@Blackbird,

Thank you for the clarification but I didn't misunderstand you. The discount is for a "limited time" and ends on July 5. So, if the discount was a justification for lack of full potential, then it would have lasted till October or even later. Again, the discounts are just to say thank you.

With kind regards,
Michel

Yeah, and also to raise cash so that UDI can make a large enough production run initially to bring the per unit cost to reasonable levels.  Not that I'm complaining though!  You guys are a for profit business and I'll take any discount I can get. :)

I am trying to understand the current results of the poll. At this stage 33 responded to question 1 and same for question 2.  But 4 responded to question 1 that they do not plan to pre-order a Polisy, while 33 responded to question 2 that they ordered, or will order, either base model or pro. I think this explains why statistics & polls are difficult to rely on (as was the case in November 2016).

This being said, I welcome this poll anyway and hope that soon there will be 3300 respondents and more :-)

It seems the ones that said no were saying that had not yet ordered but were planning on getting the regular one

That would be a logical explanation but different from what is actually asked..... As I said, responses to political polls also often give conflicting results.

That's very true

I voted no plans and the survey would not let me skip #2 since I have no plans of buying one right now. So I had to pick one module in#2 even though I said no in #1. So #2 is not 100% accurate.

There is a poll?

On the web. Polls don’t work in Tapatalk, if you’re using that. You can use the web view in Tapatalk, though.

Same issue as BrianH, BTW.

Yep. I just logged onto the web - see it now. Perhaps that's why the response rate is low...

I bought the Pro. Didn't want to take a chance that I needed bluetooth later and couldn't add it. That and price likely won't get any better...
You should watch the mail for the suit I'm filing for copyright infringement :)

October is a few weeks away and hopefully Polisy is on schedule. Exciting times ahead.

I really want "string" data types to be supported :)

If it's web based images and other fancy stuff would be nice too, but strings would make so many things much easier from a development view.

YEAH STRINGS! I think they would mostly be useful on I/O. I don't see them that useful in programming...yet?
A simple method would be to just implement a string substitution on outputs, like email, and NS.

eg.
I would like to order some stringSub( ${var.2.78}, 'apples', 'pears', tomatoes', peaches' )

Inputting strings would be a whole 'nuther big deal trying to work out string input and converting to a numeric value. Implementing constant variables could help this.

Think of things like media management or players like Sonos.  Having strings to manipulate for playlists.  Or having strings to manipulate for things like Geofencing and having dynamic names of locations update based on current location of the person :)

Implementing variable to string array would work for me, being the complement of the other half. I already use string names for many ISY things.

Names of variables is one thing.  I'm hopeful for dynamic strings for device values.  Being able to send a string to a node for the value and it display.

Edit: I should say being able to easily do this without having to static define in the profile or hacking it to update/upload a new profile on changes.

That was my point. I only need string substitution from variables on outputs now. I don't ever expect ISY to do string processing in programs.

No not within programs.

Is polisy going to run the admin console on itself instead of syncing to a java console on your computer?  It sure would be nice.  The java thing needs to be reset every time your computer goes to sleep and it takes like 20 seconds or more to load it up.

It will be quite some time before Polisy can replace your ISY and the admin console that is currently required. In the beginning nothing changes from what is done currently as Polisy is an add on device.

From what I gather, the ISY is accessed once you are able to port your system to polisy would be done the same way

Don't get you hopes up too high. Java is consistent and HTML/CSS/java code depends on which browser manufacturer you support. It may only run on MS Edge (example only) for some time and other brands may be a later addition.  Much may depend whether google gets their legal rulings trying to capture the DNS market.
