Is there support for Insteon Thermostat in ISY944i?
hart2hart replied to raymondjiii's topic in ISY994
Thermostat and 24 VAC wall wort to power it. Thermostat is open. There is a flip cover to hide all but LCD display. I bought wall wort and wired it into thermostat terminals. It’s in unfinished basement on back side of wall — not pretty. Lol -

T7900 (3 of them) and I use NodeLink and used Venlink before it. I’m making plans to migrate my PG2 node servers and potentially NodeLink to PG3. Very time constrained now so have to phase it all out. -

I just got into the office. I can look at mine later today. Do you have one now or are looking at one on eBay? If you’re looking for a good thermostat, it falls very short. I’d get Venstar with Node server or NodeLink to get data into the ISY. -

Yes, you can link to them. Depending on the version of thermostat, it may require you to query it. Newer versions send updates on more regular basis. I use 2 of them to monitor temperature in basement and media server closet. -
Perfect! As a temporary solution, I had setup an email notification and was collecting data in an email account so just had to add text to subject for file name and to append. It took me a few minutes to figure out how to add newline. Given it's unix/linux , I assumed it was some combo of \n\r. Turned out to be a simple hitting return in the body of the message. LOL

Not questioning your desire, but I’ve never seen a thermostat that didn’t have a deadband of about 2 degrees or else it would short cycle. Also, saw ones that would under or overshoot set point by a degree and in effect create a 2 degree deadband. What are your expectations on the 1 degree deadband?

Thanks. That’s my question. Write them with what and to where?

I’m writing an irrigation program that: 1. Store Flume Node server Today Gallons in variable Flume_Start 2. Turns on and off each zone 3. Store Flume Node server Today Gallons in variable Flume_End 4. Calculate difference _Start between _End into variable Water_Used At this point, how can I log DateTime, Start variable, End variable, Water_Used Network resource to send it to a service?

Michel and UD are by far the best company I have ever encountered. I’m not picking an argument (and will not be responding further)but want to make it clear to other people that may see your post that other (most) UD customers are exceptionally pleased. Your interaction is proof that they will do whatever is required to make customer first priority. I’ve never experienced a HW failure in 13 years with them. ISY99, ISY994, and now POLISY. I bought a spare isy994 couple years ago in case it ever died (electronics do that. They don’t live forever) but it’ll likely never exit the box as I am making plans to move fully to POLISY. In fact, I’ve bought a backup POLISY so I’ll never be stuck without it. It’s the center of my home automation. Large Insteon installs could never have been possible without the ISY. I have a large install and original PLM died. Michel personally called me after seeing my post. What a mess it would have been without ISY to replace all the links. Same thing for replacing a dimmer in many scenes. POLISY and it’s capability to be technology agnostic is great and getting better. This is not purely the technology but the incredible support that’s starts at the top of the company.

Michel, I had no idea they were not cooperating. How did the cloud version exist? I used the PGC version and in fact it was a big part of the reason I chose Ring devices since they were integrated within UDI environment. How can I help? I’m amazed that’s even a question they ask you as it will sell more product like it did me. It Should be more about can you make it secure etc.

I have a pc1864. The standard keypad programming is very tedious and not intuitive unless you are a security system installer. I got access to DSC software DLS 5. On hardware side, you need the 1864 panel, a TLink to get IP based access to panel for software programming and the envisalink module. There might be a way to use the envisalink module but I already had tlink so have never even looked into it. NodeLink has been fabulous and as stated it existed before node servers. In fact, there was a predecessor called DSCLink. Touchscreen keypads are very nice if still available. DLS would likely have a bit of a learning curve.

I don’t like the either. I have a FanLinc in one room. I’m going to pull it out and install the Hunter Douglas remote control module that came with it.
-
We’re on the same page. Thanks.
-
If the fan is IR it would need line of sight so yes for that room only. You’d have to loook and see if they have any form of external blaster. For RF it’s multiroom.

OP already has Polisy so bond bridge is $100 and can be used with many fans vs 2 zwave switches for each fan. However, it’s all a matter of preference so to each his own. Fully respect your. Solution. Just realized I was not responding to OP so it may be very costly if have to buy Polisy and Bond Bridge to use Node server but again to each his own.
-
Correct. I took a quick look at that fan. The RF remote looks pretty standard. The SimpleConnect is their HD cloud based service to control via wifi.
-
It’s not in their database but I’ve got one 13 year old fan that is not hunter douglas and trained bond to control it. Also, the 434 mhz is in their frequency range. Buy it from Amazon and if it does happen to work, you can easily return it. Note that the Alexa skill is cloud based but Polisy Node server is fully local api as I recall.

Since you’re already there, see if the HD (that’s what I have) fan remote is Bond compatible. It makes everything local and works great. You can get the fcc if off their remote and look it up on bond website. Even if not there, you can teach commands to the bond.
