Bringing back an oldie but goodie. Looking into window treatments (starting from scratch) and was wondering if anyone out there has integrated Hunter Douglas into their ISY based system?

If so, how easily was it accomplished or should I be looking at a Somfy based system instead of Hunter Douglas?

Somfy can interface with the ISY via Zwave. The Somfy motors have hardwired, replaceable batteries, and rechargeable battery options. Not sure about Hunter Douglas as some manufactures use a proprietary protocol.

Sorry to sidetrack the thread somewhat but...
"short cut commands" is that GH Routines?

Indeed.  You are probably right that Google changed name from shortcut to routine.  Apparently we are slower here than in Canada to keep track of these changes.

For what it's worth, I'm waiting on the TRÅDFRI compatible blinds out of Ikea to come out, tentatively November 1st in the US.  I'm not thrilled on the idea of a rechargeable battery since I have AC power right there, but the price is right and hopefully I'll be able to control them via a nodeserver, since they're ZigBee 3.0.

This seems like the way to go but I cannot seem to find vertical panels that have a somfy solution. We have a few of these and want to keep it the same across the board.  Hopefully someone on here has done Hunter Douglas lately and can comment.  I only see old threads referencing old fw versions and solutions.

I am going to order some shades to finish the basement and want them motorized. Is Bali autoview the preferred way to go to get control with the ISY?

Thanks

If you have a zwave network it's the way I would go. If not be aware you will need to build out your zwave network to get things to work properly

As I have mentioned before, my setup is with these Zwave controlled automatic curtains and they work very well. I have ISY programs to open / close depending on day and time, and I also have Google Home routines ("OK Google Open X master curtains", etc). The only negative is that it is not practical to open curtains half-way, but in my case that is not an issue.

For me, saying "Alexa, open the blinds" is something until recently only available in my dreams, lol.  I don't have the tech level yet to do any hardcore code integrating... so I needed something that could (A) fit my budget, (default_cool.png was easy to install and would easily work with both EXISTING and NEW blinds.  Thanks to Tilt's automated smart blinds, that became my reality.  I did a full review and installation of them on my YouTube channel which can help you decide... but honestly I wouldn't go anywhere else.  Youtube link ([/url]) With over 60 patents Tilt offers automatic smart blinds that work with Alexa and Google with voice command prompts already setup, plus an app for your phone.  Ok... so they've got cool tech - but, "What about the installation?"  I found there were no worries there either!  Call me surprised and amazed to find that you don't even need a screwdriver or tools to install the blinds!  Smart blinds by Tilt affix to the window frame by a specially engineered patented design that expands the blind to fit your window exactly.  Sound too good to be true?  Well... I thought so until I tried them myself.  Click this link https://bit.ly/3dATQk1 to check out Tilt's website.  They're well worth the money and I have nearly 20 installed throughout my home and I'm now a dedicated customer.  Hope this helps, cheers!

I just took a look at Tilt to see if the Somfy setup I'm planning is still the right choice...

- They have no API, so unless they choose to write the integration, it may be very challenging or impossible to integrate to the ISY. They've been saying integration with SmartThings has been coming for at least 2 years but still hasn't landed.

- Control outside of bluetooth range is all cloud-based

- No hardwire options (power or control)

- So while they have a few timer options, they have no method for automation (except perhaps through Alexa?). So they're really just remote-controlled shades, not automated shades.

While the price may be attractive, I'll stick with my current plans.
