Moving from ISY to ISY on Polisy

I have transitioned all of my Insteon devices over to ISY on Polisy.  I am struggling on getting the node servers moved over to the new ISY setup.  Couple questions:

1. I currently have the portal setup for my old ISY

2. How do I get the Polisy Polyglot to look at the new ISY on Polisy rather than the old ISY?

3. I did attempt to reset the Polisy to factory settings multiple times by holding the button in until all 3 lights flashed but it didn't reset anything.  How can I go about resetting to factory settings if I decide to go that route?

Hi dinostop,

1. All you have to do is to go to Polyglot Settings and change:

ISY Host to localhost
ISY Port to 8080
Make sure https is unchecked
Enter the username/password for the ISY running on your Polisy

There's a bug in factory reset where it does not factory reset ISY (but it does everything else). To factory reset ISY, currently, the only way is to ssh and then:
sudo rm -rf /var/isy/FILES/CONF

With kind regards,
Michel

Thank you for the quick reply.  Changing the ISY information didn't work earlier but it did this time.  Is there a way to push the existing node servers or do I have to delete them and then reinstall them?

@dinostop, it's cleaner if you restart till we finish the backup/restore (from ISY994).

With kind regards,

@Michel Kohanim,

Will there be a backup/restore for just the node servers?  I'm doing a manual transfer of my z-wave and insteon devices from ISY-994i to ISY on Polisy so I can reinstall after a factory reset of the devices.  Some are quite old and I'm cleaning up some of my "old" programming in the process.  But a backup/restore of the node servers to ISY on Polisy would be handy.  If not, I'll just reinstall them.

That brings up another question, Polyglot 3.  I installed it on Polisy so I could follow the addition of new node servers.  Two out of the five I need are available in PG3, but it's Alpha I believe.  What will be the migration path if any from PG2 to PG3?  I'm eager to pay some of these developers for their work.

@mbking,

1. Yes, backup/restore will also restore node servers
2. Yes, we should have a migration path from PG to PG3

With kind regards,
Michel

@Michel Kohanim with some PG2 nodeservers not yet available on PG3, what is the plan if a nodeservers is missing from PG3 when the backup is migrated over from PG2?

There are a couple of node servers that make use of specific hardware features of the RPi that won't be ported to PG3 as they just can't work there.

Currently, you can use the Polyglot backup process to backup PG2 node servers and use the PG3 restore from PG2 backup to restore them on PG3.  However, there are things to note about this process.

1. The node server must exist in the PG3 store.  It can't restore node servers that don't exist for PG3.

2. The node server in PG3 must have the same name as the node server in PG2.  If the name has changed, it won't be able to find it under the new name.

3. If the node server in PG3 is not a free node server, you'll need a license for the PG3 version or it won't restore.

4. Configuration parameters will only carry over if they are the same.  If the PG3 configuration is different, it can't translate.
