Mustang65 Posted November 16, 2017 Author Posted November 16, 2017 I just put the remote on the charger, just in case Don
Techman Posted November 16, 2017 Posted November 16, 2017 First big snag, The following device could not be added.... The RemoteLinc Keypad 2, 8 scene, V00...... Cannot determine Insteon Engine The remote was originally on the HUB, now trying to program with the ISY994 Don You've got a communication issue between the device and the ISY Factory reset the device, then put it into the linking mode and add it to the ISY Make sure the device is close to either the PLM or a dual band device. What version of the ISY firmware and UI are you running?
Mustang65 Posted November 16, 2017 Author Posted November 16, 2017 I completed the factory reset 3x No luck Worked before shutting down the HUB, a little while ago. I unplugged the ISY, restarted the HUB no response from the buttons. ISY recognizes the PLM = Connected Firmware version = V4.6.2 UI = V4.6.2 PLM = 49.94.9 V9E Don
Teken Posted November 16, 2017 Posted November 16, 2017 Hello Don, Have you tried linking using both methods? Also, you may want to try to be very far away from the 2413S PLM but close to a dual band device when you try the enrollment process again.
Mustang65 Posted November 16, 2017 Author Posted November 16, 2017 Tried both methods with the same results. Letting the remote get a full charge now. Will probably disconnect the ISY tonight and run the HUB as the main remote that the wife uses should still be working on the HUB. Happy wife = Happy Life Don

Happy wife = Happy Life Don Hello Don, Once the RL2 is fully charged perform the hard reset a few more times. Once complete go to the closest dual band device you have like a switch, outlet, plugin module. Ensure you're as far as possible from the 2413S PLM while doing so. Press and hold the set button until it blinks and then press the two swirling arrows for a auto link.
lilyoyo1 Posted November 16, 2017 Posted November 16, 2017 Did you add the remotelinc by device ID and have it in linking mode?
Mustang65 Posted November 17, 2017 Author Posted November 17, 2017 Did you add the remotelinc by device ID and have it in linking mode? Since it is an RF device it needs the device ID as the software does not search RF. Don
lilyoyo1 Posted November 17, 2017 Posted November 17, 2017 Since it is an RF device it needs the device ID as the software does not search RF. Don I know which is why I was asking you if you did it that way. One of the most common mistakes is that a person tries to add a device simply by pressing the set button by itself. The next common is using the device ID and not having the device in linking mode at the time
stusviews Posted November 17, 2017 Posted November 17, 2017 The rotating arrows icon requires that you only press the set button. The Insteon ID will get filled in if the device is recognized.
Brian H Posted November 17, 2017 Posted November 17, 2017 I have tried the Start Linking method with a RemoteLincII. It did not work for me. I had to use the special drop down choice in Link Management for it to work.
Mustang65 Posted November 17, 2017 Author Posted November 17, 2017 I used the drop down menu to select it. Is there a way to determine if the ISY is actually sending/receiving RF signals? The units plugged into the electrical outlets all work fine, it seems just to be the RF mini remote. I am going to try the other mini remote today to see what happens... What frequency does the ISY use? The 400Mhz band or the 900Mhz band? Thanks Don
Mustang65 Posted November 17, 2017 Author Posted November 17, 2017 I just retried the remote that was giving me a pain yesterday and it recognized it this morning. Same process as yesterday. Thanks for your assistance Don

What frequency does the ISY use? The 400Mhz band or the 900Mhz band? Thanks Don Hello Don, The ISY does not use a Insteon RF it uses the 2413S PLM dual band hardware to send and receive the Insteon signal. You can bring up the level 3 error logging and watch the process and copy it and let us see here. Dollars to donuts you need to enroll next to another dual band hardware. Also note the admin console has two dedicated RL2 options which should be used if the two other methods fail to work. As the 4.X.X firmware release notes indicate that method is the preferred method. I've never used it to be honest but that is another option. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
stusviews Posted November 17, 2017 Posted November 17, 2017 Insteon RF is 915 MHz. All dual-band device use this frequency. BTW, more than once a device I added or a scene I created doesn't work correctly until the next day. Somewhat frustrating.
Mustang65 Posted November 18, 2017 Author Posted November 18, 2017 I created a bunch of scenes yesterday... they all seem to be working fine today. I created a few programs and they worked fine, even using sunset. I still have no clue as to what happened the other day when no matter what I did the remote/system would not communicate and then the next morning, using the same method it worked. I even rebooted everything that pain in the butt day All is working OK, next is the iPhone app and a few more programs Don
