  1. okay, I removed all 3 switches from every scene that they were a part of and factory reset all 3 switches. Then I restored all 3 switches and created a new scene and put A and B in the scene. Now A and B work properly, but C still controls A and B. I'm now in a trap. If I factory reset C, it doesn't control A or B, but it is no longer connected to ISY. When I restore it, it resumes controlling A and B, despite no obvious info in ISY that it is to control A or B. I appreciate any help. Scott
  2. here was my initial setup: I had two lights in my living room that each have an Icon switch controlling them, lets call them A and B. There is also a third switch © that controls nothing and it was in the scene (in the ISY) to control A and B. I wanted to remove C from the scene and use it to control something else. I went to each scene and removed it, including removing it properly from the remotelinc. When I got finished, C still controlled A and B. I tried factory resetting all 3 switches, which fixed the remaining connections between them, but when I restored all 3 of them, It brought back the connection / problem (C still controls A and and this: Now, both A and B are working very oddly: the Off switch works, but the ON, doesn't work with a tap, but do work with a press and hold. The ramp rates and on levels don't work and won't reset properly. These Icon switches were working fine before. they are 2876D3 and say v.27 in the ISY. I air gapped all of the switches for a second or two and it didn't seem to help. is this an i2 issue? should I just shoot myself?
  3. I have a light that is will be on and when the motion sensor is triggered, it will go off and then go back on again. I've looked for which programs that turn the light on with motion are triggering this and can't figure it out. When I run these "on" programs (from the "program summary" tab) the lights don't go off first, so something else must be turning them off or some kind of an error is occuring. any troubleshooting ideas? is there any way to look through all of my programs to see if there is a mistake that is using the motion sensor "on" signal and turning the lights off? any other ideas? the WAF is going out the window each time this happens. thanks, someguy

    Dimmable cfl?

the outdoor bulb that I mentioned above is a: Philips Marathon bulb. 15W (plastic enclosed CFL). It says "Ideal for heavily used table lamps, open or enclosed fixture and weather-protected outdoor fixtures".... interesting that there is no model number listed on the box, though box does say 813334 82 cri 2700K -22F to 140F UPC is: 46677 13786 I paid $12.00 for it from www.efi.org (I have no affiliation with them) about two years ago. not sure if this bulb is still available.

    Dimmable cfl?

I use CFL's in my outside lights and I have a couple of comments: 1) Some CFL's aren't supposed to be used in extremely cold or warm temperatures. Cold is an issue only for some people, but the warm temps are an issue when the light bulb is in an enclosed fixture or in a "can" light. I have had good luck with lightbulbs in a fixture that is not enclosed, but I noticed a short life-span of my can lights until I switched to a special outdoor bulb. If you want the brand/model, I can provide that. 2) When you consider the amount of cost-savings that you have with electricity for a regular CFL (use about 25% of the electricity), I is really worth it to spend 4x the amount of money on the bulb to be able to dim the light some? I'd say not... but I suppose the less electricity you use, the better... just consider that you might spend 4x (or more) for a bulb that may not have a long life, when used in extreme temps. Best of luck and be sure to post how it turns out. someguy
  6. other than the basic User Interface (not the admin console), what are my options to access my ISY from my iphone? Would someone be willing to state their opinion as to whether they are worth the cost? (assuming the app isn't free) thanks, someguy
  7. Michel: when I use the URL that you provide, the file DOES open in Excel. What is different about using that URL? thanks, someguy

  9. I am sorry, but I don't know what you mean by asking what URL I am using.
  10. when I try to view my Log, I am given the question: "Do you want to view the Log in Excel?". When I click yes, Excel opens and the formulas are turned off for safety reasons, I guess. When I turn them on, I get this: When I click NO, I am asked to save the file, but every time and every place that I try to save the file, it gives this message: I am the administrator of my computer, by the way. Why this file must be saved before it can be viewed is beyond me. any ideas? thanks, Someguy[/img]
  11. I've tried "restore device" and on some of my devices but not all, I get this error. What is this trying to tell me and is there a reasonably simple solution? thanks, someguy
  12. How would I know if the ISY was rebooting itself. It has been doing some odd things lately: I've found my landscape lighting on during the daytime a couple of times.
  13. Here is the program: If - No Conditions - (To add one, press 'Schedule' or 'Condition') Then Repeat Every 15 minutes Set 'MasterBedroom-Thermostat' Query Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') I go to the program summary tab and right click on the program and turn "Run at startup" ON. Then I right click the program and click "Run (if)". The program continues to query the thermostat every fifteen minutes. Then, a day or two later, I return to the console and the program is no longer set to Run at Startup and the program is no longer running. Any ideas as to what is stopping the program from running and why the "run at startup" won't stay set to ON. (I'd also like to comment that I don't believe that my power has gone out at any time lately.) thanks, Someguy
  14. problem solved. I was able to get it to connect. The reason that it "wouldn't connect" was that it was already connected. It is a beta unit and, surprisingly, they sent the same unit back to me, so when I tried to reassociate it with the ISY, nothing happened because it was already associated with it, unbeknownst to me. thanks Rand, Scott
  15. I factory reset it and it still won't work. Here is something that is odd: sometimes when I try to link the Sensor to the ISY, the box comes up to show me what is happening, this happened before when I got this error. Today, no box pops up. I am using "Link Management" "New Insteon Device", putting in the address for it and selecting the "Device type". I put the Sensor in linking mode and click okay and the box disappears and nothing more happens. any ideas?
  16. I'm not sure what you mean by powerline devices. My motion sensor is a beta unit, but another beta tester WAS able to get his to work with his isy-99i.
  17. I am on 2.7.5 and I have my accesspoint right on top of the PLM. Still gives me the error. thanks, Someguy
  18. Michel: I do not have a HomePlug. any other ideas? thanks, someguy
  19. I am getting this same error. I've tried disbling the climate module and putting an access point on top of the PLM. I still get the error. Here is the curveball: I'm using a beta Motion sensor. Anything else I can try before I tell Smarthome that this is a bad motion sensor?
  20. Here is the program called "Hearth Flashes Gym 1": If From 5:00:00AM To 10:00:00AM (same day) And Status 'Gym-1-Light by TV' is On And Control 'Hearth-7a-MotionSensor' is switched On Then Set 'Gym-1-Light by TV' Off Set 'Gym-1-Light by TV' On Disable Program 'Hearth Flashes Gym 1' Wait 1 hour Enable Program 'Hearth Flashes Gym 1' Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') I'm wanting the motion sensor to flash the light once and then not flash the light again for another hour. If the program diables itself, will it continue to run and then enable itself in an hour?
  21. wow. great stuff. pretty complicated also. thanks for the info. I'm not sure I can think of a use for that in my current system, but it is always good to know what can be done.
  22. sorry to hijack your thread, but I've never used "last run". how is it used? can you give a good example? thanks.
  23. okay, I figred it out. Somehow my "vacation" folder got turned on and it was running a random event of turning lights on and off to simulate occupancy. can we delete this thread? just kidding. Someguy
  24. At 3 am, while we are asleep, my wife wakes and looks at me and says "What are the lights doing on?" I reach over to my bedside insteon switch and turn them off. When I look in my ISY Program Summary, the only thing that ran at 3am was the QueryAll program. Why would the QueryAll program turn on my lights? Is this a bug? (It is stuff like this that could end home automation at my house) Someguy
  25. I tried using: https://xx.yy.zz and it connects to my windows home server which is nice, but I don't want to talk to him. I tried using: https://xx.yy.zz.1 https://xx.yy.zz.443 and neither of them work either. Any more ideas?
