PLM power light not on

Recommended Posts

Mine is also on solid green.

If a dual band module is doing a Communications/Beacon/4Tap test. It may flash green or red. To indicate it is receiving the test signal and on the same or opposite phase of the power lines.

What hardware revision is the PLM and its firmware reported in the PLM Info/Status test in the Administrative Console tools?

Hi. It shows 51.11.E1 v9E and shows connected. It doesn't flash red or green. It's just not on at all. It's not a matter of the bulb being burnt out because if I unplug it, it will come on but go off again. Very curious.

The hardware revision number is on a white sticker on the back of the PLM.

You have to start a communications test from another dual band module. For the LED to flash red or green. Some modules out of RF range may not cause the LED to flash at all.

Goes On and then Off is something I am not familiar with.

So I looked at the Modem  Developers. There is a data bit that can be set in the Set IM Configuration command to turn off Automatic LED operation. Then an LED On or Off command is then needed to turn the LED On and Off. I can't imagine how that could have been set or even if it is the problem.

Well, I feel dumb. It's the ISY light not on. Not sure why I called it the PLM.  Seems like other members have had same issue with power light on ISY. Is it worth doing a warranty repair? Just thinking something else could be going on with it.

@smarthome_newbie if it's the ISY power light that isn't on then you probably have a faulty power supply or SD card has gone bad.

Power supply options:  You can try any power supply that outputs anywhere between 5 volt and 30 volts, center positive, 2mm barrel connector

Help with replacing SD card:  https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY-99i/ISY-26_INSTEON:Replacing/Formatting_an_SD_Card

What happens when you plug it in?
     Boot up sequence:
Power, RX&TX, momentary blink of Memory/RX and TX, and then Power only

For power supplies check if you have any old router plugs or cordless phone plugs laying around. Just see if you happen to have anything in the house currently to test with first. If that solves your problem and you need the plug elsewhere then look at ordering one or buying one locally.

Good luck!

I too have had a few wall warts fail. On ISY99i and newer ISY994i. I would try a supply and see if things are better.

If the ISY994i works correctly but the power LED on it is off. There are a few reports here where the power LED does not light but everything else works 100%.
