pcarfan Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 I wii be using ISY 994i, elk m1k gold and insteon. I wll have two thermostats in the house. I will like to control the thermostat over the web. Should I get the Insteon thermostat like this? http://www.smarthome.com/2441TH/INSTEON ... tat/p.aspx Or is there any other models that will integrate better with elk? Also, most likely I will get the elk weather module, if that somehow will influence the choice
Michel Kohanim Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 Hi pcarfan, I am not sure what's ELK Weather Module. As far as thermostats, INSTEON thermostats are great however I think Venstars have been around much longer, have been tested a little more and thus a little more robust. With kind regards, Michel

With kind regards, Michel Michel, Thank you for the reply. Can both the thermostats be controlled remotely with an iphone ? I just learned a wireless Insteon thermostat can control a wired Insteon thermostat. So, I could have a wireless Insteon thermostat in the basement and if it gets cold there set the desired temp for that location and the wired thermostat will operate the HVAC to get the basement temp to the desired temp. I like this idea. Can the Venstar with a temp sensor of some sort do the same, given I will use the ISY994i and Elk. Thanks!
Michel Kohanim Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 Hi pcarfan, Yes, they can both be controlled via mobile devices. With kind regards, Michel
pcarfan Posted December 1, 2013 Author Posted December 1, 2013 Michel I bought the Venstar T5800-WIFI thermostat http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009AV ... 6653668-20 I also got the "Skyport Wi-Fi Key" for it so i could control it remotely. However, I am also getting the Elk Mk1, ISY994i and Insteon devices. I will be using mobilinc to remotely monitor and control these. Is there a way to have the Venstar work within Houselinc? I hope this question makes sense. I will be learning as I put these all together. So, I may have gaps in my understanding. Thanks! P.S: I've already bought the ISY994i. If I want to upgraded to the Pro version, could I still do that? Which is better (is there a link to the extras I get with the pro version).
LeeG Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 "If I want to upgraded to the Pro version, could I still do that? Which is better (is there a link to the extras I get with the pro version)." From the UDI Web site .... Standard ISY994i is field upgradeable to ISY994i PRO to support additional devices/scenes Go to Help | Purchase Modules for ordering PRO version The UDI Web site shows the differences between the 994i and 994i PRO.
Brian H Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 There is a chart of the features. On this UDI web page. https://www.universal-devices.com/resid ... 4i-series/
pcarfan Posted December 1, 2013 Author Posted December 1, 2013 Thank you both. Any ideas on how whether that thermostat could be integrated into elk or ISY
Michel Kohanim Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Hi pcarfan, Unfortunately not integrated into ISY. I am not sure about ELK. With kind regards, Michel
