Question / comment 1: There aren't a lot of options for the If for smoke / smoke co like battery, is it possible to get those? A comment is that the temp/humidity sensor if statements are under Status, and the Smoke/Smoke CO under control. Question 2. When looking at iox, there is a field for "self check" that appears as "1'. I would l Iike to create notifications on failed selfcheck through the notification plugin as well. Provided that self check appears as part of making an "if", I'd like to know how to interpret. Guessing "1" is a pass as I self checked them all with the app, and "0" would be a fail?

If you haven't, pick a few devices, right click on them one at a time and pick "restore device".

Some devices arent responding to voice commands
paulbates replied to andrew77's topic in Amazon Echo
That's what I would do. The plm losing it's pep could mean it's dying. Trying to fix insteon on the old plm will turn into charging your tail. if you can, do this Set up eisy with USB plm Pick an isy back up from before you started having problems if possible. Otherwise the plm problems may move to the eisy Restore the backup and restore plm. Plan on this part thougha while as the insteon problems get addressed here Deal with wireless devices and problems Back it up Review fix programs back up again -
Some devices arent responding to voice commands
paulbates replied to andrew77's topic in Amazon Echo
If you're going to upgrade to eisy directly, right now, and not continue using your isy, then I would get the USB version If you'll keep using your isy for some period prior to upgrading to eisy, you'll have to have the serial model. Because of the effort to migrate to a new plm, I would do it in a way that you only do it one time -

The isy has a serial port, and the eisy has USB. If you get the serial now, they make a cable as a converter... I would really suggest that and not starting over again when you get an eisy -

If you have an isy 994, then yes -
Yep. I've been using the ecobee plugin for several months and don't have any problems with it

Unfortunately you are the victim of bad timing. On of the underlying pg3x support libraries changed (MQTT) and caused new installs of of plugins to break. I see MQTT error messages in your error log above. UDI will work to restore it tomorrow, read this thread

Copying program contents to a new program
paulbates replied to glacier991's topic in IoX Program Support
You can also simply right click and "copy" the entire program and then rename it and "remove" the if and replace it with what you want -
Right, understood Mark. I'm wondering if installing the drive makes it a different volume, etc, so that that HA vm script wouldn't work (?) Paul

Related question: I haven't added home assistant, and have no immediate plans to, but .. If I do this ssd upgrade process to my stock eisy, and at some point want to execute the script to add an HA VM to my eisy, would that script be exactly the same on the HW modified eisy?

I would submit a ticket as this is something other users haven't run in to. I have to believe UDI will help you navigate this.

It was a close competition. We wanted to go up one screen size from the prior TV. Costco had 2 competitive TVs in that screen dimension, one Samsung and one LG. The TV I sold with my house was an LG and I told my wife that LG was a better UI, including that pointing cursor remote. But side by side, the picture of the Samsung was better and I would have regretted that.. the picture is really good. While LG also had pages of boiler plate to accept, they didn't have an HA solution being pressed on me.. setup was on the TV and much more simple

Thanks Javi, I will think about that. I went through the progression of Harmony IR remotes and ended up with the hub at my last house, but never integrated it, it allowed me to have "1 remote to rule them all". Today it's one Samsung TV in the living room... with a MI Box (androidTV).. which needs to be manually switched on with its google IR remote. (I did something to the TV's settings to cause the MI box to switch off when switching away from it as input). I also have a palm sized keyboard remote to enter searches into one of the apps that won't accept voice input (Cinema 2) Your solution would resolve having an Alexa spoken Turn on MI Box Turn on TV Select HDMI2 select the desired app and launch it Irtach is a good alternative to consider, thanks

I would certainly pay for that capability and test on my tv if needed. In my last house, before I had an ISY I had homeseer and there was a Samsung plugin for it that worked well. I'm guessing Alexa spokens -> iox program -> plugin -> TV .... would work as well as Alexa splokens -> (smartthings?) -> TV. .. except the first would avoid smart things, if it proves to be problematic, tbd I did go through the plugin store and the AV capabilities are there, but not for Samsung.

@Michel Kohanim... yep, similar, On/Off, choose HDMI source. We have an MI Box which is also android tv I use google as my cloud/photo storage.. hadn't thought of that access to pictures on the tv, will see if that's possible... thanks!

I bought a Samsung tv later last year. Just to set it up, I had to roll through a lot of terms boiler plate and accept. Then it was insistent that I use smart things to complete the setup; I didn't want to but went there anyway... to find the app had multiple pages of boilerplate to even install it. After getting frustrated with the amount of time it was taking and the amount of PII they wanted to collect.. I stopped and googled and found there was a way on the TV to setup without smartthings, which i then deleted from my device. In prior years it would be the TV listening advertising on SSDP and a compatible digital assistant or home automation controller discovering that. I'm going to try when I'm back in town end of next week... I don't really want to do this but there's a sizable pile of WAF lurking here 😉

Thanks @theitprofessor. My routers have included VPN servers and I had one set up before i retired from a full time travel job and had a windows work laptop that would allow me to run java. Then the ISY portal was released and used that as a (I think the right term is) reverse proxy... I authenticated to the ISY portal and connected through it for ISY for iox/ac remote access from around the country. I continue to have no open firewall ports to my lan or server to run or keep updated. Around the time I retired I went through a period of ~5 years of mostly just using the things I automated and rarely logged in to my ISY. Then sold that house, pc & the ISY and all the iot. I switched to an iPad Air as my main device.. It doesn't run java and not wiling to jailbreak it. I'm in a new-to-me house and have started all over again (of course 🤪) which is how I ended up on vnc. In this new world I'm using the eisy as an internet appliance and stepping back from server setup, maint, etc for both my ISY and router.. no more ssh, RPIs, servers for now. Iox and Plugins are getting me where I need to go.

Vnc is relatively easy to use for iox/ac. An advantage of realvnc is that it's server module now calls out to a secure login service, like eisy with portal are. Secure login, no firewall ports open on my router.... but it doesn't appear to support a lot of less common os variants. The version of W10 on the current pc that I vnc into is the home version, so no RDP service enabled. Even if I pay for realvnc subscription for a number of years, it's still cheaper than buying yet another nuc/appliance with the version of w11 that supports RDP. (I've not used RDP for many years, so that may have changed)

In my new house, the iox/ac box is an older windows machine that does the job great, but also not in a convenient location and has some shared duties that my wife has and sometimes I wait. I would love to have a minimalist headless box to run windows for the sole purpose of RDP in for iox/ac. I know it's possible to run iox/ac on Linux/BSD/ect if a windows license is not available. I tried that on raspbian at my last house and getting it to work was beyond me.

Resources will not be a problem with my phone... it's more: "why oh why is my phone involved in a conversation between my tv and Alexa?? Not to mention the "privacy invasion" of their apps on the tv and phone. Thanks for the response, I'm going to see how far I get trying to meet simply defined functional requirements given how Samsung software works
-
Having said that, the function set for Insteon devices is focused, specific. I've been buying them since I think 2006 and never needed a firmware upgrade.
-
Insteon users cannot firmware update devices. What you're shipped is what you get. I use i3 paddles and an outlet and they all work as expected.
