TDemet Posted May 14, 2020 Posted May 14, 2020 I have simply forgotten the password for the Universal Devices Administrative Console. Is there a way to recover/reset the password?
Brian H Posted May 14, 2020 Posted May 14, 2020 Yes. From the UDI Wiki. https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY-99i/ISY-26_INSTEON:Resetting_Your_Userid/Password
Papa C Posted May 31, 2020 Posted May 31, 2020 Is my ISY dead? Couldn't log in. Finally assumed that I'd forgotten my password so ried telnetting in and using the mac as login/password, no dice. Kept failing authorization. Next tried holding in reset button (multiple times with the plm unplugged and plugged in) while the 4 leds blinked off and on, then cycled one by one. Still no dice. When I try to log in with admin/admin, I still get the message: Failed. Retry authorizing isy. So, next tried holding reset until it with through the above cycle holding reset until the memory led flashed (approx 15 seconds). Same results. Cannot get into my isy and it doesn't appear to me working. Nothing that is on an isy timer works. Lights that should go off after being on a period don't go off. Bath fans that should come on after lights are on don't. Door locks that should lock at a set time don't. House is essentially broken. Any other ideas to recover the ISY, what I could be doing wrong, or is it dead, needing replacement? If it needs replaced is replacing it with a Polisy a possibility
asbril Posted May 31, 2020 Posted May 31, 2020 On a related topic..... I am actually wondering whether it is possible to open the AC without username and password. Though others may be, I am not worried by hackers accessing my ISY, If a hacker gets into my ISY and wants to play with my lights etc, then most likely I have bigger problems elsewhere in my computer or home. I use the Ac several times every day and find it a bit annoying having to enter the info every time. Any ideas anyone ?
larryllix Posted May 31, 2020 Posted May 31, 2020 admin/admin is the usual default. If that doesn't work then factory reset your ISY, use admin/admin and restore your best backup. Change your lat/long, time zone, and credentials.

Yeah, If it was HTML5 and not java, the browser could remember your credentials and be responsible for security. The more security we get imposed the more tools we have to circumvent it.
Papa C Posted June 1, 2020 Posted June 1, 2020 That's the issue. I get the message "Failed try reauthorizing isy" when I try to login with admin/admin AFTER attempting to reset using the reset button for the 4 then 7 seconds while the LEDs blink method. It doesn't seem to be resetting or is just dead. Lights are on but nobody's home. LEDs flash like they should but I cannot log in nor do any of the timers or programs seem to be working.
Michel Kohanim Posted June 1, 2020 Posted June 1, 2020 @Papa C, I think you are logging in through ISY Portal but providing it with the local credentials. You need to use ISY Portal credentials. With kind regards, Michel

I forgot my password too, and want to run the RESETTING USERID PASSWORD procedure. Muy question is if this procedure will erase all my devices, scenes, programs? I dont have a backup, and it worries me. Thank You.. Nico from Gaoli HOME
Brian H Posted July 29, 2020 Posted July 29, 2020 The Reset User ID/ Password procedure should not erase your programs and installed devices. If you hold the reset 30 seconds. Then you do a Factory Reset on it and everything is gone. https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=Resetting_Your_ISY
Papa C Posted July 30, 2020 Posted July 30, 2020 Resetting the password isn't supposed to but a full reset does. But then if you've got backups it isn't a big deal to dump it back in. After all the stuff I went through above I had all kinds of back ups, it only took a minute to load it all back in. Moral of the story, anytime you change anything make a quick backup...
