Alexa heard, "Is she the live in room 50%." Connected Home makes no such error, same device, same name. After many tries, I can set the on-level of a SwitchLinc, but not the load button of a KPL when using the Skill. No problem using Connected Home.

The Insteon LED bulb is functioning as it should. Not to worry

Changed spoken Kitchen from scene to load device (scene spoken blank), refreshed. No difficulty asking Izzy to change level of device (SwitchLinc) Changed spoken Living Room from scene to load device (scene spoken blank), refreshed. Izzy can't change level of device (KPL load button). "I'm unable to change a setpoint for the regular device living room. Can I help you with anything else?"

Got something going. "Alexa, ask (or tell) Izzy to SWITCH on (off) anything" does not work, see post #305. "Alexa, ask (or tell) Izzy to turn on (off) THE anything" did not work. (Device not found.) Omitting THE seems to work, at least for me--so far.

On to locks. That works, mostly. The locks (all) lock and unlock on command, but the count is incorrect. In particular the number that Alexa reports as successful is correct, but then reports that 5 (nonexistent) actions were unsuccessful. I've not yet tried individual locks.

Back to nada. Also, each time I mention "switch" Alexa replies, "Welcome to your Home. You can use the ISY skill to control your devices, locks, thermostats, or programs. How can I help you?" I don't even have a chance to finish the statement.

All names are the spoken word(s). Kitchen Light scene worked (note past tense)!!! I renamed the scene Kitchen Lights. I renamed the load device Kitchen Light. Refreshed. Neither works. Alexa can't find the kitchen. Renamed the scene back to Kitchen Light, removed name from load device. Refreshed. Neither works.

Changed Living Room Ceiling spoken scene to Living Room. That works, but Izzy can't change load device level, as expected. Changed spoken device to Living Light. Izzy can't find device "Living." Weird, Living Room works--both words, Living Light does not work. Still testing, I need to ability to change light levels.

Izzy is already implemented http://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/17082-interface-with-amazon-echo/page-14

Not just certain words. I renamed the Living Room light to "light" or "main." I also changed the corresponding spoken name and refreshed devices each time. Nothing works-at all. The Echo does recognize "Izzy."

See my post #274. Using the Hub: Me, "Alexa, turn on the living room light." The living room light turns on. Using the ISY: Me, "Alexa, tell izzy to turn on the living room light." Alexa, "I could not find device living room. Turn on which device." Me, "Living room light." Alexa, "Turn on which device? Turn on which device?"

By using combinations of large and small buttons, I've made 3, 4, 6, and 7 device KPLs. BTW, I actually mean 6-device, not 5-device in my previous post

Took apart a Switchlinc v1.0. How does this even work?

Most ceiling fan/light combinations use blue for the light and red for the fan. -
I re-discoved devices I added to the Hub. The identical spoken words that did not work with IZZY work fine with the Hub.
-
No luck with any device name, not kitchen, not main, not light, nothing. All I get is "cannot find whatever-I-spoke." With more that 100 device (Alexa counts 306), every time I try a new name, either renaming the device or adding a spoken word, and ask Alexa the refresh, I have to tell Alexa I want to keep waiting, more than 6-8 times. I started out using the same names that I had success with using the Hub 2.

Wow, those must be old. As I mentioned, load and traveler can be any color (other than the restricted neutral or ground colors), but the slave is interesting, live-live-switch. No wonder a manual was needed -
It does not understand sconces, so I had to use "wall lights." Initials are definitely a no-no. LR lights doesn't work, living room lights does. And Alexa can be temperamental. I have a device named "lock indicator." "Lock indicator" doesn't always work even though the device is named "lock indicator", so I say, "indicator," which, mostly works. Now, here's the flighty part. Last night I asked it to turn turn off the "indicator." Alexa's reply was, "I can't find a device called 'lock indicator'," but the device did turn off. Thus two anomalies, recognition of the full name in the response and the command worked, but the Echo didn't know it. Even more. "Bedroom light" does not work, but "bedroom ceiling" does. Kitchen light works, computer room light works, dining room light works. I'm not using an emulator. I have added a few device concurrently to the ISY and Hub 2.

My 3-way X10 switches always used "standard" colors. The master used black for line, white for neutral and red for load. The traveler (there is no "standard" for travelers) was yellow. The slave and black, white and yellow. BTW, I placed quotes around standard because the code does not dictate wire colors except that white or gray be the only colors for neutral and that ground be green (or bare). Line, load and travelers can be any other color. A marker, such as phasing tape, can be used to identify the use of the wire if the color is other than those stated. -
Using the six button face plate with a KPL in 8-button mode results in a five device Keypad (link A & B and G & H)

Only one of the Z-Wave or ZigBee modules can be installed in an ISY. If you need/want both, then you'll need a second ISY.

Xathros, If other programs are set to run at or near sunset a small delay such as a few seconds avoids collisions and, possibly, the dreaded ALL ON.

Z-Wave is entirely RF which makes a companion switch relatively easy to accomplish. The power line X10 protocol requires one wire between the master and slave. That's not difficult in an existing 3-way configuration because the wires are already in place. The X10 slave switch can't be installed in a different location other than an existing 3-way configuration. Insteon could probably make an RF only slave switch. OTOH, what if one wanted/needed a multiple button device in the slave position (I have a few.). Now, users would be clamoring for a wireless (RF only) Keypad. Either device would require giving up the dual mesh ability that make Insteon more reliable. BTW, I'm in no way opposed to a companion switch. I have no problem when it comes to saving $$ Edit: I looked over some Z-Wave slave switch manuals. Seems that they can only be installed as a replacement for an existing multi-way configuration, same as the X10 protocol, even the same yellow wire as X10 used.
