sndflea Posted December 2, 2020 Posted December 2, 2020 I've been running Insteon and X-10 for years but have no experience with Z-Wave. I've added the dongle and the module. Trying to add an Enbrighten Toggle Switch. First thing I did was do a factory reset of the dongle. Next clicked Add Z-Wave Device. Window pops up searching for device. Directions for Enbrighten say to press up and release the toggle to add it to the network. ISY never sees the switch. I did a bench test and put the switch right next to the ISY and it still doesn't see it. I have read the documentation for ISY / Z-Wave and thing I have done everything that I should have to get it set up. What am I missing? Thanks.
lilyoyo1 Posted December 2, 2020 Posted December 2, 2020 Make sure that you are running the latest firmware (5.3.1) and your UI matches. If so your switch may be too far from your Isy to add.
sndflea Posted December 2, 2020 Author Posted December 2, 2020 I am running 5.30 on both. With the bench set up the switch was no more than 5 feet from the ISY
DennisC Posted December 2, 2020 Posted December 2, 2020 When adding zwave devices, the first thing you should do is exclude the device and then include the device. Be sure to move the device within 3 feet of the ISY while doing this.
sndflea Posted December 2, 2020 Author Posted December 2, 2020 In the Admin Console I can see the option to add a device and to remove a device that has been added. How do I exclude it?

How do I exclude it? Here are the instructions from the Wiki. Remove Devices Select Remove/Exclude a Z-Wave Device from the menu and wait for a popup window to appear. If the popup window does not appear, Select Stop Adding or Removing a Z-Wave Device from the advanced menu then try again. Put the Z-Wave device in link mode. Refer to the user guide for your product on how to do this. In many cases, this just requires you to press a button on the device. The ISY will remove the device (this may occur a few seconds after you put the device in link mode) The popup window will go away, but you will NOT see your device removed from the tree. Notes Deleting a node from the ISY does not delete it from the Z-Wave dongle. When nodes are removed with a different controller, the ISY nodes are disabled instead of deleted. This is done in case the user accidentally removes ISY from the Z-Wave network, which essentially tells ISY that all nodes are deleted. We may change this behaviour based on Alpha feedback. Adding Devices directly from ISY Make sure the ISY is the Primary Controller Select Add a Z-Wave Device from the menu and wait for a popup window to appear. If the popup window does not appear, Select 'Stop Adding or Removing a Z-Wave Device' from the advanced menu then try again. Put the Z-Wave device in link mode. Refer to the user guide for your product on how to do this. In many cases, this just requires you to press a button on the device. The ISY will begin adding the device (this may occur a few seconds after you put the device in link mode) The popup window will go away, and you will see your device added to the tree. Note All Secure devices such as door locks must be added to the ISY directly
