raymondh Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 I have z-wave working just fine in ISY except for the multi-sensor aspect. I'm patiently waiting but in the mean time, I also run Homeseer mainly for TTS and SONOS integration. My HS does have z-wave capability (including multi-sensor support) so I'm thinking about moving z-wave control over to that system while I wait for ISY support. My question is whether or not that is some type of advantage in keeping the ISY in the loop. I really have no idea what the role of a secondary controller. If I transfer the primary controller role over to HS and make the ISY secondary, is there any advantages or disadvantages?
belanger Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 I'm surprised this was never answered, seems something fundamental to be aware. I think you could in cases have some redundancy in the case your main controller fails. Am I right?
Michel Kohanim Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 Hi belanger, Secondary controllers may not be able to assign node IDs. I am not so sure about redundancy. With kind regards, Michel
belanger Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 Hi belanger, Secondary controllers may not be able to assign node IDs. I am not so sure about redundancy. With kind regards, Michel I see a possibility of having multiple controllers after reading => http://www.vesternet.com/resources/technology-indepth/understanding-z-wave-networks Maybe I see too far
nwchicago Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 Is there any documentation on how to setup a secondary controller? Thanks. NWC
