Is the Phillip hue supported?

Hi, since insteon don't have color led bulbs are the Phillip Hue supported?

 

I saw some older post but nothing new.

Not natively.

 

With the network module, you can send commands to hue devices.  Check out this wonderful narrative:

Polyglot, running on another computer (RPi?) has a Hue Node to make the devices look ntaive in ISY by installing a node for Hue.

 

It was set up originally as as the native parameter style, so I just use NR for mine with colour tables so the variois styles of bulbs all match colours.

Most use a RPi CPU for Polyglot. Complete instructions can be found on the polglot website. That can be found in some other threads here.

 

The NR module is about the easiest if you can find a screen shot somebody has posted. IIRC the NR module did cost $49 but is offered included as a subscription with the ISY Portal and is the easiest way to implement an Amazon voice appliance....and well done too.

An example?  Of what? 

 

A little more detail can help, perhaps. First, you must have the network module.  It is an add-on to the ISY software.  It cost $50, I believe.  Do you have it?  If not, you must purchase it (from "help" >>> "purchase modules".)

 

Once you have the module, under "configuration" tab, you will now see a "networking" tab.  You will have to "add" a network resource for every action you anticipate.  You would need a resource to turn on a hue light to a certain color and intensity.  You would need a different resource for a different color or intensity.  You would need an additional resource to turn it off.  You would need those resources added for each hue device. 

 

Do you know how to find the IP address of your hue hub?  Do you know how to establish a static address for the hue hub from your router settings?  These things will be important.

 

To add a resource, from the network resources tab, select "add".  Give it a name that will help you remember what it is and does.  Double-click the URL associated with the newly-named resource.  Fill in the fields in the pop-up, consistent with the instructions from the post linked earlier.

 

Once you have established the network resources, create an ISY program which calls the resource.  It can be as simple as:

 

if

time is sunrise

then

resource "myhueresource"

 

You may need to create mulitple programs, depending on your needs and resources created.

 

From mobilinc, find that program and run "then" path to manually turn on (or off) your hue lights.

I was referring a scene in general.

like I mentioned earlier if the philip hue sensor or insteon sensor trigger turn the hue bulbs on.

but is my understanding that should be easily done.

 

I asked here 1st before committing the $$ for the hue system just to make sure that it would semi work.

some of the step I could find, IP etc.

Mobilinc Connect does not help you to control Hue bulbs. You need the network module in order to make outbound requests from ISY.

 

The Network Module is a one-time purchase.

 

The Network Module is also INCLUDED if you get ISY Portal. ISY Portal is a two-year subscription. If you already have the Network Module, I believe you can be credited for it on some pro-rata basis against ISY Portal cost.

 

Philips Hue is not seamlessly integrated by using the Network Module. You have to use programs to make network requests. The alternative is to run some node server on a rPi, always-on desktop, etc. - there are several that support Hue. Then the Hue devices appear just like any Insteon or Z-wave node.

 

I dunno about Hue sensors. That's in the opposite direction. Does the Hue gateway have some ability to send network requests? I'm sure Hue owners here can comment. You do not need any add-ons to RECEIVE network requests. It can be done locally, or via UDI portal or Mobilinc portal. Again, not as nice and integrated as with a node server.

There is no support for sensors that might be attached to a Hue Hub.  Network resources can't hep with this (they are outbound only).  And the Hue node server (via Polyglot) doesn't support sensors.
