Before I actually try, do I tell Izzy to run a program (by name) or do I simply give a program a unique name and ask Issy to turn the (program) name on?

Thanks Benoit, that helps a lot. I still don't know why dining room fan work but dining room light doesn't. I'll work on that for a while and post back.

8Kw of exterior lighting may be considered somewhat excessive. Reminds me of the 11.8 million-gallon/yr water user in Bel Ar, CA. That's more than 32 thousand gallons every day. One home, not a hotel or apartment building.

Unlike KPLs, setting the Mini Remote to a non-toggle mode affects all buttons, not only one.

A dedicated circuit is ideal for both the PLM and ISY. Can you successfully send on and off commands to each secondary switch in the 4-way configuration? The load will not come on, but the device's LEDs will. Dryers and washing machines should not affect power line signals and may improve communication, but only if it's an electric dryer and it is on. Which specific brands and models? You should certainly be able to turn off the breakers for those machines.

Benoit, 1. I asked Alexa to tell Izzy to turn on the dining room light. Alexa heard, "Alexa, tell Izzy to turn on the dining room light." 2. I said only, "Dining room light." Alexa heard, "dining room" 3. I then said, "Dining room fan." Alexa heard and turned on the dining room fan. Which part is Connected Home, which is the skill and how and when did it change?

Benoit, That's not the case here. I tried Z3phyr's method, that is, ""open Izzy," for the dining room light. When Alexa couldn't find the light (i.e., Turn on which device?), I repeated, "Dining room light." As expected Alexa said, once again, "Turn on which device?" This time, I responded with, "Dining room fan." The fan turned on and Alexa acknowledged that. So, the response was to the skill--without ever repeating "Izzy."

If C1 is not turned on, then nothing will happen. Try this: If From Sunset To Sunrise (next day) Then Send X10 'C1/On (3)' Else Send X10 'C1/Off (11)'

What do you mean that the electrician installed a dedicated outlet? Is it dedicated to the PLM meaning nothing else is plugged into that outlet or is it a dedicated circuit, meaning that nothing else is on that circuit at all. If the former, than what else is on that circuit? The best way to determine the source of power line interference is to turn off all circuit breakerss except the one that powers the PLM and ISY. Then test every Insteon device on that circuit. If you have difficulty controlling one or more devices, then the culprit is a device on that specific circuit. If everything goes OK, then turn on one more breaker and test communication to (and from) each powered Insteon device including the ones you already tested. Continue turning on one breaker at a time and testing. Troubleshooting is painstaking. There is no shortcut. Well, actually there is. After the initial test with the PLM and ISY, turn on half the breakers. Problem? Turn off half of the on breakers. Continue in the same manner until you find the problem circuit(s). Then you need to find and filter the specific device(s) causing the problem. Use a similar method. Unplug or disconnect every device on that one circuit. They must be disconnected or unplugged, Just turning something off is inadequate. Then connect each device one at a time until the culprit surfaces.

If the Mini Remote is in 8-button toggle mode, then each press of a button sends out the opposite signal of the previous press. However, the button can get out of sync with the state of the bulb if a different controller is used. So, if you press a button to turn the bulb on, then the next press of the button will send an off signal even if an other controller has already sent an off signal.

The minimum heating setpoint on the 2441TH and 2441ZTH is 35ºF.

The ISY 99i has been discontinued for quire some time and cannot be updated to accommodate either new Insteon devices nor current modules. There is an upgrade program available that allows for a discounted price for owners of the older ISY. IMO, it was well worth it, especially if you need to add a new device or replace an older, failed device. Oops. replied to wrong topic.

The Snipping Tool has been continued through Win 8 and Win 10.

Does the relay close if you send a direct command to the relay.

I've has success with four bedroom devices; bedroom ceiling, bedroom fan, bedroom fireplace and bedroom wall (Alexa does not like "sconces."). I have had only limited success with "dining room." (see posts #39 and #42).

Alaska ranks 4th in median population income. There's nothing wrong with that

I've always used the Seco-Larm magnetic switches for garage doors. Besides being durable, you can choose between NO and NC. They also function well with as much as a 2-3/4" gap.

In this case, no news is sad news.

Lost access to all programs and customization from admin console?
stusviews replied to brianp6621's topic in ISY994
That's great news. BTW, I occasionally get the same "Upgrade failed" message, so I attempt the download a second time-always with success. -

Have you updated Java? Have you tried clearing the Java cache and downloading the Admin Console again? Better yet is to upgrade to a more recent firmware and UI. -
I address my comment specifically to a remote controlled door lock. You premise is incorrect. Most people install such locks for convenience, not protection. And those who don't address the door frame, door jamb, and door do not differ between those who install a remote controlled and and those who don't. I actually suspect that those who choose such a lock are more likely to pay attention to the door, most especially if they install the lock themselves. But, that doesn't affect the primary purpose among those who install a remote controlled lock--creature comfort. That includes basing HA activity on the state of the lock or even knowing when your teen came home. I use an ISY controllable lock because I frequently forget to lock the side door, but I always press the Front Off button. Now the Front Off button locks the lock And control of such locks is rapidly becoming more secure. I'm referring to the security of the lock, not the structure of the building or door structure.

Kentunada, To copy a program, right click on the program name and select, "Copy to Clipboard."

Do you have other programs that run at Sunrise/Sunset. If so, then you may want to offset the time a minute or two.

Schlage provided a replacement lock based on the serial number I provided. No receipt nor other paper work was required. What failed was the convenience of one touch locking. The lock itself remained secure. We just needed to enter the 4-digit code to lock the door.
