In our laundry room we have a door to the outside and I have a motion sensor that is programmed to turn the ceiling light ON upon motion. However whenever someone is the laundry room for a longer time than just passing through, the light, after the set period of 2 1/2 minutes, goes OFF and then goes ON straight away. This is a bit annoying. What I want is that when someone has already turned ON the Laundry Ceiling light, then the motion sensor does not turn On the light. I designed 2 programs : Program 1 IF : -empty- THEN : set laundry ceiling ON wait 2 minutes and 30 seconds set laundry ceiling OFF ELSE : -empty- Program 2 IF : ceiling light Status is OFF and Motion Sensor is ON THEN : Run program 1 But this does not seem to do the job. Would an alternative something like the following do the job ? Program 3 IF : Motion sensor is ON THEN : Laundry Ceiling Light ON Wait 2 minutes 30 seconds Laundry Ceiling Light OFF Program 4 IF : Laundry Ceiling light is switched ON THEN :Disable Program 3 Program 5 IF : Laundry Ceiling Light is switched OFF or Status Laundry Ceiling Light is OFF THEN : Enable Program 3 I look forward to any ideas and insight, Thanks

I tried again, in Portal-Connectitivity-Alexa I changed the curtains to the open-close syntax and saved. I opened again and it still showed the open-close syntax. This time I logged out from Portal and logged in again, and the curtains had reverted back to contact sensor. As such it is indeed not because of discover in Alexa but something in Portal. I hope this is helpful

Michel, I tried this even though the curtains open/close side ways. But the issue is that whatever option I choose and save (light, switch, outlet, etc) after discover in Alexa, the category defaults back to contact sensor. The routine works perfectly, so no longer any issue for me.

I resolved both Alexa and GH issues. Google Home : Why two of my GH devices left "Home" in my GH account and became "Local", I have no idea. But when I did a factory reset and added both back to "Home", the issue was resolved. Alexa : I also still don't know why my automatic curtains (I have 2 of these) stopped working with Alexa voice command. Trying to resolve the issue I had deleted both curtains (in fact Mimo Lites) from Alexa Connectivity in ISY Portal and added them again. But the voice command "Open Curtains 1" still did not work. Then it just occurred to me to try "Turn OFF curtains 1" and when that did work, I realized that the Alexa Routine that I had created originally ( "Open Curtains 1" =. "Turn Curtains 1 OFF" ) stopped working when I deleted the curtains from Alexa Connectivity in ISY Portal. I re-did the Alexa Routines and voila, the voice commands work again. Both the GH and Alexa issues were in fact simple to resolve, but what probably confused me is that the unrelated Alexa and GH issues happened (at least in my mind) at the same time and therefore put me on the wrong path.

Progress..... I found out that 2 of my GH devices had gone to 'local device' in my GH account. After factory reset and new set up, GH now works. For Alexa, I found out that issue is only with my automatic curtains. All other devices can now again be controlled with voice control. I saw that, however I set up the automatic curtains in Portal (used to be either "Switch" or "Light") these now revert automatically to "Contact Sensor" and now Alexa either responds nothing on my voice command, or says something like it can not communicate with "master curtains". p.s. the curtains are controlled through Mimo Lite devices

Thanks Michel, My Portal account is hotmail and I use the same for Alexa. My Google Home is a gmail account. This has been working for a long time and I am not aware of having made any change.
-
It has been constant for a couple of days. I have opened a ticket with UDI.
-
Yes same on Alexa and Google Home, and I find it very weird as there is no issue controlling the devices in the alexa and GH Apps on my phone
-
Since a few days I have a weird situation on both my Alexa and Google Home. I CAN control my ISY devices from the Alexa APP and from the Google Home APP on my phone. However, when I issue a voice command I get a message like "It looks like Universal Devices is not available right now", or something similar....

Thanks Jimbo. I have gone over the topic (your link above) and it refreshed my memory. I have simple programs that alert me when one of my nodeservers are off line. This rarely happens and in fact almost exclusively when I restart the nodeserver in the Polisy Dashboard after an update. The only sensitive nodeserver, for me, is Google Holidays as this controls my wake-up programs. Thankfully this nodeserver is solid. Thanks again for your support.

Jumbo, now you got me puzzled.......... What exactly is a "heartbeat" ?
-
I understand now.... It is specific to Ecobee, which I don't have. I am a Nest guy :-) , I thought that it was something to monitor any nodeserver., which could have been useful. Thanks
-
That is new thing for me....... Can you explain what this "heartbeat monitor" is ?

So far, so good. Forecast is some thunderstorms but apparently nothing serious........ I guess that we will stay home today ! Now that I think of it, we have been home for 5 weeks now?

You are right Mobilinc is something entirely different. It is an App that allows you to control the devices that you have in your ISY setup. As I understand it, there two ways to use Alexa with your ISY, one is with Moblinc Connect, and the other way is ISY Portal. Personally I have chosen ISY Portal that also gives me remote access to my ISY when I am away from home and I have not tried Mobilinc Connect for several years now. My understanding is that the end result is the same, but in one case you use the Alexa Skill in your link and in the other case, you use Mobilinc Connect to control your ISY devices. I do use Mobilinc Pro (with ISY Portal).

Are these the equivalent of the Homeseer 200 series or the 100 series? If the latter, then the price is not very different.
-
After experiencing with different brands, I now only recommend GE/Jasco and Homeseer. Inovelli is innovative but customer service is not excellent and their devices can be complicated to set up. Sometimes buying cheap is more expensive.

Zwave Failing to Add - Inovelli Switch
asbril replied to asperber's topic in Z-Wave - Series 300/500
Join the club....... At the beginning I was enthusiastic about Inovelli's new products and Eric gave decent customer support, but over time I have become disenchanted with their switches. I wonder why they don't just use the same include/exclude system as other brands. I have 2 or 3 new Inovelli switches that I was unable to include in my ISY. -
In my experience it does not, at least not with my Zooz devices.
-
I am disappointed in the Zooz devices. Sometimes it is better to buy more expensive. I have learned through experience and now mostly buy Jasco/GE and Homeseer devices.
-
I understand, but when installing a new wall switch it connects to my ISY in most cases and then no additional tricks are needed. If not, with one of my 3 Google Wifi 'pucks' all I need to do is to connect my ISY with an ethernet cable to one of the GW 'pucks" and "voila" I have the ISY and the wall switch close to each other. However, your system is excellent for most, especially those who have a different router.
-
Thanks lilyoyo1 this is very impressive and useful for those beginning with Zwave. I fully concur with your recommendations to buy only Zwave devices from the major companies. I have no experience with Fibaro but, having used several of the cheaper brands like Zooz, Inovelli, etc, I now try to buy only GE/Jasco and Homeseer. One more comment on adding devices. while you are right that it is always better to add new devices close to the ISY, this is not always easy, especially with wall switches. And as they say, if Mohamed can not come to mountain, then the mountain goes to Mohamed.... In several instances I have temporarily moved my ISY close to a new switch. As I have a Google Wifi router with additional 'pucks', it is quite easy to do this. Again lilyoyo1 Great Job
