pmoles Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 Bought a new ISY994i ZW+ PRO and ISY Launcher cannot find ISY. Run start(5).jnlp and brings up ISY FInder dialog box but does not find ISY nor allows me to Add via URL https://isy (invalid ISY error) Have cleared all cache including all applications Linked u_d_.com to java security ISY boots up with correct lights - Power On remains Computer and ISY both wired into eero mesh network (same unit) No PLM installed yet Had a previous ISY994i (15+years) at previous house and removed from network, .etc - why start(5).jnlp Frustrating. Any thoughts? Thanks, Peter
Michel Kohanim Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 @pmoles, What's the pattern of lights on the front as you reboot? With kind regards, Michel
pmoles Posted May 3, 2021 Author Posted May 3, 2021 Michel, Power comes on, then TX and RX come on, the memory flashes and then stops, the TX stops and then RX stops - leaving only the power on. T/Peter
Michel Kohanim Posted May 3, 2021 Posted May 3, 2021 @pmoles, Are you certain your ISY is on the same network as your computer? And have you not changed ISY web server ports? If so, the next thing would be firewall. With kind regards, Michel
pmoles Posted May 3, 2021 Author Posted May 3, 2021 Michel, Both plugged into same 8 port switch. R/Peter
MrBill Posted May 3, 2021 Posted May 3, 2021 1 hour ago, pmoles said: Both plugged into same 8 port switch. That doesn't necessarily mean they are on the same network. For example 192.168.1.10 and 192.168.2.20 both with standard subnet masks of 255.255.255.0 are not on the same network even tho they are plugged into the same physical network.
pmoles Posted May 3, 2021 Author Posted May 3, 2021 Michel, That may be true in this case. Let me check tonight. Thanks. R/Peter
pmoles Posted May 4, 2021 Author Posted May 4, 2021 It was not, set it to same network level 192.168.4.xx as PC with no joy - same results. In either case, able to access the ISY through the URL via browser. Ideas? T/Peter
Geddy Posted May 4, 2021 Posted May 4, 2021 @pmoles how old is the switch you're using? And is it managed or unmanaged? Are you sure you haven't plugged one into a dedicated up link port? I wonder if perhaps the switch has gone bad and not allowing traffic between ports. I'm not familiar with the eero products enough to suggest it might be that. But you said both computer and ISY are plugged into an 8 port switch. Have you attempted to remove the switch and plug the ISY directly into an eero device and use the computer on wifi? Since you can get to something through a web browser/URL have you attempted to telnet into the ISY (https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY-99i/ISY-26_INSTEON:Telnet_To_Your_ISY)? That might give you help accessing the device differently to check if the switch (or eero) is blocking some traffic or not. Last suggestions is to clear java cache, remove/reinstall java, download new ISY Launcher (https://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/24381-isy-launcher/, and attempt that way. You specifically mentioned that there's no PLM installed yet. Why? Not sure if this would cause problems, but wouldn't this cause the ISY to start in safe mode? Should still be able to get into the ISY though, but would think you'd want to have the PLM active unless what you're doing is setting up a new ISY and using an old PLM. Finally...time to open a support ticket with UDI and see if they can help walk you through some other troubleshooting steps. Email - support@universal-devices.com Good luck!
pmoles Posted May 5, 2021 Author Posted May 5, 2021 Geddy, Took your advice and placed ISY directly into eero hub and my pc on wireless. No joy. Reloaded Java, and all, no joy. Setup telnet and able to access. Strange that all other means of access to the ISY work but not the Launcher. Will reach out to UDI for help. Thanks for your time and help, Peter
pmoles Posted May 5, 2021 Author Posted May 5, 2021 Solved - duh, works using https://isy .......kills me THANKS ALL!! Peter 1
daved Posted June 13, 2021 Posted June 13, 2021 Had the same problem - ISY finder not found. Solution was to disconnect VPN on computer. 2
