other than the basic User Interface (not the admin console), what are my options to access my ISY from my iphone?

 

Would someone be willing to state their opinion as to whether they are worth the cost? (assuming the app isn't free)

Well, I have been using iLinc Pro for a few weeks now. I can say it works, gives me access to my devices scenes and control of programs. It seems reliable and so far has not failed to allow me to control anything. There are some things I wish were different in the user interface but the developer seems responsive and willing to listen to users so I suspect it will continue to improve. It wasn't inexpensive, but I am using it often enough that I think it is worth the cost.

Is eKeypad really worth the $45 asking price? What benefit does it have over the others?

There is also IsyAjax, which is free provided you have the Networking Module. I use it on my Android all the time. It's iPhone-like in appearance, but runs in the browser.

Hmm, after some more looking, it looks like these can be divided up into two categories.

 

Native iPhone apps:

iLinc

eKeypad ISY

 

Browser Interfaces (both require the Networking Module):

TouchSwitch

IsyAjax

 

Now I'm trying to decide what type I want to get. The nice thing about the browser interfaces, would be you could use these everywhere (on PC's as well as an iPhone). With the native iPhone apps, you'd be stuck using the standard ISY interface.

 

What are most people using these days? I plan on eventually adding some cameras to the house, would this influence the decision, if I wanted to use the ISY to control them?

Correct me if I am wrong but they ALL require the networking module. The difference is the speed that the commands come back. From outside your local network, there is a longer latency with the web based products.

 

One other thing to consider is a common look and feel. With the web based products the user has a consistent interface via web or iphone.

I don't think that's the case. Touchswitch and IsyAjax require the networking module as they are actually installed onto the ISY's web server. The networking module is required in order to access it.

 

I believe that the other iPhone apps live on the iPhone itself and use the ISY's REST or web services interface to talk to the ISY. These interfaces are present with or without the networking module.

is "iLinc" you are referring to "MobiLinc Pro" now in the App Store? If so, can anyone out there compare eKeypad ($49.95) to MobiLinc ($19.95). I wish MobiLinc Lite were more functional so I could get a better feel for the app. Even though it is not as expensive as eKeypad, it is still a significant investment (by iPhone app standards) and for $50 or $20 I want the best of the two.

I know, I wanted that comparison too, but it seems that too few of people are using eKeypad...to provide a review. I went with MobiLinc, and have been very happy. The developer has been very responsive to requests (he is implementing one I asked for in the next release, and we worked on another one that is going to be pretty cool for scenes).
