I have my ISY configured to send notifications from my Gmail account. when I test sending it to my regular email address (a gmail account) it takes a second or two. When I use the same settings to send a test TEXT message to my phone, using (my 10 digit telephone number)@txt.att.net, it works but it takes 5-10 minutes for me to get the message. I found this article online that suggests it is AT&T's fault: AT&T Forum discussion has anyone found a workaround or does anyone have any suggestions?

PROBLEM SOLUTION HERE: Superuser.com forum this was what the problem was. I fixed it using the above. just posting it to help anyone else that might have the same problem.

no luck trying these things. by the way, I can access my isy using the "isy Launcher" from my other computers. it is just this one that is troubled. any other suggestions?

I have an “Andersen door” that does not work with most biometric and keypad deadbolts. I think I can make it work with an “August Smart Lock”. August makes a keypad for access but there is no fingerprint reader. I was thinking of doing one of the following: 1. Install a commercial grade fingerprint scanner and somehow figure out a way, perhaps with the help of Polisy, to use it to turn on something that somehow unlocks the lock. 2. Same idea but with a fingerprint garage door reader. I haven’t found one of these that seems any good though. any thoughts or ideas?

Does anyone have any updated comments on the best doorbell camera now? I'm looking to use it with Blue Iris.

I was trying to set up something in “wake on lan” tab in networking and it will not take or keep the IP address properly. Is this tab no longer supported? It seems broken.

I apologize for bringing up a topic that created some conflict. I know I benefit from the discussion. I feel like a kid listening to adults discussing a topic that I know very little of. I have some questions: 1) which devices do we consider "older devices"? (Perhaps I'll upgrade some of my devices.) 2) a "clean system is the best.." but, in my opinion, cleaning a system is very difficult. Has the ability to clean up a system changed in the past five years? New devices to help find the trouble? or just better devices? and are they just better because of them being dual band or are there other improvements? (yes, this is kind of the same as my first question)

I just installed a couple of 2477 switchlincs and ISY offer me a setting option for "Retries". I have some questions: which devices get this option.? doesn't insteon automatically try three times? or is it three hops? I appreciate any discussion or comments on this.

Hmmm. The pro has Bluetooth capability but it isn’t implemented yet? When will it be implemented and could it be used to connect to my phone to tell my isy that I’m at home? What else could it be used for?

Solution found for Mini-remote: I upgraded to v.5.0.16C and now my Insteon Mini-remote didn't work. I tried to "restore" it and that didn't work. I tried removing it and then re-adding it to "my lighting" and it wouldn't add back in. It required a "factory reset" and then it would add back in.

The exhaust fan is a hard-wired (built in) fan so I don’t know that doing so would meet code. Is there a way to do this?
-
the problem is in the noisy exhaust fan in my bathroom. Before I replaced the fan, there were no problems. since i've replaced it, I've had this communication problem. The ISY can always get the message through to turn the fan on, but it can rarely get through to turn it off. it also makes the other switch on the same circuit unreliable.
-
Yes and Thank you but: how sure are we that this will resolve my communication problems?
-
facts: I have nothing z-wave on my system. I have a very (electrically) noisy bathroom fan that is switched with a dual band insteon switch that only rarely can "hear" insteon signals. questions: if I swapped the insteon switch for a z-wave switch, would you expect better reliability of communication? I have 994i but am not sure if it supports Z-wave. do I need to do some upgrade to use it?

That’s the third time someone has pointed me to blue iris. I think I need to go ahead and bite the bullet and get it. Thank you. as far as the polyglot server. I’m concerned about it because I have no idea what it is. I looked on YouTube and watched some videos but I need a “for dummies” description of what it is and how to use it.

I have my house's doorbell connected to my isy so that it can send me a text message when the doorbell is rang. I would like that text message to include a photo from my porch-mounted webcam. Yes, I'm trying to create my own RING doorbell system that won't have a recurring cost and should work indefinitely in the future. if this is already explained in the forum, I could not find it and will someone point me to it.

this is how to use mobilinc. I just want to use a web browser to remotely connect to my admin console. how do I do that?
-
Access the admin console remotely
-
when I try to log into the portal and then use the "Admin Console URL" to connect to ISY, I get this error message: This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below. I appreciate any help or suggestions. I am using mobilinc, by the way.

okay, thank you. Much appreciated.

Yes, I am asking for the sun, moon and stars here. I need to motion sensors for my garage. It is big enough that one won't cover the size of it so the lights either don't go on or go off when I am in there. I'd like either motion sensor to turn the light on FAST. I can do this by connecting the switch directly to the motion sensor but then the motion sensor will turn the light off when I don't want it to. I can come up with the programming for both of them to keep the light on easily but I'm trying to figure out how to get the light to go on fast and when the ISY is the one that turns the lights on, that extra second or so of time is what I'm trying to avoid.

I found what it surely a much simpler solution for proximity with some limitations: The mobile app "MobiLinc Pro" (which I use on my iphone) uses the location of the iphone to alert the ISY of proximity to any preset point. You can set as many points and a radius to each point and your ISY is (as far as I can tell) instantly alerted if you enter or leave this circular geofence. Here are the details: https://mobilinc.com/features/geofence/ Although it has limitations, it doesn't seem to have the concern of running the phone's battery down and most importantly: it is much simpler to set up than the proximity script that this thread is suggesting.

I am trying to use a micro switch to tell me when my driveway heater is heating. I do NOT want to use it to turn on or off the driveway heating. I have it wired like it is in "Single Momentary" diagram (attached) but I don't have the "neutral load" wire connected between the module and the load. I'm trying to understand what would be the best settings to tick in the "Options" box: "Momentary: (off) Latching". does this mean latching is off or momentary is off? "Dual Line: (off) Single line". similarly confusing. "Line high always on; line low always off: (Off) Act as 3Way". ditto.

If I swap out my venstar thermostat (that has an insteon module plugged into it) that I can currently control through my ISY with a NEST thermostat, will I be able to control it with my ISY? (I wasn't sure if it would be preferred to hijack this old thread or start a new one.)
