The lighting element that comes with engraving. You can set the ambiant lighting so that as you approach the switches, it will light up according to your settings. Ion addition to that, you can set the color. The switches can be either a dimmer or relay as well The biggest though is the integration with AV systems. It's too notch.

I'm not staying anything of the sort. You're reading what you want into my comment when all of this is years old. Nothing new about what I've said. You are changing the subject matter to something completely off based. You're talking about government issues and putting that on insteon. Government problems would affect everyone who does business in china not just insteon. I'm referring to direct issues between 2 companies not wanting to do business with each other for one reason or another. Besides that, we all know just because there's problems doesn't mean it stops business. That's why Sonos still supports google though both are suing one another in court.

I wouldn't be surprised. The DIY market is heating up while theirs is losing ground (comparatively speaking). All of them have started coming out with lower cost systems for smaller installs and moving towards app based programming for ease of use with dealers. Granted they can't nearly do what the full sized systems do, but it's telling.
-
There's no change in relationship with China. The only relationship they have is one where china makes the products they sell. All design and programming is done in Irvine CA. (some now in Seattle for app stuff). Even if they had an issue with China, it's not like they can't work towards getting products made somewhere else. Not even sure why you think that there's a problem there. In regards to store sells, most of them were ended by insteon themselves. The terms the companies wanted didn't justify what they were making off the devices. For example, they lost money selling at best buy and Menards. They were breaking even at other places. They werent equipped for what they were attempting at that time. Simply to small to compete like that with all the other stuff they had going on at that time.

With 300 devices I'm hard pressed to believe that you only have 500 links. That would mean you only have standard switches with no scenes at all
-
Id peruse the forums and look at all the other recent posts on the subject. No electronic switch will last forever. I'd assume 5 to 10 years max in the consumer market. 10 pushing the limits. High end systems could potentially last longer..... Then again you're comparing a $50 switch to a $200+ switch. Zwave would be your best bet in regards to openness. However that doesn't mean it'll be that way in 5+ years. In my opinion, that should be the least of your concerns. Buy for today as tomorrow isn't promised. There could be something else in that time or you may be different in what you're looking for. Even with me, in my next home i plan on going with Control4 in my next home. As much as I hate the cost, i love the look and capability. What I'm looking for insteon nor zwave supplies. As you and your situation changes so will your outlook. Buying for tomorrow's ideas is a waste.
-
You don't say what the full time difference is but 300 devices should take a while with any firmware.
-
Tomorrow....Control4. They'll end up with a diy setup one day

I used to use the Eaton's before plus came out. The build quality is much much better than Jasco's and every one else's. I was disappointed to see they didn't support beaming. I was tempted to buy 1 to test to make sure it wasn't an oversight since the older model had beaming

There's 5.3.1 out right now which probably contains the fix

It's a temporary thing. I know dealers get emails from time to time updating about stock levels so that they can stock up if needed before they run out. Just like every other company, factory closures and shipping delays are affecting everyone. Go to your local best buy, walmart or home depot, you'll notice how empty they are off stuff. Even specific zwave devices are missing quite often. Granted, there are more companies with zwave devices which helps. However, if you're an installer and you use specific things on a regular basis, you'd see how much is actually lacking. With all that said, they do have a new line coming out. Some of the products have already shown up in the fcc database.

No. They are 2 different systems. It would be difficult but it is possible with 2 Isy's but you would really need to know what you're doing. If they share power, the Powerline signal could reach

Are they added to your kitchen (room)? Many people have issues when the first name matches different stuff...especially when added to a room. ie: Lights with kitchen in the name added to a room called kitchen. The assistant is already processing your command when you start with kitchen. By the time you say kitchen it's redundant in the mind of the assistant so things gets confusing once you say the actual light. For best results, add it simply by the title. Sconce, island, cabinets, etc. Then add it to your kitchen room

Big *** Fans - Wired Control Switch
lilyoyo1 replied to mbrossart's topic in INSTEON Communications Issues
Unless insteon is sending a signal non stop, I have a hard time believing that it's blocking a signal to your fan. You can open your even viewer to ensure no communication is taking place on your system while testing the fan. If there is a noisy device that you're unaware of then its possible if they communicate at the same frequencies -
I would submit a ticket to udi

It could very well be something else. However in troubleshooting, Michel is going for the most logical explanation first vs lesser options that may be out there....While it may suck if other devices cache are cleared, sometimes hard choices have to be made in order to troubleshoot and get to the root of the problem
-
Amazon has been having issues with their servers. That may be causing issues
-
Add your responders to your scene first and configure them. Once done, add your controllers. The Isy will automatically set the parameters in the controllers. Unless you want the controller to be different than the scene, this will save you time and effort
-
Is the inlinelinc part off the scene and did you configure both the scene and the controller for them to be off
-
Scenes do not override anything. When you turn a scene on, you are simply telling another device to turn on, off, or to a specific level. If you manually control a device that is part of a scene, it will do what you tell it. What exactly are you trying to accomplish

Those that know would not be able to say. If I had to guess, I'd say second quarter next year. Third at the most

Migrating Smarthings Z-wave to ISY Z-Wave
lilyoyo1 replied to PB11's topic in New user? Having trouble? Start here
There's 2 ways. The first sucks but is best. Factory reset devices. Do remove zwsve device (something like that) in ISY then add Zwave device. If you don't want to go through all that, in the Isy do remove devices from the furthest to closest. Then add devices from closest to farthest. This works if you have all zwave plus devices. -
It's true that it can still happen depending on the lights. The 2457d2 requires a minimal amount of load (5w I believe) so if your lights do not meet that level then yes it'll happen

See post on previous page on the subject

No. Not if done from the panel. It'll turn off of you manually control the device. When using control, only physical presses will trigger the program
