Insteon motion sensor not coming back online after battery replacement

Featured Replies

I cannot bring an Insteon MS online after battery replacement. I clicked the setting button in the back to no avail.

In the admin console, its icon in the devices tree has become a weird, 90 degree-rotated “Z”-like symbol too.

How do I fix this?

Ms1 or Ms 2

MS1

Put it into linking mode, right click on device and choose restore

I don’t know what I did wrong, but the MS wasn’t restored and the icon has turned into a red exclamation point.

Repeated the process a few times, but it didn’t work.

Now what?

Are you sure the MS was in linking mode?

I think so. What's strange is it has triggered the low battery alert now, although its motion sensor signal is still red exclamation point.

On the old style Insteon MS each tap of the linking button should toggle the status of the MS, while not in linking mode. Seven quick taps will send the dark signal status.

Holding the linking button until the LED starts blinking slowly will put it into linking mode. One more tap will put it into faster blinking which nobody knows the purpose, and a second tap will return it to normal mode. It may take a minute to return to normal mode if the button is not tapped twice again for status testing.
