Repair of 2413S PLM When the Power Supply Fails
I’ve got 2 SyncroLincs that detect that dishwasher and washing machine are running that are critical to determine if hot water supply line pump should be on. For example the pump is not run if security is armed away unless say the dishwasher is running. But I digress.. The SyncroLincs were discontinued years ago. I’m not sure if it was low volume on sales or there were issues with them. Has anyone opened them up for repair? Mine are still going but I was considering recapping at very least as a preventative measure.

Repair of 2413S PLM When the Power Supply Fails
Hi. Just a bit of history here and nothing new... I keep a log of everything I've done with ISY, devices, PLM and Nodeservers since it was installed in new house 04/2009. Great reading if you have insomnia. 04/2009 Installed with 2412S 03/2013 Replaced with 2413S 11/2014 Replaced with 2413S 12/2015 Replaced with 2413S 10/2016 Replaced with 2413 V2.0 which had 250V capacitor but had not shown any issues (I have rebuilt and new spare) 12/2021 Recapped the 10/2016 V2.0 PLM with switching power and higher voltage capacitors and left it in service Let's see how it goes.

Insteon units are failing, what should I do next?
They were rigid built. I’ve still got 6 from 12 years ago and all still work. They have a bright LED on the side and it blinks as Insteon signals are seen. No guarantee it works but a very good sign.

I repaired 6 out of 7 I had with capacitor replacements.

Serial PLM discontinued according to smarthome
Do I recall reading you’re a dealer / installer? If so, I would love to conversation offline. Don’t want to stir pot here more than necessary. That said, I too and impressed by Lutron and RA3. My feeling is there will be a few dominant protocols and manufacturers based on who builders start installing on a routine basis. There will likely be low, medium, and high end options. I’d like to see UDI perhaps on Polisy as a certified controller for RA3. Michel and team are best I’ve ever dealt with.

If statement comparing two state variables
As long as they are state variables like you named and indicated it will trigger on a change to either variable. Off the point and not a suggestion, I learned to program years ago so it’s funny to me seeing the short variable names. Mine would be named Indoor_Air_Quality_State.

Finally Upgraded to 5.0.16C – Insteon Keypad Buttons No Longer Sync (via Porgrams)
I see that you fixed it issue. I utilize Insteon scenes and the protocol keeps them in sync almost instantly if you have good comms. This is especially true if all devices are dual band. Were you getting cases where remote device did not set keypad button light that were in a scene together or you don’t use scenes with keypad button and remote device are in a scene together?

2413S PLM work around?
Two main issues with Insteon devices. There is a general lack of stock on all devices and it’s unclear (at least to me) if it’s related to supply chain issues or that Smartlabs is moving away from them to a new line in partnership with Nokia. Smartlabs very possibly will/ has discontinue(d) the 2413S due to lack of demand. From what I’ve researched, ISY users are about the only group still dependent on it and primarily due to failures not new installs. Other platforms supported both the serial and usb version or only the usb version. Twelve years ago when I started using Insteon, every PC had built in serial ports but no motherboard I’ve seen has had them in years. The ISY on Polisy supports both serial and usb. I’m looking to either find another reasonable protocol if Insteon ends. I like the look and reliability of Lutron so new RA3 is in my sights. It may depend on if a nodeserver can be developed for it or it gets native support on Polisy. I’ve got lots of Insteon spares so time for it or another better option to arise. In my opinion, for the long term, it has to go from a diy/luxury install to something builders install on a regular basis. I have not had any success with Z-Wave except 2 Schlage deadbolts and it required 5 repeaters to get them reliable. Tried to move to 500 series and spent two full days before moving back to 300 series. However others have great success with it. From reading here and other places it appears you have to have a dense mesh for success. My house is full of Insteon devices so mixing them is not an option now. I have a 700 series zwave usb stick for polisy and will try again with it.

2413S PLM work around?
PLM is basically two PCBs. The main PCB has a switching power supply with both undersized and cheap capacitors and appears to be identical between 2413S and 2413U PLMS. The other PCB is either a serial daughter board or USB daughter board. The main PCB is typical failure point and can be repaired by replacing the power supply capacitors or pulling the serial daughter board on the 2413S and putting it in a 2413U. There may be a few other devices that share the same main board as in the irrigation controller.

2413S PLM work around?
If you’re capable of soldering, replacing the caps is a simple and highly effective fix. The hardest part for most is removing the existing ones.

Repair of 2413S PLM When the Power Supply Fails
I’ve read about doing this on many occasions. What revisions are the PLMs. The couple PLMs and 7 access points I’ve repaired had room to install the large capacitor straight up but it did not leave room for one screw in that corner to be reinstalled holding the PCB in casing.

You need to read link before commenting. The device pings an outside IP address and when there is no response it power cycles the devices.

Help please!
Go to this topic and find header for Install. The first download link is what I think you’re looking for. Follow instructions from there on and since new no pesky upgrade needed. /topic/33287-release-534-test-build-is-now-available/

No big deal since all new. Just download correct firmware and load it. Are you going to go with latest 5.3.4?

Nodeserver Migration to ISY on Polisy
It may be here somewhere but I can’t find it. What is architecturally different between PG2 and PG3 nodeservers? My old guess was that if ISY and Polygot are both on Polisy, node updates would be direct inside the box instead of via network. However, it sounds like standalone ISY can talk to PG3.

Thanks, that’s what I thought but I never purposely clear it except for ISY FW upgrades. Ill look over settings to see if some sort of auto clear setting.
