jrcasselman Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 Hello, Product integration: Not sure if anyone is tracking Ubiquiti, but the "unifi Protect" camera's / software etc rock. I'm putting 9 cameras along with the gateway and controller / wifi in my house. I've also got a very large ISY994i deployment. It would be amazing to get the two systems working together! This would eliminate me from having to put motion sensors outside of my home as the cameras could do that work! Want to trigger lights for example based on motion detection. I could see this being huge as well for companies. Parts I've installed: Ubiquiti Unifi Security Gateway (USG) Ubiquiti UniFi Cloud Key Gen2 Plus (UCK-G2-PLUS) (this is the video recorder) Been doing some reading of the forums @ Ubiquiti, they don't have API's but they do have "logs" and to be honest I'm not a programmer, sounds like a few people have figured out a way to get triggers as well as video feeds. I'm ok not having video feeds because I use the Unifi Protect app, but would be cool to have the ISY994i trigger an e-mail along with lights if dark outside etc... Good conversation can be found here from the forum. Guessing I'm not the only one looking to tie the two together... ideas, suggestions, help would be very appreciated! simplextech Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 I've been following the UBNT discussions and waiting for an actual API. Without the API there is a problem of end-user knowledge of installing scripts to parse/process the log information and make it useful. There's also the problem that Unifi updates destroy the user installed scripts forcing a manual reconfigure. Not everyone is a Linux admin and comfortable with the steps necessary to configure properly. Nobody is comfortable with supporting an integration that can be broken at anytime from a vendor update and or user caused problems during install or setup and such problems can cause the whole system to become inoperable. There's plenty of information available to setup this and it's easy enough to have it flip a variable on the ISY for motion on/off without needing a nodeserver.
apostolakisl Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 I am a Unifi fan, but am not using them for cameras. I use Blue Iris. Blue Iris integrates spectacularly with ISY because there is a node for it. I have set ISY to set off the alarm if there is motion detected on my interior cameras while it is armed away. I have a DSC at the office which uses a nodelink node server (there is also a polyglot nodeserver for it) and I have Elk at home which uses ISY's built-in Elk module. You will need a 24/7 PC for Blue Iris and a Raspberry Pi for Polyglot (or you can buy the new Polisy). If you do not currently have polyglot running on your system, I highly recommend it. There are lots of third party devices that polyglot creates nodes for on your ISY meshing it all together. The list is long and growing. Things like pool control pumps, weather data, DSC alarm, Husqavarna lawn mower, Tesla car, Blue Iris, and the dozens more things.
jrcasselman Posted January 10, 2020 Author Posted January 10, 2020 I've not yet looked into the Polyglot, i'll do that for sure - thx! Unfortunately I'm already too far in on the video w/Unifi - can't return it at this point

I never understood the point of the connection ?Sent using Tapatalk

Unfortunately I'm already too far in on the video w/Unifi - can't return it at this point If they are IP cameras, you can have both Blue Iris and Unifi. It would cost you $50 for the Blue Iris. Presumably you would not bother to have Blue Iris record anything, but it would still work for integration with ISY.

I use it for the motion detection input to ISY.

Sent using Tapatalk BlueIris triggers ISY programs, ISY events trigger BlueIris things, if the alarm is triggered ISY tells BI to set every cam to record. When I set security for the house BI is updated to a security profile... endless possibilities.
markv58 Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 I use BI to stream cam feed to my custom ISY control app too. I will be sharing the app on the UDI forum soon.

I'll load up Blue Iris later today / tomorrow and see if it can find my Unif cameras, do see two unif cameras on the Blue Iris list - if i can use the cameras I own w/blue iris to trigger events that would be huge, will be the $50 all day long!
markv58 Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 @jrcasselman That will be the best $50 you'll probably ever spend. BlueIris is way under priced imho.

It would be easy to grab the log and use wget to flip a variable on the ISY for motion. I'm sure people will help but don't expect a Nodeserver as that's too much integration without an API.

The Unifi cameras are not on the BI list but they do work. I have BI and use it interchanging with Xeoma and they both work. In the Unifi Protect controller you have to enable the RTSP feed from the camera and then in BI just manually setup the camera pointing to the Unifi camera's IP address.
jrcasselman Posted January 10, 2020 Author Posted January 10, 2020 Ok - got camera's working with Blue Iris! https://community.ui.com/questions/UNIFI-G3-Video-cam-and-BLUE-IRIS/7148b235-342d-4988-b2ed-fda8b617e062 I started with step 5, also the user id / pswd is that of your account - I can use camera in both apps at same time which is perfect! 1. Download Unifi Video (3.9.3 for Windows when I donwloaded it) and install 2. Start Unifi Video. It will be minimized to the bottom right hand corner of the task bar. Click on its icon, then click on Open in Browser., 3. Sign in using your Ubiquity account credentails ... create one if you don't have an account. 4. Your U3 camera should appear in the browser's camera list. Click on the camera's checkbox. Convert it to Managed if it is not already managed. Alloow the camera's firmware to be updated if necessary. 5. Once that is done a panel will appear on the right when the camera's check box is checked. Open the RTSP Service section by clicking on the down arrow. Change the RTSP Service to ON 6. Copy the RSTP URL to the clipboard. 7. Start BlueIris. Click on the + sign on the top ribbon at right to add a camera 8. Give the new camera a name and select Network IP and Enable Audio and Motion Detection 9. In Network IP camera configuration. uUnder "Address" choose rstp// and past the RSTP URL from Unify Video. Enter ubnt for the user and account. Click OK and wait for a few seconds for the camera to initialize.
Mayben Posted July 23, 2020 Posted July 23, 2020 Good morning, anymore movement on this topic? I've ordered some UniFi cameras and will be installing them soon.
