Okay, it happened again today and I set the event viewer to level 3 and ended up pressing "start" for the "PLM Links Table" three times and here is what it showed: I'll try power cycling the PLM now and see if that fixes it. also: Yesterday I upgraded to 3.3.7 (RC4)...whatever RC4 means...
-
Okay, thank you. I'll try that. It could be a week or a few months, but I suspect that it'll happen again.

When this problem happened the other day, I clicked on the "Show PLM links table" and then "start" and nothing happened. no links came up. (and by the way: after I clicked "Restore PLM", a long list of links come up when I do this) ISY firmware:3.3.3 the PLM says v99 when I click "PLM info/status". I just bought it about six months ago, so it is up to date. I appreciate the help.

I have my house set to go on "vacation" mode when none of our Motion Sensors are tripped for 12 hours. Today, for the third or fourth time, despite us being home, my house goes to "vacation" mode and I realize that my ISY has no idea what is going on in the house. My solution (each time) has been to do a "Restore PLM" and this fixes the problem. It seems as though my PLM is "forgetting" everything. When this first happened about six months ago, I replaced my PLM and it has happened two or three times since I replaced it. I tend to want to blame my ISY for this. Any ideas as to what may be causing this or how I can sort it out?

I've got two or three fairly consistent counts in the 350 range. I've gotten many counts less than 20 and others as high as 992 (which when I use this technique, gives me a number in the 350 range). It is difficult to get a good count. I'm still working on it. Thank you for your help.

If you have Microsoft Excel 2003 and above, you can import the XML file directly. Excel will create a table of the XML data in integer format (left table below). To convert to Hex, use the Hex2Dec function as shown in the right hand table below. Note that the "ix" column is still in integer - other values in Hex. PLMscan3.PNG[/attachment] I used this but skipped the Hex2Dec conversion. I'm guessing that this step can be skipped.

so do you then reimport the new link table into the ISY? (If so, would you expect the next time that you click "Restore PLM" that it would re-duplicate the links?)
-
On this question: How about a device that doesn't have a link record? Is there a way to get one in the PLM without "Restore PLM"? will removing it from ISY and then re-adding it be expected to work if I haven't reached my maximum number of link records?

I have solved my problem with my ISY not knowing what buttons I am pressing on my 8 button KPL. I did this by deleting a number of scenes and then doing a "Restore PLM". I've read the other discussion and I have some questions: 1) Is the process of "Restore PLM" as delicate as "Show PLM Links Table"? (i.e. will insteon traffic screw up the restore process?) 2) How does the "Restore PLM" prioritize what it restores to the PLM? (i.e. are the latest added scenes left out when it fills the PLM) 3) Is there a way to add a PLM record to the PLM without using "Restore PLM"? 4) Is there any better way to count and compare links? Looking through hundreds of links for a certain insteon address is cumbersome. 5) Are there plans to make a PLM that holds more data? kind of ridiculous that it only holds 992 (or so?) links. (If no, then can we hereby put in a request?) btw: I do very much appreciate the help. My KPL is working now. Much obliged, sirs

okay, after running the PLM link table again, I came up with this: I understand that 992 may be the maximum number of links. Despite the fact that my KPL is on the list here (1C.8C.74, which is my other 8 button KPL) when I press the KPL buttons (I've tested them all), the ISY doesn't know the status of any of them until I "query" the KPL with the ISY. Any thoughts?

(yes, I'm still working on this. it has been a busy week and thanks, LeeG) I keep running the "Show PLM links table" and usually get 500-700 links. When I look through them all, I find NO links that have the address for the Keypadlinc that is giving me trouble (1D.99.7F). I've tried removing the KPL from ISY and then re-adding it and my PLM still doesnt seem to get the link record in there. I can't help but to think that my ISY is to blame, he's handling the transaction between my KPL and my PLM, isn't he? As far as number 4 (above), I don't think that this is the issue, because I have two other insteon devices on the same circuit and both of them aren't having any problems. BTW: one of them is a 6 button KPL and it works fine and it DOES have a link record in the "Show PLM Links table".

Okay, still having problems. I deleted a number of scenes and my number of links is now down to about 500. I did a "restore PLM" and my ISY still doesnt get status updates from keypadlinc button presses. (just in case that isn't clear, when I press buttons on the keypadlinc, nothing happens to the ISY on/off status for the button until I Query the keypadlinc) I still think it is a bug. After deleting the scenes and doing the "restore PLM", I get this:
-
Okay, thank you very much. I'll give that a try. So is it purely scenes that are taking up links? Are scenes with more members or responders taking up more links than others?
-
How many is full? smarthome says that 1023 is the number of links that the PLM holds? If this is the problem, then how do I fix it? just get rid of some scenes or something?
-
It is a brand new 2413S. I am rerunning the counts now.
-
What do you think is he solution?
-
by the way, I upgraded to 3.3.3 and it didn't fix the problem.

Okay, I got the replacement keypadlinc from Smarthome today and Linked it with ISY. It does the same exact thing. It does NOT report button presses to ISY. The only way that I can let the ISY know the status of the keypadlinc is to go to ask ISY to query it. This must be a bug. I am trying to get ISY to run programs based upon keypadlinc button presses. I need to say that the two 6 button keypadlincs DO report to iSY and work properly. It is these two 8 button ones that don't work properly in this manner. I think this may be a bug with ISY. I am on ISY 3.2.6

I actually did a factory reset and restore which didnt work. then I removed the device, factory reset it, then reconnected it to ISY and then it still didnt work. I'll see what the new unit does when I get it later this week.
-
okay, Sanity check verified that this is my PLM. I did a "Restore PLM" and nothing is changed. The only way that the ISY knows that I pressed a button on the keypadlinc is if I query the keypadlinc with the ISY and see the change. When I talked to Smarthome about trading out the keypadlinc, the guy said that I needed to have the insteon button as part of a scene for the ISY to know that I pressed the button. It is part of a scene as a responder only. I'm not sure if that helps any. I've got a new unit on the way from smarthome. I hope it works. I appreciate any other ideas.

also: I can switch them to toggle mode and get all of them turned off at the keypad, and the ISY won't know what I've changed them to until I query them.
-
I have an 8 key keypadlinc that was working well earlier and I was changing some names of buttons, etc. Now it won't work. Here is what I mean: 1) ISY can query the load button and gets it right. 2) I can change the buttons from toggle to non-toggle. 3) I can control the led backlights. 4) When I press the button (with "Non-Toggle ON" setting), the readout in ISY still says "OFF". I've tried factory resetting and then "restore". I tried removing it completely from ISY, then factory reset, then reassociating it and then starting all over and it still doesnt work. any suggestions?
