  1. If I have a switch that I "restore" without factory resetting it, what will that accomplish? will it remove any broken links? here is the scenario: I have a controllinc that is giving me some trouble, I'd like to factory reset it and then restore all of the previously linked switches in hopes that this would remove the controllinc association.
  2. I was getting this all the time. It seem to help when the motion sensor was placed very close to one of the access points while programming. I tried this and I still get "request failed". Here is what is interesting: It seems as though the changes that I try to make that end in "request failed" take affect. When I change the off-timer to 7 minutes, it works properly and when I link the sensor to a light, it turns on that light. it seems as though the system thinks it is't getting the job done, but it is. Michel: any ideas here?
  3. I am using 2.6.12 and I linked my 2420 motion sensor. I tried to add it to a scene as a controller and I get "Request Failed". I tried this multiple times, putting it in programming mode with one press and sometimes with two presses of the button. I even did a factory reset, removed it from the isy and then started over. I get the same "Request Failed" when I try to change the off timer.
  4. I tried this and it didn't work. here is where I suspect that most of the discussion about this will be: http://forum.universal-devices.com/view ... 4453#14453
  5. I upgraded from 2.6.8 to 2.6.12 and my insteon skylink motion sensor went from being called what it is to being called "unsupported device: 16.0". It also has a ramp rate and on level as this unsuported device. How shall I fix this?
  6. My understanding is that houselinc 2 is able to modify the off-timer for the skylink 2420 insteon motion sensor. Can the ISY-99i do this? if so, how? if not, when will it be able to do so and what is the best work-around?
  7. I also would like to know what an open auto demand/response unit is. When you say that this version supports i2, I'm guessing that this is a newer version of storing or communicating insteon information. (when I search for i2 in this forum, nothing comes up... must be too short of a word) Will the i2 support allow me to use the EZX10RF better? If not, what will the i2 suppport help me with?
  8. here is what I get when I do that, how do I make sense of this. a couple of questions: I don't have anything that sends out X-10 D4. I don't even have a wireless receiver that is set to D house code. Where could I find out how my outside lights got left on this morning when the ISY is programmed to turn them off? here is what my log said: if it bugs you that it is so long, then please delete some or all of it. 9. Is there a relatively easy way to find what process led to turning on a certain insteon light? I know that there is probably some very complicated way to get a report that shows a bunch of complicated stuff that I won't understand, but is there any more straight-forward way to get some kind of a report? If there isn't, is there some kind of an explanation as to how to do it the complicated way? thanks, Someguy (newbie)
  10. I'm a beginner, so please forgive me for such a simple question, but I understand the plan for two folders, one for vacation and one for not vacation. But how do I toggle the switch to vacation or not? To be more specific, in version 1, what is "Vacation button" and how do you switch it on / off?
  11. I have nothing listed in the "virtual servers" page and nothing listed in the port forwarding page of my router.
  12. I have a D-Link DIR-615 Router: http://support.dlink.com/products/view. ... 5FrevB#faq thanks for any help here, I am still getting that error quite often. I continue to reset the ISY when it happens by unplugging the PLM.
  13. I found what MTU stands for, but I'm not sure where in my router settings it would be. I searched the support for my router and found nothing. Can anyone help here?
  14. I power cycled my router. How do I check port 433? I know it is probably child's play.
  15. since I solved this problem the other day, I've gotten this socket error and the system locks up. It seems to happen mostly when I am making changes in the "main" tab and not when I'm working on programs. I then unplug and replug the PLM and it solves the problem. Does this mean the new PLM is not cooperating with the ISY-99? If so, what is the solution?
  16. Stowaway: Can you give details as to how exactly you use the EZX10RF? do you just use it as a device to conver RF X10 signals to powerline X10 signals? In what way does it have better range? Better RF range? or better powerline range (if there is such a thing)?
  17. here is how I got this to work, for the next guy: use "regular email" and yourphonenumber@txt.att.net thanks
  18. Stowaway: If you don't mind, will you explain how you do this? Are you just talking about using the EZX10RF in place of an "X10 plug-in RF base"? If so, then why use a >$100 device in place of a $25 device? Is there any other benefit other than it will receive all house codes? what is the 2420? I can't find it on a google search.
  19. I'm trying to make motion sensors work with my isy-99 and it looks like I've got a few options. 1) X-10 motion sensors ($20) with an EZX10RF 2) X-10 motion sensors without the EZX10RF 3) Insteon Motion sensors ($35) I really like the way I can sit on my *** and program things through the ISY, so it would be nice to use option 2 (above), but the limitation is that the X-10 signal doesn't always get to the ISY. The EZX10RF gets rid of this problem, but it creates the headache of having to deal with all of that tapping of the buttons. Man, this is a PITA! I can't tell you how many times I've gone through this and it messes up. There has to be a better way to program the EZX10RF. The Insteon Motion sensors seem to be the easiest option, but they cost quite a bit more. Do we know if the ISY will be able to program the Skylink Insteon motion sensors for the "off" time? Any comments from anyone who has been through this?
  20. I talked with Darrell in customer support and we went through resetting the cache, turning off the firewall, dismantling the anti-virus, etc. None of this fixed it. Then we unplugged the PLM (I have a new PLM that came with Houselinc 2) and this fixed it. For future people with this error, I'd suggest starting here. Darrell, pls chime in here if there are any caveats to unplugging the PLM. thanks, someguy
  21. although, they were there last night, this morning my programs don't show up in the administrative console. I get this socket error again, so I suspect that they are there, just not accessible for some reason. Any ideas as to how to fix this one?
  22. I am getting this error. Not sure if it is preventing anything from working properly. I tried closing the administrative console and then clearing the java cache. Any other ideas?
  23. what kind of goodies can we expect in the 2.7?
  24. I tried this and it worked, thanks Michel.
  25. a couple of questions, actually: AT&T doesn't show up as a provider for cellphones (AT&T PCS and AT&T Pocketnet PCY do show up). why isn't one of the most commonly used cellphone companies listed? If I do ever get this notification listed, when will it notify me? any time any errors occur? or only when I tell it to in a program, like if a certain motion sensor gets tripped, then "send notification to all".
