Jimini Posted July 8, 2019 Posted July 8, 2019 My ISY/Insteon controlled lights did not turn off this morning as they should have been programed to do, but this was the first morning for that new program to run so it may be a programming error. They turned on as programmed and the evening lights-on/light-off program has been running correctly for several days. When I launched the ISY Admin Console I got this message "LIB_ERROR-403". The console took especially long to initialize and gave me other error messages about not finding nodes. It also asked me to re-read and re-agree to the UDI agreement, which I had done a week or so ago. When all this initialization and error reporting was done. I seem to be able to turn lights on and off from the Admin Console but again it is very slow. And then looking to see what might be wrong with my programs, I find that why are all gone. No programs left to check. Any idea what's going on? Do I go direct to UDI for help?
Techman Posted July 8, 2019 Posted July 8, 2019 The problem might be with your firewall software. Are you running a Windows or MAC computer? In the Admin console click on HELP | ABOUT. What firmware and UI versions are you running?
Jimini Posted July 9, 2019 Author Posted July 9, 2019 My computer on which I'm running the ISY Admin Console is a Mac but I don't know how that would have caused this ERROR-403 to pup up. Interesting, I can't copy the information off the About window to paste it here. Some special kind of window the Mac doesn't recognize. Now I have to tay all these numbers by hand. Firmware is Insteon_UD994_OADR v.5.0.13D (2018-08-23-11:32:30) UI Insteon_UD994 v.5.013D (2018-08023011:27:29) Next interesting thing is that my lights turned on this evening following the program which I can no longer see from my Admin Console. According to that, I have no programs. Are the programs mystically kept some place else in the ISY that the console is not reading?
Techman Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 Try rebooting the ISY, that may bring back your programs. If not then take a look at these MAC troubleshooting tips in the UDI Wiki https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=Main_Page Your firmware and UI are correct, however you may want to update to the latest beta release, 5.0.15A which contains numerous bug fixes. Read the release notes and do a backup before you update your firmware
larryllix Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 Admin Console runs under java not a browser. Your java install may have some problems. This is very sensitive to firewall restrictions that can make it act flakey. You may need to make an allowance in your java install for ISY. You may have some network comm problems.
Jimini Posted July 9, 2019 Author Posted July 9, 2019 Thank you for the comments and suggestions. I will try rebooting the ISY when I get home from work this evening. Then look at the Mac troubleshooting document. If Java needs allowances for ISY, I will need some more direction as to what but I'll see if what I learn from the other actions first. Can someone tell me what this LIB_ERROR-403 is supposed to tell me and is it generated by the ISY itself or by the Java interface? Thanks

I did not explicitly enable internet access from the Admin Console. The ISY status states that it has internet access disabled. One other thing I forgot to mention but did check yesterday. The only LED showing on either front or back panels of ISY is the power light. Jimini

The only LED showing on either front or back panels of ISY is the power light. Jimini When there is no ISY activity only the blue power light should be lit. As Michel suggested check your SD card. You may want to remove power from the ISY then remove and reseat the card. The SD card in located in a slot in the middle of the ISY. You first need to remove the small rubber cover then use a blunt pointer to push on the end of the card. it should then pop out.

Also, I am not getting any more ERROR-403 messages, I haven't since I got the first one yesterday. Now that I have the programs visible, I found a trivial error in the program I made night before last to turn lights off after the morning routine. That explains why they were not turning off. It had nothing to do with the ERROR-403. I am reluctant to attempt to re-seat the SD card unless this ERROR-403 or some other problem re-occurs. I did look at the top of the ISY box and I don't immediately see this small rubber cover, at least I assumed this cover would be on top since the SD card is supposed to be in the middle of the board. But the picture in the manual of the ISY with cover removed appears to have the complete cover off, not just a small one that covers only part of the box. So I am very unclear at the procedure for re-seating or swapping ISY SD cards. Also, the manual states that the firmware must be reloaded after the SD card is swapped. Does that mean also if the SD card is just pulled out and then reinserted?

There's an old saying "If it's not broken then don't fix it" The rubber SD access cover is located on the FRONT of the ISY just below the words MICRO SD. if you just remove then reseat the SD card then the firmware remains intact. The only time you might have to reload the firmware is if you replace your SD card with a new card. Once you're satisfied that all your programs are working to your satisfaction you should do an ISY backup. It's also a good idea to run the topology report. The report will appear on your desktop and a copy will also be saved in your folder with your ISY backups. The topology report has a lot of information that you may find useful..
Jimini Posted July 12, 2019 Author Posted July 12, 2019 Well, I was planning to write today to close out this thread given that my system had been operating without any further error since I rebooted ISY back on Tuesday, however, when I returned home this afternoon and launch the ISY Launcher and Admin Console, the same error 403 popped up. This happened after the system had said that was loading variable and while it was loading something else, I think it was "nibs" or something. Also, may be worth noting that the Admin console recognizes the username and password that I set a few weeks ago, i.e. not the factory set values, but it does ask me to read and agree to Universal licensing agreement which I have agreed to again several weeks ago. So it is remembering some of what was set up but not everything. When the load finally finished my programs were gone as last time, but all the devices seem to be still listed. I assume they are still in ISY but no accessible to me via the Admin Console. So what's next to resolve what's causing this error. It would be very informative if not also helpful to know what causes and error 403. I am getting very concerned that no one offers an explanation of what causes it just as no one explained the last error message I received. Does this mean that no one knows? There should be a table in the manual with a list of such messages.

This will also delete the ISY icon from your desktop. Jimini Posted July 13, 2019 Author Posted July 13, 2019 No word yet on a Mac way to launch the Java control panel, but I'm patient. However, while you and I are corresponding, my impression, from what you are suggesting I do once I get the Java control panel launched, is that my ISY executable is somehow corrupt and that is causing these occasional Error 403s to pop up, then loading a new copy of the ISY executable might fix the problem. Is that the idea? I have yet to have anyone explain what this Error 403 is, i.e. what might cause it. I'm a really cause and effect person so operating in the dark about these error messages seems like shooting in the dark at a solution.
Jimini Posted July 13, 2019 Author Posted July 13, 2019 I found the Java control panel. It is in the System Preferences folder. I opened it and followed your instructions to delete all three items to be checked off. This did remove the ISY alias from the desktop. I could not find where to clear the cache but I attempted to follow the next steps to reload ISY but it seemed a bit round about in the one URL led to another and I think a third before I had something that I could execute. So now I have an ISY icon back on the desktop but I am not sure if I loaded a new version or the same one I had before. The alias on the desktop is pointing to: /Users/grillo/Library/Application Support/Oracle/Java/Deployment/cache/6.0/bundles/ISY Launcher.app I'm not sure but I think this is the same that I was using before. In any case, I still don't see any programs. I am waiting to reboot ISY which last time made the programs visible to the Admin Console just in case someone has a suggestion to read somenthing on ISY to reveal what is causing this Error 403.
Techman Posted July 13, 2019 Posted July 13, 2019 You loaded the same version of the ISY launchers which is correct. But by clearing out all your java data and reloading the ISY Launcher I had hoped it would have cleared up a possible corruption in you java, apparently this was not the case. I think the next step for you to try, as Michel suggested, is removing and reseating the SD card following the instructions in my earlier post. Be sure to remove power from the ISY before removing the card
