upstatemike Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 I just got a new controLinc for my kitchen to replace the old one that would not control the switches linked to button 1. I added the controlinc to ISY and was surprised that it did not prompt me to press any butoons on the controlinc befor proceeding as I recall having to do in the past (I am using the most recent version of ISY firmware). After the new ControLinc was added, I right clicked on button one of the old ControLinc and selected and replaced it with the new ControLinc button 1. Again, I was not prompted to press any buttons on the ControLinc before proceeding. The replacement took much longer than normal and I got many strange messages during the process such as: "LR RMT Failed Getting engine version. Reverting to I1." This was strange because the Living Room remotelinc is not part of any scene in common with the kitchen ControLinc and does not have any links whatsoever with any switch controlled by the kitchen ControLinc. So why was the ISY99 even looking at the LR RMT remotelinc during the eplace process? I got the same message in reference to a couple of other remotelincs as well as my test switch which was not plugged in and which also has no links to the ControLinc being swapped. After the process completed the buttons on the new Controlinc did not work at all although if I press All ON or All Off the sitches linked to button 1 will turn On and Off. The switch linked to button 2 does not respond to anything I do on the ControLinc. Do I need to follow a different proceedure to get the ContrLinc programmed correctly?
Michel Kohanim Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 Hi upstatemike, In 2.6.13 and above, and due to some bugs (no ID Req), we are forcing CL/RL additions to be done by address. That's why you do not have to press any of the buttons. You have followed the correct procedure. The only reason ISY would try to remove links to devices is if those links are in ISY's table. The only possibilities when you would have links in ISY links table but not represented in scenes: 1. ISY bug (you had those links, removed them, but ISY didn't remove them from the links table) 2. Import ... you imported the links for your original CL and they have lived on Now, as far as your new CL not controlling anything any longer, would you be kind enough to click on any of the buttons and make sure they are indeed controllers for the scene (check the tree to your right). If you have an extra button, would you be kind enough to add it to a test scene? And, finally, during the programming process, did you get any other failure messages which might have indicated failed communications to any of the other devices? With kind regards, Michel I just got a new controLinc for my kitchen to replace the old one that would not control the switches linked to button 1. upstatemike Posted January 11, 2009 Author Posted January 11, 2009 I fixed it by deleting from ISY/facory reset/ add back to ISY/add each button back to its scene. Seems to be working now.
upstatemike Posted December 3, 2012 Author Posted December 3, 2012 Once again am having a Controlinc challenge... This time I pulled a spare off the shelf to replace a failing unit and discovered there is no address label on it. How do I "discover" the address on a Controlinc?
LeeG Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 Remove the bottom battery. On the long side vertical wall of the battery compartment normally covered by the bottom battery is the Insteon Address label.
upstatemike Posted December 3, 2012 Author Posted December 3, 2012 Thanks but this is a controlinc not remotelinc. Ended up manually linking it to an appliance moduel then reading the link table to discover the new address.
LeeG Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 My bad. That is how it is done where the address is not known.
