Whole house crashed, cannot reset Polisy from overseas

My house sitter calls me this evening, saying she cannot turn on any lights.

I logged onto ISY and requested a remote reset.bseems like it might have executed.

Then I tried to log into Polisy PRO. It says I'm online, but no information on the two node servers (MQQT and Weather) shows up. The usual options of resetting Polisy are not available either...

All home switches are SonOff, linked to Google Voice via the Polisy running MQQT node server and ISY. I cannot access any of those switches... Neither by voice, not through my ELK M1gold. The culprit clearly seems to be Polisy...

Can anyone help?

Cheers.

I have no suggestion (unfortunately) but I believe that the plan is to include remote access for Polisy, in one of the next upgrades.

In the meantime, for your next trip,  if you have access to your ISY, you could add a Zwave switch to your Polisy and reboot it that way, though I know that power cycling Polisy is not Michel's preferred cup of tea. But it could be a temporary solution. You could also ask your house sitter to power cycle the Polisy (sorry Michel).

In fact I added a Zwave switch to my Home Assistant RPi, for just in case.

Thanks Asbril,

I have this system implemented up here in the mountains of California to do a daily reset to my router and ELK1XEP. This is 10 year old tech.

I will ask my house sitter to try and do this. Rather pedestrian, I must say, considering the Polisy is supposed the be the latest and greatest.

Here is one thought though: in December, I installed a whole house battery system (backed up by solar), which means I'm no longer prone to the rather frequent power outages of the local grid. Polisy has been for 4 months straight! Sound like a stack overflow somewhere. Could that be a hint, Michel?

Because before this, for an entire year, this problem didn't presente itself...

 Cheers.

As I mentioned, there is an polyglot upgrade coming up for Polisy and personally I consider it one of the best things since sliced bread.  Maybe there are some initial tweaks needed, but I am very happy with Polisy.

BTW, Forum doesn't let me post, when using Brave browser. I had to sign in in Chrome...

ewwww... too many bugs in Chrome.  I use FireFox and I am getting to like it much better. Many options like complete advert blocking and anti-snooping options. Google doesn't like it and tries to block the browser in some webpages.

I have had to move some of my personal HA NRbridge software back to RPi from polISY. Since the upgrade to polyglot v2 my software started hanging about once per month after running in parallel with polyglot without problem, since polisy was released.

So, I have done a complete power cycle to the house, including the Polisy and the ISY. Still no lights. I then did a separate power cycle to the Polisy. No dice.

When I log onto ISY, it shows to be on-line. When I try to log onto Polisy, it says it is online, but no details on either of the node servers and no option to reboot...

The house has internet.

Any ideas?

well, I am trying to slowly migrate from CHROME to BRAVE. Seems like this forum doesn't like it.

Polisy was running stable the whole time. The last and only time the house crashed was on 21 November, a week before I put the house on battery backup. Since then it ran without a glitch. And of course it comes crashing down, when I am on another continent!

I had this happen with recent routers that wouldn't handle that many IP addresses for my extra IP addresses used for another 25 WiFi bulbs. ISY and polisy couldn't get an IP address from the DHCP server after power outages. I was in Mexico and ISY in Canada. After another $1K in routers etc.. I hope it is more secure.

Routers like to get updated with bug fixes but then they add more features and the NVRAM was overrun and wouldn't keep that many IP addresses. Upon power outages it was a race for items to get their IP addresses and occasionally ISY994 or polisy lost out. When I got home, I found polisys was using IP address 0.0.0.0 to access my house items.

Yes, that was a problem I had earlier, but once I upgraded to a MikroTik 3011, that went away. Handling 98 Sonoffs and a whole bunch of other devices without a problem... it used to take a while to get all the addresses assigned. But that went away, when I reserved all the switch addresses. Now, the moment it gets a MAC, it knows where it goes.

Could it be a DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME ISSUE???? Colombia doesn't switch, but maybe I failed to set this thing properly.

As I said, cycled power to the while house and to the Polisy.

I still cannot control any of the SonOff switches.

When looking at the event log on the ISY, I see that it is getting information from my Weather station through the Polyglot weather node. That part seems to work.

When I go to the ISY web interface, the Zwave based sensors seem to present (the color of the red/green buttons are vivid).

All of the SonOff switches initially have a vivid color, but very soon the ON turns dull and it obviously doesn't respond to clicks...

It's almost like the MQTT node server crashed. But wouldn't that come alive again upon a power cycle?

Stumped...
