dpeterson4ca Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 What is the best way to take an ISY-99 and PLM from loaded with pgms and links from a previous installation and clear it out for a completely new install? Factory resets obviously will do the trick, but I would rather not reload all the ISY pgm updates if there is another way. thanks...
oberkc Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 I suspect a factory reset will keep whatever version of software currently residing on the ISY.

If you want to keep the programs you can export them before the factory reset and import them later (same with network resources and I think variables)
Michel Kohanim Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Hello dpeterson4ca, My humble recommendation is to purchase an upgrade to 994 since - and due to code space limitations - we are not going to be able to provide more firmware updates for 99: viewtopic.php?f=44&t=10771 With kind regards, Michel
dpeterson4ca Posted February 25, 2013 Author Posted February 25, 2013 ...well, guess that's the curse of progress... the previously retired 26 will now have a new additon to the garage "antique e-display"... and both of my houses will now have 994's... will the 994"s be upgradeable to Z-Wave in the future or will this also require a new box...? Thanks.
oberkc Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 I understand that all -994 will have a slot where one can add the Z-wave module, when available.

Depending on the age of the 994, you may need an enclosure as well. Newer 994s have a knockout large enough for an RJ-45 Jack right next to Port A on the back. If your 994 does not have that knockout, you will need to replace the enclosure. The zwave dongle actually lives at the other end of a 10' cable that plugs into an RJ-45 at that knockout. (At least in the Alpha form.) -Xathros
dpeterson4ca Posted February 25, 2013 Author Posted February 25, 2013 hmmm... guess the question I would pose is, "is it a Z-Wave dongle we have in the future of the 994-Z-Wave product or an integrated design?"... likely, the dongle will satisfy all near-term functionality, but can UDI give some insight into how long this "dongle" configuration might live...? Maybe just looking too far ahead considering this is still an alpha implementation...
Michel Kohanim Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Hello dpeterson4ca, For now, we do not yet have any plans for integrated Z-Wave radio. With kind regards, Michel
