I have a isy994i that just started to act up and give me some issues. The system has been in operation for over a year before this issue started up. I have a Iphone,(with MobileLinc Pro App) and a Dell Laptop. When I'm home I can control the entire system, operation, programming, intensity, duration, etc, etc. I can use ether the phone, or laptop no problems for the entire year. The problem is when Im away, and it just started. Is I can not connect to the ISY remotely. When on the computer have manually typed in the "isy url" when in the brouser to try and locate it. I tried the universal-devices html interface. And I get the following:

***Socket open failed:java.net.socket timeout exception.***** and then ****XML Parse error******

My firmware, software, apps are up to date. I have unplugged, rebooted the isy, router, cable modem. Several times

I know my lan reservations, and MAC's for all the equipment connected to the network.

I have tried with and without the firewall software active, thinking that was the problem. No luck.

In the administrative dashboard, FILE tab. Internet access is enabled. What am I missing???

Please help. Thanks

Thank you for the reply.

My router and "isy994i are configured currently in a "static IP configuration".

Before that both were configured in the "DHCP automatic configuration".

And I would randomly have times that my iPhone and laptop couldn't connect remotely. But at least it would connect and download the scene profiles using the "DHCP" configuration, for a while.

Then it was like it had forgotten the address. In order to sync the unit, I would need to connect via wifi locally, And then for a while when i was remote, I could access the isy data in the "update only", or " download all" setting of the isy994I administrative mode page on my laptop, or the "Mobile link Pro App" on my phone.

I was thinking due to power outages, or cable provider issues, it was causing the modem, or router to reset, and while it was in the "DHCP" configuration, a random ip address was benign generated, thus making me have to reconnect while i was "local via wifi". And my laptop, phone would then work for a while.

Thats the reason I switch my router and ISY to "static" configuration in the first place.

Which way would you recommend to configure the router, and the isy994i. ( static or dhcp).

Router is a Netgear R6300, have there been any issues with them that your aware of?

Last question, as a new-bee, how do you contact the tech personal? Thats why I'm here at the forum.

The static or DHCP IP is the internal LAN IP address. If not able to reach the ISY externally look at the external IP address. They are different IP addresses.
