Would like to control new skylight shades
hart2hart replied to Athlon's topic in New user? Having trouble? Start here
Before I start, the following is a kludge I’l used years ago. Way before nodes, polyglot and Polisy. I took RF remotes apart and soldered the button contact points to relays. I used an IR controlled relay board but same could be done with a RPi relay board. When IR or network command for RPi is sent, it momentarily close the relay which mimics a button press. If you can hide setup and cost of extra remotes is not an issue, it works great but is far from elegant. I know nothing about zigbee and interfacing to it so Keep looking for better but as a backup… -

You are correct.

I wrote following conservative guide to move from 4.x to 5.x https://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/26381-upgrade-from-473-to-5015a-task-list/
-
Agreed. Michel and UDI are the very best I’ve ever worked with!
-
Is your ISY backup file corrupt or the SD card?
-
MrWorf, Thank you for trail blazing. As we have suspected, it works with a 2413U. I added a LampLinc to my backup ISY and then turned it off and on several times. See images.
-
Typo. Lol
-
Fabulous! I hope to get solder gun out and hook up to duplicate with the2413U. I had been reading about boot times so it’s great that you’ve found excellent resources to get rid of extra processes.
-
Congratulations! I’ve got all the parts today. I’ll work to duplicate using the 2413U in next couple days.
-
Sounds good. The 2413U as suspected does not provide any power. Be interested to see if you can get power from ISY.
-
Fantastic! I’m going to start work on seeing if I can apply this to the 2413U. One question … which RS232 to TTL adapter do you plan to use? I plan to use onboard RPi UART so I don’t think I’ll need it but it may make it more reliable. Edit. I ran it on rpi3 and it found the internal serial ttyAMA0 and the usbserial ttyUSB0 of the 2413U! The breakout connector you listed will be here tonight and I’ve got a backup ISY. I’ll add a lamplinc to it for a very simple test.

Both USB ports can power the RPi Zero wireless. The one marked power does not have data pins.
-
Gotcha. I found a few cases to 3D print to keep it contained.
-
That’s what I thought. I haven’t looked yet but feels like PiZero should be able to get power from the PLM USB port. Also, I look to see if any cases for pizero have been uploaded to thingiverse.com to modify or use as is.
-
Congratulations. Do you think the same would apply to a 2413U dual band usb PLM? I ordered one and about to set off on what you’ve done for this device. I’ll wait to see GitHub!

You can’t replace since they do not match. You can look in the admin console when you select the device and it will display which scenes they are a controller and a responder. Even better you can generate a topology in a document. In programs you can find by the device name. I’d copy all programs to clipboard and then paste into a text document. Then you can locate each program with the device name after deleting them and then fix programs like before likely with the same name.

Restore the switches via ISY. You’ve likely got a link in the switches that’s not in the ISY.

I created update list in following post. https://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/26381-upgrade-from-473-to-5015a-task-list/
-
I’d take option 2 now but reconsider before I closed up the walls.
-
Thanks. They had/have them in stock at SmartHome. I bought one at their normal price. To be clear I have 1 plm in the wall and more in the box when this started looking like an issue. I just wanted to see if I could engineer a solution others could use.

It is supposed to be called DE-9 where E is the smaller shell size. Since early PC had DB-25, the B was just carried over but is technically wrong. Trivia for the day. ?
-
As always, thanks to you UD team for excellent product, service, and support. Still the best I’ve ever encountered.
-
Out of pure curiosity, I ordered a 2413U. Gonna hook it to RPi with usb A to B cable. Then hook up an USB A to serial converter to RPi. I’ve used several of them on PC. See if drivers exist that will recognize the devices and if I can locate them try to write software to connect reads and writes between them.

I totally agree. My process is helping someone with a need for plm today. Can usb version be converted to serial for ISY ? If do they could order snd get back online. No prediction of future. Just pragmatic help out s fellow ISY user if possible right now.
