Problems Linking A New KPL
Thank you sir. It has been year4s since I have set one of these up. I tried linking using the insteon address. I have not tried the setup button. Would you tell me where that is located? Is is accessible w/o removing the device from its installed location? If that doesn't work I will travel in May to a location where I have couple of spares. I will return one to this location and use a power cord to try linking it. If it links, I will pull the one I am trying to install and replace the one that's there/ The switch that I installed obviously has power and it is replacing one that worked for years. Nest step, try the setup button. Thanks for your patience.

Problems Linking A New KPL
Recently an old KPL completely disappeared form the Admin Console Repeated factory resets all failed so I purchased a new replacement KPL. Now, I cannot get the device to link. I get the message "Cannot determine Insteon Engine." Firmware and UI are noth 4.9. The ISY is a 994i. All devices are Insteon.. Everything else is working fine. Is it possibel the new KPL purchased from Insteon is the problem? Ant help will be appreciated.

KPL Problem
I tried to relink the KPL twice. No soap. I got the message about insteon engine. I believe it is dead given the way one KPL button disappeared first then the device and, finally the remaining buttons. I used the link new device feature. Thanks. i have ordered a replacement.

KPL Problem
Yesterday, the “B” button on an 8-button KPL (2334-222) disappeared from the device tree but the other buttons remained in the tree. Ultimately, I have factory reset the KPL three or four times as I have tried to get the button back in the device tree. Now, the KPL and all its buttons have disappeared from the device tree! Fortunately, I can still use previously created Alexa commands to control most things. And, where buttons on other keypads overlap I can use those as well. It appears I may have a dead keypad. I am nearing age 80, and I don’ t want to face the challenge of replacing the KPL unless I have no choice. Any suggestions are welcome.

Lost KPL Buttons
I decided to factory reset this KPL and another I had installed and was doing the same thing. The KPL buttons for both then properly appeared. I offer this for others who may face similar problems.

Lost KPL Buttons
No backup because I was installing a new KPL unless you are referring to the time prior to the start of installation.

Lost KPL Buttons
I was changing the names of some buttons on a 6-Button KPL. My old fingers must have accidentally deleted the buttons from the console. Is there a way to get them back short of deleting and reinstalling the KPL?

Replace Togglelinc 2466S With On/Off Switch 2477S
An ancient Togglelinc has failed. I have factory reset it multiple times and selected Restore Device and Write Updates multiple times and the red apostrophe remains. I plan to replace the switch with an On/Off Switch (2477S). I haven't done this in about a decade so I wanted to draw upon the expertise on this forum before proceeding. The Replace Device function appears the method of choice, but my understanding is that I must first add the new device. Is that true? If so I am going to have to fabricate a means of doing that using a modified extension cord! Or, can I remove the old switch, wire in the replacement and then use the Replace Device function. That would seem to be the more logical approach. Thanks for feedback.

Launcher Not Working!
Unfortunately, I do not have UD Mobile because I am on firmware 4.9. I just noticed that both URLs were prefaced with https, which historically has meant they were the remote URLs. I have always used admin admin for the local URLs and my address and a password for the away URLs so I tried doing that for the displayed URLs. Voila! At least I can access the Launcher now but why is the local URL not displaying in the Launcher? Forgive me for missing this, but I am almost 80 and not the sharpest anymore?

Launcher Not Working!
I did as you suggested. Now I can see the Launcher window and my URLs. However, when I double-click the URL for the Away ISY (325 mi) I get nothing but a blank screen. When I select the local ISY I get the Authentication screen but ythe password is not accepted (Failed Retry). The local password has never been changed. It is as if the local URLs are incorrect. Where does the SY get those? Ther Portal, as previsiously noted, has no trouble.

Launcher Not Working!
Now I get Admin Console icon on the desktop with admin.ljnlp icon but selecting the Admin Console produces the message "Unable to open the application". Error: JAR resources in JNLP file are not signed by the same certificate. The Portal finds and accesses both ISY's with no problem.

Launcher Not Working!
I have downloaded a new jnlp.file and emptied the cache. The launcher opens and both my isy's appear. Selecting the cloud option and using my password admin admin fails for both isy's. Help will be appreciated.

A KPL No Longer Has Backlighting Of Buttons
I am running into a time crunch since this is a vacation home and I am leaving soon. Plus, as I noted, my abilities have become limited with age. First, how do I delete the KPL from my ISY. Then, how do I add it back. I know how to restore it. I checked by resources and I have three 6-button KPLs but no 8-button. I may have one at my primary residence, but I won't know un5il I get there.

A KPL No Longer Has Backlighting Of Buttons
Further info. I accessed the kpl using the loX Finder. Received, "Failed communication with. Canot communicate, please check communications". All buttons now display red exclamation points. How could I confirm that a restoration completed without errors?

A KPL No Longer Has Backlighting Of Buttons
Unfortunately, I wrote too quickly. After a factory reset and restoration the button for devices light and I thought the problem was solved. However, a press of that button or any of the others does nothing. I have since done another reset and restoration with the same outcome. Fortunately, I can still control the devices with Alexa. I am wondering if I may have a bad PLM. Any thoughts for next steps?

Launcher Error Messages and KPL with no Button Back-Lighting
I have now done this twice and a Launcher icon is not displayed on the desktop. Nevertheless, when I double-click on the start.jnlp icon on the desktop the launcher itself launches and all its features are there. So, seems like no big deal.
