  1. Lee, I'll have to check the links again to see if there is another one. I saw this one on line 19 and did not look further. I will try what you suggested. However I have read that if there is a bad linc that restoring a device may not fix the problem since the bad link will just be rewritten. Thanks, Eric
  2. Hello, I had an 8 button KPL (v5.9)that was not functioning well (toggle modes did not stay and communications seemed off) and replaced it with a new DB device. I did delete the old kpl from the ISY before removing it and redid all of my links from scratch, not a swap. I just hooked the old KPL up in my bench test box and re-added it to the ISY. I did a factory reset on it and had selected to remove existing links. I set up a scene with all buttons as controllers of an io linc. Communications look good and all buttons seem to be working fine, except the D button was not controlling the C button led. Not a big deal for me. The concern is that the F button, which used to control my night scene (kitchen lights and cabinet lights) is still controlling the cabinet lights. Only the load turns on, which is another KPL, not the scene since none of the other kpl buttons in the scene turn on. I then deleted all of the tests scenes and then the KPL from the ISY. I did a factory reset and then pressed the F button and the cabinet lights did not turn on. However, when I add the kpl back to the ISY the F button was controlling the cabinet lights again. Here is the event log for an on and off press. I went into diagnostics and did show links table for the cabinet lights a there on line 19 is a link with the ID for the old KPL. How do I remove this link. 19 : 0F60 : 22 06 1B.55.1D 00 1F 02 Do I need to re-add the old kpl as a controller of the cabinet lights and then remove it. I was hoping to put this KPL back into service. Thank you, Eric
  3. Second pic is the topology, originally opened in chrome, highlighted, pasted special into excel. First pic is after I removed merged cells and tried to shrink the data down into a list. I really only want one line for each KPL, just a simple device list. I did a copy paste from one of the screens in hl to get my device addresses which made adding them to the ISY much easier.I really just want to know what I have. E
  4. Hi, Is there a way to generate a simple device list. I did generate the topology, but there is too much info. I would eliminate the relationships column as well as individual kpl button rows. When I paste the data into excel, the relationships are on separate rows with merged cells, so just deleting the column leaves multi line cells for most devices. I can manually unmerge the cells and delete extra lines, but that is a lot of work. I added a bunch of devices and want to get a good inventory of everything. Thanks, Eric
  5. On the header. I have the two wire which works fine, but am thinking of getting the three wire. I do not use the io linc to control the door, only to get the status.
  6. This set up is just incredible work. For the leak sensor activation notification, isnt the variable always=9. If so, do I need to include the status key info. This notification should only be sent if there is a leak. I am using a text message for this and all of the info does not fit in one text. Cant I revise the message to only indicate a leak. I only have one leak sensor right now. The other 8, which I have sent back for an exchange should be here in a few days. When I get all 9 working there will be too much text so maybe I will need more than one activation. Maybe one for each leak sensor. Also, I only want one notification rather than two for the heartbeat per day, is this a problem: If Time is 6:00:00PM And $s.LeakSensorUtility is not 1 Then Send Notification to 'Eric text' content 'Leak Sensor Problem' Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Thank you so much for the great programming. Eric
  7. I will stick with the updated program. I just want to keep the ISY operating as efficiently as possible. However, i also want to keep my programs as simple as they need to be. Thanks, Eric
