Smarthome Status

Does anyone know the current status of Smarthome? They have had a long succession of discounted sales which brings to mind serious questions as to their long-term business plans. Are any new or upgraded products in the works?

Smarthome or SmartLabs (insteon). I have been wondering the same thing about SmartLabs. I keep track at the FCC applications. (https://fccid.io/SBP ) Haven't seen anything really new since the motion sensor in 2016.

They were purchased by a large investment house a while ago. Claim was that they were going to pour some capital in, but I don't see it.  A number of items have been discontinued. Have contacted the investment company to see if they are up for sale, but claim they aren't.

I did see a pod cast a little while ago from an electronics show. Where Steve Lee has indicated new products where in the works but could not elaborate further.

I have not seen anything on Smarthome and Smartlabs health.

I have also questioned their present status and how many of the Insteon devices are now gone.

They've discontinued several of their products and deeply discounted others which suggests they are thinning out their product line.

I was told that the new owners are going to focus on the Insteon Hub and the smart phone apps.

They seem to be pushing their Hub integration with the Amazon Echo

@Techman Where are the thinned out products? Looks like most of the same core products to me:

I've seen the smokebridge discounted, but the First Alert Sensor Family (wireless, non z-wave) it supports is on FA's  "End of life" warning list. Makes sense to start getting rid of the bridge and get z-wave for this type of product. Their clearance page has a lot of z-wave and some zigbee on it

For the "succession of discounts", they've followed x10.com's lead on semi annual deep discount specials as long as I can remember. That's how I built most of my network.

They are definitely in a "Status quo" state, can't argue that. No sign of new products, but I've found nothing in the rest of the product line that says anything has changed.

They discontinued the Wireless thermostat, the white tabletop KPL enclosure, and the led color change kits for the KPL. They've deeply discounted the Black table top KPL enclosure.

These are the items I'm aware of, there's probably more.

I'm not aware of anything in the development stage, and there's nothing new on the FCC certification site for Smartlabs.

UPDATE

In addition to the above, they also discontinued the Synchrolinc and most ofthe colored options for the KPL and Switches.

What bothers me the most is that there has been no news releases, updates notices, etc. since the Company was bought out. This is not a healthy way to run a Company.

I'm a bit annoyed that they've discontinued various colors of OutletLinks (there's no color change kit for these).  They're hard to find in black, grey and dark brown these days.

I have not seen the Light Pipe and paddle color change kits for the SwitcLincs  in a long time.

If they are going to concentrate on the Hubs. I hope they improve them. I have seen many reports the Hubs are also failing on a regular basis as the 2413  PLM's. Though it looks like they have a repair service for the HUB modules.

Yes, I needed a black dimmer and could only find one on ebay,  I think they have also discontinued the SIgnaLinc Phase Coupler, the DIN rail dimmers and the 240V load controller as I can't find them available.

There was also the short-lived 10v dimmer device, and siren...

It wasn't short lived. It simply never sold enough to warrant what it cost to make and carry them them.
