  1. There's going to be a few more pretty soon
  2. I'm confused since you said you don't want to rely on a hub but then talk about using systems that require a hub. From my experience with Hue and Control 4, 2.4GHz being an issue for the space is overblown. There are steps a person can take (such as changing channels) to minimize that. With that said, unless someone lives in an apartment, townhouse, or condo; most issues will be kept to a minimum. At this point, Matter doesn't matter. It'll be great for those Alexa/Google/Homekit users who want simplicity but for those desiring advanced control, I'm not seeing where it's beneficial.
  3. I am. We can chat. Lutron has a great system but the look of their standard switches has always held them back for me. With the new look, it's something Id want in my own home and my name associated with in regards to homes in working on. I like the fact that you can substitute standard sunnata switches in non automated areas to keep the same look. There are also supposed to be non rf versions of the dimmer and relay coming as well. This will come in handy (dimmer) for situations where you want to dim from multiple locations. It's a cost savings for customers who value uniformity while at the same time allowing one to still make a little more than they probably would have without. Id love for UDI to support RA3. Alot of that comes down to Lutron giving access to their API though. I know @simplextech has said he's already looked into it so that's a plus in that area. Maybe @Michel Kohanimcan check with Lutron too to help facilitate it.
  4. I'm moving on. I'll be switching to Ra3 and C4
  5. I just saw that. I guess I'll start putting some up once that one sells
  6. Zwave requires (at least they used to) secure devices to be within 3 feet of the controller. While you may have the 500 board, your locks are 300 which means that's the level your controller will be using.
  7. I'm surprised you were able to upgrade your Isy to. 16b but don't know where to find updates. It can be found on the sub-forum that says software releases and updates
  8. The 500 series board is not out of date. Im simply saying polisy and the 700 board prepares you for tomorrow. Most zwave devices available are 500 series. 700 is currently the newest release but it'll be another year or 2 before the market is saturated with those devices. With that said, even then, zwave will have a newer release and 700 will be considered old by then.
  9. Yes. You can find it on UDI's website. Unless this is a pressing need, you may be better off waiting until Polisy supports zwave and then getting polisy along with the zooz 700 series zwave module for future proofing as the 500 board (which the Isy currently supports) will not be upgraded in the future
  10. Supply issues are affecting every company. With that said if you're looking for something different, now is the time to experiment. The reason you don't see a clear answer is because there is none. Everyone has different reasons for choosing their products. There are those (like me) who value form just as much as function (and are willing to pay for it) while others like to be more involved so flashing software and so forth appeals more to them. Some just want things to work at a low cost so they are willing to choose products that fit that category. This is why I say experiment. Depending on your Isy firmware, what modules you have (or are willing to get) also plays a role. @MrBill responded while i was posting. The same thing applies to leave however. Especially the cost factor as you will need to build your network up in order for things to work properly
  11. I agree with you. Our old house we sold was 5400 sq ft heated and never had zwave issues. While hops does matter overall, it's not like it uses the first 4 devices it comes across in hop count. The biggest issues I've seen is people try to build their network using the smallest number of devices vs investing in the infrastructure to have a solid network.
  12. It's always crazy to me when a person tries to get smart with those responding to their questions for help- especially when they have multiple posts with issues. You'd think they would hold off from doing that until their issues were at least resolved
  13. 160commands. I'd have a headache trying to remember all of them. ?
  14. If it ever hits 200, I'm going to start selling a few of the extras that I have
  15. I'm out there every couple of months
  16. It's hard for a long time user of Insteon to transition to zwave due to the inherent differences between the 2. The difficulties and nuances of zwave become readily apparent. With that said, since you already have the devices, a pigtail, and planning to factory reset anyway, I'd try it one more time. What I do is add each device to the Isy, so that I know it works and the Isy can communicate with it. Starting with the device which will be closest to the Isy, I'll add it and then install in its final location. I'll then add the second device and install it, working my way out. While I'm getting my 3rd device set up, I'll run update neighbors on the second device. I'll follow the same sequence with each device. By installing next to the Isy, I rule out distance and communication issues allowing me to focus on the device itself if it doesn't work. Once at its final location, if there's communication issues, I know I need to fill in the gap somewhere. Please Note- everything you read about zwave range is open air under perfect scenarios. A device can talk across a football field outside but put it in a metal box behind walls, mirrors , and furniture (not saying this is your home), and now you can barely get communication in the same room.
  17. Orange County is much better than LA! ?
  18. First, I would make sure Network wide inclusion is turned on. This can be found in the zwave menu. Then try adding devices from their final location using that going from closest to Isy and working your way out. Zwave uses routed messaging so anytime a device is moved from its original inclusion place, its routing table must be updated. You would achieve this by doing an update neighbors as Asbril mentioned. Self heal takes time. If setting up a new network that you want to use immediately, I would not trust it. Besides, if a device has problems overall from the start, it doesn't guarantee self healing will work.
  19. That's how it's supposed to be done
  20. You are incorrect. The hub is its own separate system.
  21. There are still many people using insteon with their ISY who would like to use it with Polisy. Polisy supports the USB plm of which there is stock showing as well as with standard devices such as light switches, keypads, and outlets. Recent development has been for zwave since zwave is new technology for UDI (compared to Insteon). Insteon has had its development since the ISY26 over 10 years so its mature whereas zwave started in 2014 or so and due to the nature of its process, takes much much longer to develop for than insteon.
  22. Newer devices (zwave plus) do report status for the most part. Whether it can be used as a controller is a different story
  23. Given that you've had additional posts about other stuff and were still posting the next night about other issues (including on this thread) that cropped up, I doubt it solved it in an hour. And if it did...then closing old threads accomplished exactly what it was intended to do.
