in which the video will be online. It will definitely stream to WeatherBug as well as the different services that WeatherLink and Ambient support. Good idea on the third party plugins. I haven't thought of it but we could offer something like this as part of an SDK. I'll bring it up at my next business meeting and see if we can add this to the spec list. Thanks for bringing that up." Gary
