Admin console immediately closes after opening

Featured Replies

I have an ISY 994i and when I access the admin console, it opens then immediately closes.  I've done this for both Firefox and Internet Explorer.  Both have the exact same problem.   I'm using Windows 7.

About the only change I've made is I started integrating Amazon's Echo with the ISY (which works well, by the way).  Otherwise, I've made no changes.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do?

Thank you.

Try clearing the java cache completely and reloading the ISY UI. I don't see what this would do but if java updated on you it could destroy the current setup.

From the Wiki...

Admin Console Closes Automatically

This is usually related to firewall software on your computer and especially with AVAST or AVG (including MAC). Two solutions:

Also, you might consider using the java application rather than the applet as the applet gets tied into browser resources.

The other thing to look at is Java security settings.

Thank you both.  What is the java application?  (I've always used the interface on a browser to get in.)

Well, this morning I did what an engineer (I have an EE degree) should do:  I rebooted the ISY.  I tried again and it worked!  The admin console is working.

However, if I did not have to go through a browser, that would be great.  When I upgraded to the latest software and followed the instructions, I noticed there is now a shortcut on my desktop to the ISY Admin Console.  Is this the java application?  This seems to go straight to the console without using a browser.  (You'll have to excuse me:  I never put anything on the desktop and in fact have a completely clean desktop.  So I don't look at the desktop for programs, since I assume none are there.  If this is the java application, I'll put it on my taskbar.)

Well, I misspoke.  It worked great...once.  Now, when I go back in, it does the same thing -- opens and immediately closes.  Darn.  I have to go to work and likely will not be able to get back to this until this weekend. I'll try the tips above.

I'm having this same problem at my home.  I'm able to remotely log in and make changes via my work PC.  I'll try clearing the java cache later this evening to see it that is the problem.

I noticed there is now a shortcut on my desktop to the ISY Admin Console.  Is this the java application?

Yes, and you always want the UI version to match the Firmware version.

Yes, when you run the browser access for the first time it loads the Administration Console java applet onto your desktop for you convenient usage next time.

When java updates sometimes, or whenever you upgrade your ISY firmware version the java applet has to match the version of the f/w. Trouble is java like to hang onto everything and use the existing stuff. This causes problems with ISY.

If you run Windows, go into the Control Panel and looks for the java icon. Under the first tab "General" at the bottom there is a button "Settings" that has the clearing of java junk on the pop-up box. Look for the "Delete FIles".  Check all boxes for a clean slate.

I tried clearing the cache (did not work), uninstalling then reinstalling Java (did not work).

However, in accordance with Michel's instructions, I renamed the link to ISY from my network address to https://networkaddress, and this worked.

However, I've lost the link on my desktop that allowed me to go directly to the control panel.  How do I get that back?

That's the java application (.jnlp) and you download it from the release thread for your firmware version.

If you are having success with an outside of your LAN address (via Internet)

here is what I did,

Open the Amin Console and when the "ISY Finder = Not found" box opens, quick click on the "Add??" button (before it continues and loads the AC) and a text box input will popup. Enter your LAN address and port for your ISY and click "save". This may take a run or two to  memorise where the button is to beat the software in action. :)

Now, every time you run the Admin Console and the ISY Finder pops up you will have to double click on the URL (IP address) of your choice.
