  1. Auger66, I just made the plunge last week after putting it off for a couple of years. Just did not feel the 99i abilities were robust enough. Finding a couple of short comings, but for the most part being able to accomplish my needs. Always more than one way to skin a cat, so to speak. I had been using a Time Commander (x10 only) which had a stronger programming capability but the 99i is catching up. I'm pleased with the purchase, just working through the learning curve.
  2. Appreciate the question and answer, was looking for the same info also. When the test gives the result [ignore], what is it saying? I am seeing an [ignore] and a [failed], can I assume that it is saying that the unit that failed ignored the signal from the [ignore]?
  3. I'm new to this so I may be missing something. I looking for the ability go test a date range without year being involved. An example would be where I want Christmas lights to act differently say from Dec 21 to Jan 2, than during other times. Another situation is where I want to change behavior of devices during summer months. I have looked at date conditions, but year always seems to be part of it.
  4. Thanks to you both. The link gave me my answers. Have done it with other x10 controllers, but for some reason got lost in the sauce here. Thanks again.
  5. How do I go about doing a set level, or a preset level with the 99i?

    Variables?

Michel, As you may remember that has been my biggest hang up on going with the 99i. Also would like to see variable support. However, after putting the purchase off for a couple of years, I purchased and in the process of working around the issue for now with programs as flags. Appreciate your great support!!!
  7. Michel, Many thanks, I started over from scratch. Much improved. I do find that when I log into the 99i after 24 hours or so, I keep seeing communication issues with the same devices. Going to follow up with SH, they are all SWL35's. Thanks for your help!
  8. Michel, Some additional info, I am having scenes downloading to a KL which are not in the 99i. I can reset the KL, confirm that keys A-D do nothing. Then do a "restore device" on the KL and have scenes appear that are not in the 99i. Am I missing something?
  9. Michel, Interesting, I have about 17 of them. They were replaced by SH in 9/2008 due to the faulty paddles on the older ones. What problems have you seen them exhibit? I had noticed previous to the 99i install, that I had two links to KL's that would randomly not want to work. They would not want to turn on, but if I went to the SWL 35 and turned it on locally, I could go back to the KL and have complete control again. I only have one day under my belt with the 99i...... but, I am finding that it randomly is having issues communicating. Up to this point I have only been working with linking a couple of KL's and the SWL 35's. Was afraid go go much further with the problems I have been having. I do have a couple of other KL's which only link to appliance modules or x10 devices, will give them a go later today.
  10. Having strange results in cross linking. I have two Keylinc 6 key v.6, sometime I can get a link to write and function properly, other times it may work one way but not the other. KL key A cross linked to a Switchlinc V.35. The 99i will display the status on/off of the KL A button properly, but no response from the Switchlinc. Both devices are showing in the scene as controllers. I have another Keylinc where key D will respond properly to the Switchlinc in turning on and off, but it will not control the Switchlinc. Again, the 99i shows all is linked properly. I have tried "restore device" for each device, which helped getting this far, and also helped getting another link to work properly. But, has done nothing to resolve these units. Another comment, I am finding that there are times when doing all the "restore device's" a couple of Switchlinc v.35 will hang up and need to be reset before the 99i can communicate again. Any ideas??

    99i reset question

Thanks Much, I was trying via the hardware reset. Will bookmark that page!
  12. I am new to 99i. Ran into some issues in reading existing links. Decided to do a factory reset on all insteon devices and start over. My problem is how do I start with a clean 99i. I have tried a reset of the 99i, tried deleting the devices in the 99i, nothing will delete. How can I get it to start from scratch?

    Triggers for 99i

Michel, Thanks, going to order via Smarthome. Put this off long enough thinking I could not accomplish what I wanted. But, it seems that will not be true. Thanks again for your help.

    Triggers for 99i

Michel, Thanks for the reply. Can I not turn on an x10 device in one program, and then use it for a true false , (on off) test in another? Another question, is there a way to return an insteon dimmer to a previous state? Example; a program at the start, changes a dimmed unit to full on, but at the end of the same program return it to the level it was before going full on.

    Triggers for 99i

Trying to determine how I can adapt my programming from another device to the 99i. Want to convince myself to buy a 99i. Is it possible to use non existant x10 addresses as triggers for a 99i program. Looking for a way to work around the lack of "flags" or "counters" being available. In other words in a program turn on or off an x10 address, and use it as a trigger for or within another program structure. Paul
  16. Is it possible with the 99i to set "flags" or counters in one program that can be tested for in another program? Paul
