themlruts Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 Guys what's the story on the Android app. I just switched from an iPhone to Android and man the app is way behind compared to iOS. I did buy the app as it's my only option. Bit your are charging 20 for it. You guys need to bring this up to par to the iOS app. Do you have an eta on the over haul of the app? With the technology we have today I don't see it being that difficult to port I could be wrong. Mike
MWareman Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 I did this switch as well - gave up waiting for Mobilinc to catch up. I switched to a collection of Tasker profiles and tasks (written up on the Wiki) and more recently Agave (a very capable ISY application for Android). Wrote my own Elk app and use Tinycam PRO (which now integrates via Tasker). I still use Mobilinc on my iPad - best app available there.
DennisC Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 When on Android, I will second the use of Agave. This app is actively being developed and works well.

I haven't been working on it for long, but I hope to have it comparable to any other android app soon. It don't have a few of the features that are available from other apps but, I intend on tackling those this coming fall. Its 30 days free to try so that give you plenty of time to make up your mind.

About to swap myself from work provided iphone to own android and really disappointed with lack of support for cameras and elk (both of which I have).
oberkc Posted July 30, 2016 Posted July 30, 2016 I still use mobilinc. I judge it on its own merit relative to other android apps, not relative to the iOS counterparts (even if discouraging). The thing I like best is the integration of mobilinc with tasker. This fills a lot of the gaps, and more. Another thing I like is mobilinc widgets (though tasker can create the widgets, as well). Try that on an iOS device. I have tried the early version of agave, and it works fine, but lacked the widgets and tasker integration that I valued. My perceptions are that those who want to use the phone as a remote seem to like it, however. Having said these things, be aware that my needs may differ from yours. I rarely (but on occasion) use my phone as a lighting remote control. Neither does it bother me to use different apps for video and lighting control. I also admit that visuals do not much excite me, including whether something is "skeumorphic" or "material design" or whatever the next buzzword is. If something looks "dated" but is otherwise functional, that works for me. Also be aware that much can be done with tasker alone if you have the network module and time/skills to make it all play together.

Please don't be too disappointed. mobilinc has had many years to develop and produce features that I am attempting to provide within the first year of availability. I have only been working on this product for a little over a year now and feel that I have been able to provide a product with quite a few features that most of the android apps have. I have an extended list of plans for development and will begin development of those this fall. As always, I have a limited supply of devices and implore users to provide as much information about devices that they use that are not supported so that I can add specialized functionality inside my app.

I was pleased to see your product and plans.
MWareman Posted July 30, 2016 Posted July 30, 2016 I was pleased to see your product and plans. As am I. Unlike Mobilinc who generally keep future plans tight under wraps....
