Davonavo Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Recent installation of four 2852-222 4314REV2.3 Leak Sensors report changes in Wet/Dry conditions to Log and Admin Console properly, reset properly, but Heartbeat is not logged (24 hr. period) and Current State is always On. How do I know if Heartbeat function is operating?
LeeG Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 (edited) Use a Program like this to monitor Heartbeat. This one turns On an X10 device, most folks prefer a Notification if Heartbeat fails. HeartBeat - [iD 0044][Parent 0001] If Control 'Leak Sensor-Dry / Leak Sensor-Heartbeat' is switched On Or Control 'Leak Sensor-Dry / Leak Sensor-Heartbeat' is switched Off Then Wait 25 hours Send X10 'A10/All Lights On (5)' Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') The ISY Log shows change of state. The Heartbeat will have the same state as long as it stays dry. Edited June 15, 2015 by LeeG
larryllix Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 It should be mentioned with the program above (LeeG) technique that something has to initiate the program the first time to get a notification or 'Send X10 'A10/All Lights On (5)'' by starting the Wait timer. This can either be a Heartbeat, to kick things off, a call in the initialisation of ISY (after power up), or the user running "Then" section manually. If the program is not running true then neither of the three ever happened.
Stan in CT Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Hi, New to this, so appreciate any help from this forum. I have 4 Insteon leak sensors (2852-222) in a near whole house Insteon installation completed over a year ago. A week ago, I noticed a Wet status ‘ON’ on one of the sensors but didn’t receive an alert email that I’d programmed and tested when it was installed. So, I attempted to reset the sensor, but the ISY 994i Admin Console (Firmware 4.3.26 UI 4.1.1) still showed this sensor’s Heartbeat status as BLANK, its Wet was OFF and its Dry was ON. I then factory reset the sensor and linked it afresh and got the same - Heartbeat status as BLANK, its Wet was OFF and its Dry was ON. Note, I did this is close proximity to the PLM, so I know it’s not a location issue, indeed the sensor normally sits with 10” of the PLM. I tested one of the other sensors by simulating a Wet status and as expected the Wet status changed to ON, Dry to OFF and Heartbeat remained ON. An email alert was sent, exactly as I expected. A double click reset the sensor and MobiLinc showed the reset instantly. The rogue sensor doesn’t appear to have any battery issues from what I can see as it cycles through the blinking, fast blinking green LED sequence as is the norm. Any suggestions? Lastly, Is there a way to get an alert when the heartbeat stops? Thanks
LeeG Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 (edited) First the UI is down level, Install the 4.3.26 UI (Admin Console). Step 4.a of the 4.3.26 topic has UI install procedure. The Heartbeat node issues a message every 24 hours (approx) under normal operation. It will be Blank until first Heartbeat message. The Leak Sensor battery is expected to last 10 years so battery is not likely an issue. Older Leak Sensor devices will cycle from Dry to Wet to Dry if the environment goes Wet and then Dry. The newest Leak Sensors go Wet and remain Wet even if the environment goes back to Dry. What is the firmware level of the Leak Sensor? A Program like this will monitor Heartbeat. If a Heartbeat message is not received in 25 hours send an email, turn On a device, whatever action you chose for a missing Heartbeat. HeartBeat - [iD 0044][Parent 0001] If Control 'Leak Sensor-Dry / Leak Sensor-Heartbeat' is switched On Or Control 'Leak Sensor-Dry / Leak Sensor-Heartbeat' is switched Off Then Wait 25 hours some action of choice to alert for missing Heartbeat. Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Edited January 14, 2016 by LeeG

Stan in CT Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Upgraded UI to v4.3.26, thanks LeeG Leak Sensors are all v.43. I've added your program - will wait 25 hours and check. Curious why this is the expected behavior now as I had a different recollection when I first installed these over a year ago - is this an intended change? Thanks Teken for the program link.

LeeG Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 (edited) Smartlabs has changed the way the newest Leak Sensors work (remaining in Wet state). They rarely explain why a device is changed. I assume so that a Wet condition requires user intervention. Otherwise an intermittent leak could go unnoticed. You may be remembering what happens when tested with the Set button which is not a real leak condition. Edited January 14, 2016 by LeeG
larryllix Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 My latest two Leak sensors send Wet On or Wet Off (may have been Dry On, or both) depending on how long you hold the button.
Stan in CT Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Heartbeat now showing an ON status in ISY Previously I don't recall using the Test button, instead preferring the wet sponge method as a more real-life test. Tried the wet sponge method just now and MobiLinc correctly showed Wet and Heartbeat ON, Dry OFF. Interestingly the sensor did not flash the green LED as a warning. eMail warning received correctly as per program. Double clicked the sensor to reset and the nodes look good. I do prefer the Wet status ON requiring a manual (double click) reset, so I'm good. Thanks all!
Teken Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Stan, Good to hear, now on to the next project!
