GaryK4 Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 I just got a new Mini-Remote - 8 Scene. I tried Start linking and it did not find the device.Then I tried Add new device entering the address. The first time using auto discovery and the next selecting (2342-222) Remotelinc2 keypad 8 scene and the other 2342 devices. All attempts failed. The following devices could not be added: 35.76.6F Unsupported Device:0.26 - Device is not currently supported. The Box is labeled 2342-222. The back of the device says 2342-2 The address label 35.76.6F v1.7 1518 I am running ISY994i v4.3.1 Am I doing something wrong?
LeeG Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Upgrade to 4.3.26, Firmware and UI. Use New Insteon Device, and Auto Discover
GaryK4 Posted December 15, 2015 Author Posted December 15, 2015 OK, I updated to 4.3.26. Now I am able to add the device. After installing, the text next to the address still says - Unsupported device:0.26 All or the keypad buttons have light bulb icon next to them.I cannot seem to make then a controller for a LED bulb or Lamplinc. When I copy a button to a scene, the panel displays shortly with the controller / responder option then closes in about 2 seconds before I can set it to controller.The full size keypad that I have do not do this. They work fine. What am I missing?
jerlands Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 I have a 2342-222 v1.5 (1445) that was added probably around a year ago without problems. Did you update your UI to the same version as your Firmware (see help>about in UI.) Also, I linked about 6 feet away from the PLM, you can open Event Viewer to level 3 and view linking events and see if moving nearer or further away does any good. Jon...
GaryK4 Posted December 15, 2015 Author Posted December 15, 2015 OOPS, that will teach me for doing this late at night. I forgot to update the UI. I deleted the device, did a factory reset, then added it back in. Now everything works as expected without the not supported message!! Thanks for the help.

alanbrothers Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 I am new to Insteon and Universal Devices. I am having same exact problem as GaryK4, but with Mini Remote 2342-232. I have the latest firmware version 4.3.26 and UI version 4.2.30 It appears Gary updated his UI to solve the problem. Where can I find location to download/update my UI? Thanks in Advance
LeeG Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 Link to 4.3.26 (link below), scroll down to 4.a. Be sure to clear Java cache. http://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/17075-release-4326-is-now-official/page-1
alanbrothers Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 Lee- I tried 4.d and it worked. Problem solved. Thank You Very Much
Wilson Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 New to Insteon/ISY. Have similar problem - cannot connect to mini remote. Have 4.3.26 version on ISY & UI. Have tried both Start linking & Add new Insteon device. but get 'cannot determine Insteon Engine'. Tried locating mini remote near 2 working 2477D dimmers & 3 feet from PLM2413S communication tracking gives this Wed 01/20/2016 04:16:47 PM : [iNST-TX-I1 ] 02 62 2E 76 29 0F 0D 00 Wed 01/20/2016 04:16:47 PM : [iNST-ACK ] 02 62 2E.76.29 0F 0D 00 06 (00) Does the 06 indicate there is communication coming back from mini remote? Wondering if the mini remote is an older version (just purchased, but appears to be old stock) - maybe not compatible. Box says it is 'Device 30' and part number on back is 2342-2. Did not find that number in device drop down list - all 2342 have another 3 digits identifiers. Mini remote can be direct programmed to control 2477D dimmer. Thanks for ideas Wilson
LeeG Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 The second trace line is PLM ACKing receipt of command that asks for Insteon Engine. There should be an 02 50 response from device Wed 01/20/2016 04:16:47 PM : [iNST-TX-I1 ] 02 62 2E 76 29 0F 0D 00 Wed 01/20/2016 04:16:47 PM : [iNST-ACK ] 02 62 2E.76.29 0F 0D 00 06 (00) Wed 01/20/2016 08:39:17 PM : [All ] Writing 1 bytes to devices Wed 01/20/2016 08:39:17 PM : [iNST-TX-I1 ] 02 62 1C FD D5 0F 0D 00 Wed 01/20/2016 08:39:17 PM : [iNST-ACK ] 02 62 1C.FD.D5 0F 0D 00 06 (00) Wed 01/20/2016 08:39:17 PM : [iNST-SRX ] 02 50 1C.FD.D5 22.80.0B 2B 0D 02 (02) Wed 01/20/2016 08:39:17 PM : [std-Direct Ack] 1C.FD.D5-->ISY/PLM Group=0, Max Hops=3, Hops Left=2 Wed 01/20/2016 08:39:17 PM : [1C FD D5 0 ] Calibrating engine version Use New INSTEON Device Put Mini-Remote into linking mode by pressing Set button 3-5 seconds until Green LED blinks continuiously Enter Insteon address of mini-remote Name of choice Leave Auto Discover and Remove existing links Click Ok
Wilson Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Thanks very much LeeG!! Mini-remote is recognized! I think I had tried New INSTEON device, but not put Mini into programming mode. Basic programming mini also works - so I'm good to go. Think I'll go back to the store for another old stock one (lower pricing ) for another room. Wilson