  8. We have a night scene in the great room, cabinet lights on (left) and kitchen lights on, everything else is off. I had this program to turn off the night scene kpl if the scene was not active, meaning a device not in the scene was turned on or one of the devices in the scene is turned off: If Status 'Great Room / Great Room Devices / GR Kitchen Lights' is Off Or Status 'Great Room / Great Room Devices / GR Sink KPL - A Cabinet' is Off Or Status 'Great Room / Great Room Devices / GR Island Lights' is On Or Status 'Great Room / Great Room Devices / GR Breakfast Lights (DB)' is not Off Or Status 'Great Room / Great Room Devices / GR Pantry Lights' is On Or Status 'Great Room / Great Room Devices / GR Cabinets R (DB)' is not Off Or Status 'Great Room / Great Room Devices / GR Family Room Lights' is On Or Status 'Great Room / Great Room Devices / GR Spots KPL (DB) - A Spots' is not Off Then Wait 4 seconds Set Scene 'Great Room / GR Night KPL' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') However, I was reading thru this tutorial again: http://www.adamsj.com/isy/basementA.htm and thought I should add to my program as was describe in the link: If Status 'Great Room / Great Room Devices / GR Spots KPL (DB) - A Spots / GR Spots KPL (DB) - F Night' is not Off And ( Status 'Great Room / Great Room Devices / GR Kitchen Lights' is Off Or Status 'Great Room / Great Room Devices / GR Sink KPL - A Cabinet' is Off Or Status 'Great Room / Great Room Devices / GR Island Lights' is On Or Status 'Great Room / Great Room Devices / GR Breakfast Lights (DB)' is not Off Or Status 'Great Room / Great Room Devices / GR Pantry Lights' is On Or Status 'Great Room / Great Room Devices / GR Cabinets R (DB)' is not Off Or Status 'Great Room / Great Room Devices / GR Family Room Lights' is On Or Status 'Great Room / Great Room Devices / GR Spots KPL (DB) - A Spots' is not Off ) Then Wait 4 seconds Set Scene 'Great Room / GR Night KPL' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Can you help me understand what the ISY does in each instance. In the new program if the Night KPL is not lit, the program is false and stops. For the first program does the ISY continuosly check the status of each device, or only if one device in the program changes status. Good education. Thanks, Eric
  9. Yes, the manual runs worked, Even before switching to the dual band. I may have noise on my system. My circuit tracer is picking up a false signal on my panel. Apparently a cfl can generate a false signal and interfere with insteon transmissions.. I'll have a chance this weekend to try to find a faulty cfl. I have not replaced one in a while. Thanks for your help. Eric No duplicate lights/scene names.

    newbie product list

I have two itach flex devices. Available from the roomie store, smarthome, others.
  11. Yes, I came home at 115AM, work not partying, and the landscape lights were on as I wanted. However, I then turned off the work late KPL button which should have run the else and turned off the lights, but they did not turn off. I did switch out the appliance linc to a new dual band device. Here is the level3 event viewer when I sent on on via the admin console to the landscape lights directly and then ran the IF of the work program. It looks like communications are good. Thanks, Eric

    newbie product list

I accidentally bought a itach flex wifi instead of the wired. I ended up keeping it then adding the wired version. However, I began to have problems with the wifi version that was supposed to be fixed with a firmware upgrade. Global cache swapped out my wifi for a wired version, I paid shipping. Both wired versions work great. I did get houselinc to send commands to one itach. Now that I am on the ISY I am thinking about the network module, but don't think I need it. If you use serial then an itach can only control one device. With IR, you can control many more although maybe not as well. I have one itach that controls a tv, cable box via IR in one room with a feed thru the wall to control the tv an soundbar in the next. The Tivo, and WDTV live hub are both IP controllable. I dont think the ISY is intended to run you AV equipment. You will get a lot more function with customizable remotes with Roomie.

