TEXT Notifications not working!

Recommended Posts

Posted

I set up one of my programs to send both an EMAIL and a TEXT notification.

If I have "Use Default" checked, the EMAIL notification is delivered. However, the TEXT notification is not sent.

The TEXT is setup to go to myphonenumber@vtext.com.

If "Use Default" is unchecked and I provide valid SMTP settings, neither the EMAIL nor the TEXT notification goes. I have tried two different SMTP email account settings and verified the settings for both as valid.

did you use the proper format in the "from" field?

displayname:youremailaddress@yourserver.com

As far as your text not getting through when the email did on default, it could be that the text was blocked as spam coming from UD's server.

Yes, from field was properly formatted.

I had also suspected that maybe the text was being blocked. However, can not figure out how that is being done by Verizon or in my iPhone.

What would the UD server ID look like?

A lot of email servers have UD's server black listed. Don't know why.

I would guess that it's because many people are using it to send hundreds or perhaps thousands of email notifications daily, making it look as a spam server.

Still don't know why my own servers didn't work. Was trying both SMTP.ATT.YAHOO.COM and SMTP.GMAIL.COM. Both of these work in my email programs just fine, with port 465. I'll just continue to use the UD Default since it is now working, unless some has a clue as to fixing the others.

Hi George,

465 is an SSL port which ISY does not support since it's outdated and obsolete. For gmail, please use the following:

1. Server: smtp.gmail.com

2. Port: 587

3. TLS: checked

+ your account specific information such as username/password

With kind regards,

Michel
