The good news......... It works perfectly. Thanks Dr. Larry. The bad news......... Even with using a variable in this setup, I still don't get it. My current thinking is that variables are actually very simple and I may be trying to understand something more complicated. Maybe I am just too smart for this world.

I did the setup but I have to wait till I have the home for myself as my wife has no patience for me trying out my gadgets. I only have 2 Alexa speakers and the rest is Google Home.

Another wish of mine...... I remotely manage my Son's ISY, creating and managing his programs. Recently I installed Polisy in his home but unfortunately I can not remotely access it. Hopefully when ISY moves to Polisy we will have full remote access.

How do you do that ?

The ISY voice commands, using Google Home or Alexa, are pretty amazing. Some are working on getting GH or Alexa actually to "speak" on ISY events and that would be even more amazing.

Actually for me, I am more interested in a new user interface, faster and more friendly than the current administrative console.

Maybe you don't have the need, but make sure that you see all the nodeservers that are in Polyglot. I personally actively use the Harmony Hub, AV Remote, Push and Google Holidays Nodeservers in my wake-up and other programs . Lights will go On or Off, curtains will open or close, TV will go On or Off..... depending on my, and my Wife's, work schedules, when the cleaning lady comes and when we are on a trip. I also get various Push messages coming from sensor alerts. I am in awe of what Polyglot (RPi or Polisy) has added to my comfort and pleasure.

Did you link Google Home to your ISY ?

I am an all Zwave person and stopped using Insteon more than 5 years ago. I have not had to replace any of my 4 Zwave fan switches in these more than five years.

I don't know whether future developments would provide other uses of the wifi capability other than just connecting the Polisy to your network. I could imagine (but don't know whether this is in the picture) that Polisy connects to wifi devices. Personally I always try (within my budget) to take the most options available.

Interesting but we have different experience. Living in South Florida, we often change speed of our fans. While normally they are on mid speed, sometimes when the A/C may take some time to adjust to lower temperature, we need the higher speed, and at other times (as right now while typing this message) the lower speed in my office is just fine.

I have four ceiling fans, each with a built-in light. They each have a Zwave GE/Jasco switch with a separate switch for the light. Though these are most likely not Zwave Plus switches, I do not really have a status update issue. The new GE fan switches are Zwave Plus, thus with automatic status update. Inovelli has a Zwave Plus Fan + Light switch, but it requires to put a Fanlinc style module inside the fan. Zooz has the Zen30 (also Zwave Plus) which controls both the fan and the light. However, it only controls the fan with ON and OFF (no speed control).

Right now I have no delayed response issues, but I remember that 2 or 3 years ago I did a factory reset and it made a big difference in response timing.

If you have the ISY994i ZW, then it DOES control Zwave.

I have 2 of these switches and I had the same experience with both. When I have some time, I will try again with the second switch. I remember when trying the inclusion without Neutral, I would see a brief recognition in the ISY inclusion window, and then happening nothing.