    newbie product list

You are asking for a lot, but I like where you are going with all of this. I use roomie remote which is only for ios devices. It integrates very well with the isy. It can be used to control up controllable devices they have a compatibility list on their site. For non ip controllable devices you will need itach devices. That can take care of your av system and lights. Press a button, tv comes on, lights dim. Make sure to check out the smarthome forum where you can get great advice on devices for your whole house set up. Eric
  14. Lee, Here is a screen shot for the programs. The load is a standard landscape transformer/timer box that has been on the appliance linc controlled flawlessly by HL for a couple of years. A few months ago I added an intermatic timer for moon lightsto it and that has also functioned fine. When I first started setting up my ISY a few weeks ago the appliance linc was one of the first devices I added with a simple on/off program which worked fine. I may be having communication issues but right now I do not think I am. Since I am off of HL it does not appear that I am having the same problem with my breakfast lights flickering. I am picking up the tracer signal on my panel which is new and could be noise. However, everything seems to be working fine in the house. I am going to switch out the applicance linc for the DB device. Ideally, I won't be coming home from work in the middle of the night often, but when I do, like i did this morning, it is good to still have the landscape lights on. Thanks, Eric
  15. Here are the two programs: If Status 'Hall and Foyer / Hallway KPL8 - A - Hallway / Hallway KPL8 - F - Work' is Off And Time is 11:59:00PM Then Set 'Outside / Landscape Lights' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') If From Sunset - 2 minutes To Sunrise - 1 hour (next day) Or ( From Sunset - 2 minutes To Sunrise - 1 hour (next day) And Control 'Hall and Foyer / Hallway KPL8 - A - Hallway / Hallway KPL8 - F - Work' is switched On ) And Control 'Hall and Foyer / Hallway KPL8 - A - Hallway / Hallway KPL8 - F - Work' is not switched Off Then Set 'Outside / Landscape Lights' On Else Set 'Outside / Landscape Lights' Off I bought a new dual band appliance linc for the tree that I can swap out for the single band device controlling the landscape lights. It could be a communication issue, but when I tested the programs this morning by running the thens and else the lights turned on and off ok. I still am not sure what to do about possible communication or noise issues. https://www.smarthome.com/forum/topic.a ... 4179#76185 Thanks, Eric
  16. My landscape lights did not turn on tonight. I got home just after sunset and changed the programs to turn on the appliance linc directly, not the scene. I tested the thens and else in the programs and the lights turned on and off appropriately. Unfortunately, I had to go into work for a while at 830pm, so I hit the work late Kpl. When I got home at 1am, the landscape lights were on. Good. However, when I turned the work late Kpl off, the lights did not go off. I tested the else in my program and the lights turned off. Turning off the Kpl should have turned the lights out. Thoughts? Eric
  17. Got it! Missed the control vs status point again. Ill trouble shoot my possible communication problem this weekend. Eric
  18. No, that is not how that logic works. The switch was indeed "not switched off". This program will be true at sunset - 2 minutes. There really is no way for this program to not trigger and be true at sunset - 2 minutes. Sorry, I made a typo, the kpl was off.
  19. And the second: If From Sunset - 2 minutes To Sunrise - 1 hour (next day) Or ( From Sunset - 2 minutes To Sunrise - 1 hour (next day) And Control 'Hall and Foyer / Hallway KPL8 - A - Hallway / Hallway KPL8 - F - Work' is switched On ) And Control 'Hall and Foyer / Hallway KPL8 - A - Hallway / Hallway KPL8 - F - Work' is not switched Off Then Set Scene 'Outside / Landscape Lights' On Else Set Scene 'Outside / Landscape Lights' Off I think there is a problem with this program. It was sunset-2 minutes. And the KPL button was not 'not switched off'. (Edit: it was OFF). So the prgram was false, so it went to the else. Eric Edit: typo on my part, the kpl was off.
