Restore PLM question
I am installing a new USB PLM on my POLISY. In the instructions Mishel gave me it shows this. To replace a PLM: Unplug ISY from the power outlet Unplug the PLM from ISY and power outlet Connect ISY’s port A to the new PLM Plug the new PLM into a power outlet Plug ISY into a power outlet Go to Admin Console and wait for system initialization to complete If you have PRO Series, click on the Battery icon at the top. This will prevent ISY from trying to update programming on your RF devices which are probably in sleep mode Click on the Restore Modem (PLM) menu option In case ISY cannot communicate (or decides not to if an RF device/PRO Series) during the process, you will have a series of nodes with green 1011 icons in the device tree. For each one of those nodes: If an RF device, ensure that the device is in Programming mode Right mouse click | Write pending updates ... On this line "In case ISY cannot communicate (or decides not to if an RF device/PRO Series) during the process, you will have a series of nodes with green 1011 icons in the device tree. For each one of those nodes:" is that meant to be done after the system busy progress bar is finished at 100%? I am at 20% and have a bunch of 10011 icons but some are slowly going away. Or do I right click and write to devices during the system busy process? Thanks

Symptoms of a failing PLM?
I just turned on my computer room light with UDmobile. turned on instantly. Then turned it off and wouldnt turn off. Tried twice. Then opened the event viewer and set to level 3 and turned the computer room light off with udmobile and it wouldnt turn off but the event viewer recognized the command then a popup came up saying couldnt connect to computer room light. Computer room light has an exclamation mark, I clicked on it in admin console and clicked off and it turned off right away and the exclamation mark went away. Now turned it back on and 15 seconds later the light comes on.

Delay is usually seconds but I usually dont wait and keep hitting the on or off button but as I said with the shed, sometimes the command is missed all together. A few time I have noticed the bedroom light turning on by itself for no reason. I think its when i tried doing a restore or maybe when I rebooted the ISY, not sure.

Symptoms of a failing PLM?
Thanks guys. Yes I would say things are currently working normally, 60% to 70% of the time. Sometimes a device turns on instantly using udmobile and other times I have to turn that device on 3 or 4 times before it will turn on. Same with programs running. For example the light on my shed shuts off at sunrise and out of the past week it failed to turn off two separate days after sunrise.

Thats my dilemma, things work now but take time or multiple retries. I was able to order a PLM USB that was the last one in stock and should get here in about 5 days. Maybe I am best to wait as I rely on so many things on the ISY.

Are you thinking that factory resetting my plm then restoring it wont help?

Symptoms of a failing PLM?
Wow thats a hell of a reply. Thanks for the detailed explanation. Thank you and this was Michel's reply "There's no queue. Every time you click on Restore, the same set of files are reset to their original state and then IoX starts from scratch. What you are getting is a failure for "resetting the PLM". This means that the PLM is not honoring the request to have it reset. If communications are OK (i.e. Tools/Diagnostics/PLM Status/Info shows Connected), in 99.99% of the cases, the issue is the PLM itself."

Symptoms of a failing PLM?
Michel says the PLM needs to be replaced. I have a serial plm model EZICOmm #5010k. Will this work? Also as you suggested, how do I factory reset my PLM and try that first? Thanks

Symptoms of a failing PLM?
Just tried to restore the PLM and got an error after 1% "Failed writing PLM master link (Kitchen Light) [-200000/-3]. Driver not found [[Unknown ] 0240 ] " Tried it twice and same issue. I disabled the Kitchen light then it made it to 3% and came up with the same error but this time for the "Computer room light"

No he didnt suggest to restore the PLM just gave me instructions on how to do it when I get a replacement. Is the process different if you are restoring an existing PLM? I didnt try the breakers yet but I think I will. I think Michel was leaning more to line noise as he advised about moving the plm. At the end he suggested speaking to Insteon but I thought I would give all of you a chance as you guys have helped me so much in the past years! What does it mean that admin console and UDmobile are always accurate about the status of the devices when they are manually turned on but sometimes fail when turning them on with AC or UDmobile? Does that mean the the PLM receives fine but has problems sending? The reason I ask is if it was line noise, wouldnt that also effect how the PLM receives? Thanks
