andrew77 Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Hi Guys; When I press and hold the H button to fade up or down the light associated with it, the main light (A button) fades up as well, whether the H button is fading down or up. Anyone else experience this? Any way to fix it? Drew
Michel Kohanim Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Hi Drew, Make sure the main button and button H are not in the same scene. If they are, simply remove H from that scene. If they are not, the best way to fix this is to drag and drop H as a controller in the same scene as the main button and then remove it. With kind regards, Michel Hi Guys; When I press and hold the H button to fade up or down the light associated with it, the main light (A button) fades up as well, whether the H button is fading down or up. andrew77 Posted August 3, 2009 Author Posted August 3, 2009 Hi Michel; The A button just turns on the Hall Lights and the H button just turns on the Basement lights. Those buttons don't turn on a scene, although they are included in other scenes of course. Drew
Michel Kohanim Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 Hi Drew, If button H turns on the basement light, it means that it's in a scene as a controller for the basement lights. If they are not in the same scene, may I humbly suggest the following: 1. Factory reset your KPL 2. Right mouse click on any of the buttons and then choose Restore Device With kind regards, Michel Hi Michel; The A button just turns on the Hall Lights and the H button just turns on the Basement lights. Those buttons don't turn on a scene, although they are included in other scenes of course. Drew
andrew77 Posted August 4, 2009 Author Posted August 4, 2009 Hi Michel; You are correct. A button and H button are controllers in two separate scenes. But they are in scenes together as responders for the D button on the same KPL. Does that make a difference or should I still Factory reset the KPL and restore from the admin console? Drew
Sub-Routine Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 Hi Drew, Please add the A button as a responder to the H controlled scene. After all the links are made select the A button in that scene, right click, Remove from Scene. Rand
andrew77 Posted August 4, 2009 Author Posted August 4, 2009 I'll do it when I get home. Thanks Rand. How's the Blackberry treating you? are you working the ISY with it? Drew
Sub-Routine Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 Drew, It's great to hear from you again! I trust the new family is well. Yes, try that first before you reset the KPL. It works 90%. The BB is a love/hate relationship. Rand
andrew77 Posted August 5, 2009 Author Posted August 5, 2009 The new family is great. A few bumps in the road but that's just kids. And new parents, of course. We're all learning. They just had their birthdays. Now they're 9 and 10. Sometimes you sit there and go "my life is in shambles. These kids will never get it!!!" And at the end of the day I realize that they're pretty great kids and the day wasn't have as bad as it seemed earlier that day. What do you hate about the blackberry? Anything I can shed some light on as you guys have shed spotlights on my issues in the past. Drew
andrew77 Posted August 5, 2009 Author Posted August 5, 2009 Still no luck. I tried putting the A button into the H button scene and then remove it. I don't have the A button trigger anything but the light it's attached to so I can't put the H button into an A button scene. I've also noticed that all the buttons on the KPL make the A light brighten as I press and hold them. Should I now factory reset the KPL and then restore it? Drew
Sub-Routine Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Hi Drew, Good to hear about the kids. You are braver than I! As for the BB, I'm actually very happy with it, but just like any cell phone it can be annoying Sounds like your KPL may be defective. You can try a factory reset / restore. Is the device still under warranty? Rand
andrew77 Posted August 5, 2009 Author Posted August 5, 2009 I'll restore etc... and see how that works. It's an older purchase so I think any warranty is now over. It works fine, just when I press and hold a KPL button it does the funny stuff (stop me if I'm being too technical, hahaha). If the restore doesn't work, I'll just put it in a low traffic area and get another KPL to replace it. Thanks for everything, Drew
andrew77 Posted August 11, 2009 Author Posted August 11, 2009 It turns out I seem to have two KPLs that do the same thing. Is that odd? Or is this something you guys see regularly? Also, we had a major power outage recently and I haven't been able to run programs or timers. I thought I had rebooted the ISY but obviously not. I unplugged it from the router and the power. Then I plug in the network cable and then the power cord to reboot. Have I got something wrong? Let me know Drew I tried to create a new timer and it wouldn't run for me. Programs that are usually triggered by KPLs won't run either. When I try to Query my lighting or a scene, the Query progress bar doesn't pop up. I can control lights from the console but if the light is on, the GUI says it's off, even if I try to query it.
Sub-Routine Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Hi Drew, No, we don't usually see multiple device failures. Are the KPLs the same version (age)? Did you reset the PLM after the power surge? Is the LED on the PLM steady and bright? Rand
andrew77 Posted August 13, 2009 Author Posted August 13, 2009 The kpls are the same age. I thought it might be the plm. I unplugged and plugged it back in. But it's been so long since I've had any issue That I forget how to reboot the isy And the plm. If you could remind me I could try The plm first. Drew I forgot to mention that yes the PLM light seems to be on steady.
Sub-Routine Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 See the Quickstart Guide for the PLM Drew. If you perform the factory reset you will have to use File | Restore PLM from the ISY after. That will take some time, be patient. Be sure the PLM LED is bright. You can compare it to another device, such as an AccessPoint. Rand The kpls are the same age. I thought it might be the plm. andrew77 Posted August 15, 2009 Author Posted August 15, 2009 I tried the restore. and rebooting the PLM. Still no luck. I tried deleting a program and re-doing it. Still didn't work. Scenes work, just not programs or timers. I assume the PLM and the ISY aren't talking. If I have to wipe everything clean (ISY and PLM) and redo them both, I dont mind. Let me know, drew PS I had a button that was non toggle off or whatever it is when you push it and it runs a program but shuts its own LED off, and it doesn't do that anymore. Whenever I press a KPL button that triggers a program, it does nothing, just lights up the LED. Hope that helps. Drew
andrew77 Posted August 17, 2009 Author Posted August 17, 2009 Is it possible to Factory reset the ISY as well as the PLM? I'm hoping both are still functional. Is there a step that I should do before I try to reset the ISY? Drew
MikeB Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 Hi Andrew - Check to see if you can communicate with the PLM. From the Admin Console, click TOOLS, DIAGNOSTICS, PLM INFO/STATUS. If it reports disconnected, and have power cycled both the ISY and PLM, and checked the cable connection in between, you more than likely have a bad PLM.
andrew77 Posted August 18, 2009 Author Posted August 18, 2009 It says connected. What can I do now? Drew
MikeB Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Can you control devices and scenes through the Admin Console?
MikeB Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Open up Event Viewer, set to Level 3, and go up to a switch and press it to turn a light on. Does any traffic show up in Event Viewer? Try several switches.
MikeB Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 But the Admin Console does not show those devices as turning on/off when you press the buttons?
