I am getting this error. Not sure if it is preventing anything from working properly. I tried closing the administrative console and then clearing the java cache. Any other ideas?

although, they were there last night, this morning my programs don't show up in the administrative console. I get this socket error again, so I suspect that they are there, just not accessible for some reason.

Any ideas as to how to fix this one?

Have you tried closing all web browser windows and clearing your Java cache?

Any firewall or anti-virus software running that could be interfering?

This is cause by eiter a proxy or firewall blocking some actions.

Guy, the previous posters are correct. Did you just update your ISY's firmware? If so, you must clear your Java cache--note that the cache will not be cleared unless all browser windows are closed!

If that is not the case, then it is most likely a firewall issue.

I talked with Darrell in customer support and we went through resetting the cache, turning off the firewall, dismantling the anti-virus, etc. None of this fixed it. Then we unplugged the PLM (I have a new PLM that came with Houselinc 2) and this fixed it.

For future people with this error, I'd suggest starting here. Darrell, pls chime in here if there are any caveats to unplugging the PLM.

thanks,

Hi Guy,

It's very interesting to know that the Houselinc2 PLM works with ISY. Please do let us know if you experience any issues (or update us if it works well without any issues).

since I solved this problem the other day, I've gotten this socket error and the system locks up. It seems to happen mostly when I am making changes in the "main" tab and not when I'm working on programs.

I then unplug and replug the PLM and it solves the problem.

Does this mean the new PLM is not cooperating with the ISY-99? If so, what is the solution?

Hello someguy,

This does not mean that the problem is the PLM. This only means that when you reboot your ISY, the problem goes away temporarily.

Do you have Internet Access enabled? Do you have any devices on your network that might be using port 443? Have you tried rebooting your router?

With kind regards,

Michel

I used to have this problem all the time. I have a linksys WRT150N wirelss router and I found my changing the MTU from auto to manual and the rate to 1024 the problem went away and I never say it again. The MTU on my machines are also running 1024. Since I did this it runs rock solid including backups and installs plus other little network hiccups I was seeing went away.

I found what MTU stands for, but I'm not sure where in my router settings it would be. I searched the support for my router and found nothing.

Can anyone help here?

Hello someguy,

What type of router do you have? Usually, the port forwarding rules are either in the Virtual Server or Port Forwarding sections.

As far as MTU, I am not sure why this would help but I am most interested to know if this also works for you. Usually, you will find MTU in the Advanced Networking tab.

With kind regards,

Michel

I power cycled my router.

How do I check port 433? I know it is probably child's play.

Hi someguy,

Please do not unplug ISY when this happens. Instead - and if your ISY is on the Internet - send us an email next time when this happens (support@universal-devices.com) so that we can rule out:

1. computer

2. router

I suspect you have another device on your network with is port forwarded using either port 80 or 443:

Please go to the Virtual Server tab in your router and let me know if you have any devices listed there and, if so, their settings.

Thanks and with kind regards,

Michel

I have a D-Link DIR-615 Router:

thanks for any help here, I am still getting that error quite often. I continue to reset the ISY when it happens by unplugging the PLM.

I have nothing listed in the "virtual servers" page and nothing listed in the port forwarding page of my router.