  20. Hello, I am going to hold off on doing anything with the shower devices for now. When I came home last night after sunset and the work late kpl button was off my landscape lights were not on. I had created a scene for them, (only the appliance linc that they are plugged in to is a memeber). Not sure if this was from my programming or other problem. Before we created these new work programs I used a simple on/off program with the action to turn on/off the appliance linc directly, not a scene. This weekend I'll rework the programs to just include the device rather than the scene. I did start having some communication problems a few weeks ago, including flickering of my breakfast lights when they were at 70% with insteon traffic or when some electrical devices such as the refrigerator or AC kicked on. Now things things seem better, but maybe I am biased since just after the problem started I began to migrate to the ISY. However, I tried to use my outlet tracer this weekend and found out that I am getting a strong signal (not generated by my tracer) on one circuit, the outlets in my son's room. I unplugged his baby camera, but that did not resolve things. Otherwise he just has an alarm clock plugged in. Interesting, when I turned off that breaker, the signal moved to another breaker, and I was not able to trace from the tone generator. I may try to work back around the house to see if I can ID the source of the noise. Thanks, Eric. THis is the outlet tracer I have, plus a socket and outlet adapter to trace from a fixture:
  21. I do want to be able to turn the fan off manually, especially in the morning when I leave for work early. I don't want the noise to wake up my wife when I open the door. I can get out of the bathroom thru our sitting room but have to open the door to the bedroom so our 15 year old geriatric chihuahua can get into the bathroom to a wee wee pad. If there is a program to keep her from missing it let me know. Eric
  22. Here are my the two programs just as you described. Sorry for not pasting properly previously (say that three times fast) with code. I'll let you know as soon as I have an opportunity to see if it works, ideally I'll be sleeping during those times. If Status 'Hall and Foyer / Hallway KPL8 - A - Hallway / Hallway KPL8 - F - Work' is Off And Time is 11:59:00PM Then Set Scene 'Outside / Landscape Lights' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') And the second: If From Sunset - 2 minutes To Sunrise - 1 hour (next day) Or ( From Sunset - 2 minutes To Sunrise - 1 hour (next day) And Control 'Hall and Foyer / Hallway KPL8 - A - Hallway / Hallway KPL8 - F - Work' is switched On ) And Control 'Hall and Foyer / Hallway KPL8 - A - Hallway / Hallway KPL8 - F - Work' is not switched Off Then Set Scene 'Outside / Landscape Lights' On Else Set Scene 'Outside / Landscape Lights' Off I watched the video for the variables and now have a good basic understanding. Ill have to change the value to zero. Create a program if work kpl status/control is on, set value =1. Second program if off set value =0. Then use the programming as you described. I was thinking about using variables for my 30 minute shower fan timer. The problem can be that if the fan is already on and someone gets in, the fan may turn off on them. Same thing with the light. However, both devices are controlled by kpl buttons, with the switchlincs in the attic above. So there would be no way to click on to add to the timer. Now I have it set up where I can turn the fan or light off and the timer program stops. Then turn the device back on to re-initiate the timer. Thank you for the great help. Eric
  23. I had no idea Costco sold Insteon. http://www.costco.com/Insteon-Dimmer-Sw ... 83308.html These dual band switches work out to $37 each including shipping. They list a model number that I am not familiar with, however. I assume this is just a Costco thing and that they are in fact 2477D switches. Anyone have any experience here? They also come with screwless cover plates which I suppose is worth a buck or so. Thanks for your help in the other threads. And a sarcastic "thanks" for the costco link. I just dropped a bunch of cash for new devices during the sale. I always like to have a few on the shelf in case I want to add some switches. Now that the sale is over I felt no urge to buy anything. Hard to pay full price after getting the deal. Now that I see costco has dimmers, hard to resist the urge to add a few more. As if we don't spend enough in costco already. I have seen some of the kits in our local warehouse. Eric
  24. I'll have to study your program a bit more to figure out all of the parentheses. The lights should not be on outside of the sunset to sunrise time, so hitting the KPL button outside of those times should not be a problem. I am completely lost on the variable issue. I do not know what to enter on this screen, or how to attach the kpl to the variable name. There is nothing in the users guide, and the wiki doesn't start with the basics. I am looking thru the variable threads. If you have a suggestion for a place to about learn variables from the beginning (entry level step by step) I would appreciate it.Thanks. Eric
  25. I'll try to test it tonight. But, not sure I can stay up that late. There is some type of tree falling in the forest analogy there. Thanks, eric
